Suffering has NO upside except to teach you to choose happiness.

Wowie wow! This is a good one! Absolute PROOF that happiness is found in the absence of desire. So EASY to see with this! Thank you very much for this tremendous BOOST in realization!

I've only been happy in moments of clear not-seeking, where it felt I had/ was everything already. I've only been there at a few occasions

😇GVB ❤ thankfulness is key to battling depression and hopelessness.. Every time you feel a projection or a sad thought or feeling, think and visualize something you're grateful for. You are the best place to be graciously taught by a reasonable teacher. who is willing to expand his own consciousness. ❤I'VE enjoyed watching him entertain new and higher level lessons himself. 😊?9:50

So happiness is found when desires are satiated, so we keep creating desires to be satiated to have those moments rather than live in the present free from desire to experience happiness directly. Wonderful

It seems to me that the young lady understood that happiness is not in the fulfilling of the desires. The next step she needs to take is to give an open and unconditional welcome to any experience she has in the present moment.

Voluntary suffering. We are taught to do the opposite. It's just a mechanical habit to escape from discomfort. Just a habit. And we will never transcend or whatever if we run away and escape from discomfort. Voluntary suffering is a term coined by Gurdjieff. It means that when we suffer, we let it be, allow it rather than escape. Gurdjieff's thing was that we are simply habitual, like a machine. We don't even know we run away from discomfort. We run away from the most minor of discomfort, exactly like a child who gets grazed by a twig, and starts screaming. Thats exactly how we are and we don't know it. When we allow the discomfort, the discomfort disappears. So the first step is to see this , see if its true. For example walk down the street, maybe walk a little taller, with your eyes on the horizon, and you will see how you feel uncomfortable. Second step is to allow the discomfort. Or if you already feel uncomfortable, like you are feeling depressed, or sad, or bored, go into a room and allow it, and see what happens. Every moment we are looking to escape, or we complain. Allowing is never mechanical, we have to do it. Allowing is the therapeutic technique in counselling and psychotherapy and coaching, it comes from Buddhism and Tantra, and at the end of the day its just common sense. Its looking into the problem, allowing it, rather than avoiding it.

Surrender the mind to the observer. Surrender the observer to pure awareness, pure being.
