To help reduce the splatter when using the hand mixer to break up the chicken do the following. Take a paper plate (up side down) and poke two holes in the center (lined up with the mixer). Insert the two beaters through the holes and then into the mixer. When you begin mixing, the splatter will hit the paper plate and will reduce the amount of clean up. Just a thought.
Without even trying out this dish, I have to give it my vote for the most innovative recipe that I've ever seen on TH-cam or anywhere else. Having said that, I now have to try it out.
Sooooo critical, he is giving us a recipe not heart surgery. Wash everything that needs to be washed, cook it till it’s done. Thank you so much for the recipe.
"The bacon was cooled so there's no cross contamination there." Well, I mean, you're adding the cooked bacon and chives to the very raw chicken, so there's all kinds of cross contamination. You just don't have to worry about it, since the are going to be cooked together soon anyway.
He's not concerned with cross-contaminating the stuff that's going into the crockpot. He's talking about not cross-contaminating the remaining green onions, since he's not using the whole bunch, and he's cutting them with the same shears as were used on the bacon (so if the bacon were raw, you would not want those shears to be touching leftover herbs).
Do you cook it on high for two hours or four hours? First he said put it on high for two hours then when you come back you said it was cooking for four hours
I was wondering if anyone caught that. He also said to stir halfway through but it didn’t look stirred. Also, if you open the lid at all on a crockpot you’ve lost a lot of heat momentum
You first say that you cook on high for 2 hours and to stir halfway through. Then you say that it has been cooking 4 hours. What is the correct process?
He said it had been cooking for four hours, and it obviously had not been stirred as all the green onions are still positioned on top just like they were when he put the lid on.
I cringe every time I see these cooks just dump chicken breasts directly from the package into the crock pot. Please wash the chicken before cooking. I'm glad to see your comment.
No, it’s not OK to wash your chicken ever. You have more opportunity to spread bacteria when you do so. No one recommends washing chicken anymore. I suggest you do some research..
Green onions, yes, because they're just out there getting coughed on by every little kid in the store. Chicken, no. It's in a package, sealed, and if a bird has Salmonella, it's inside the meat (as in washing it ain't a gonna do nothin). Also, you're about to cook the chicken. It's gonna kill all the bacteria if done right, so nothing to worry about. If you don't cook it to the proper temp, then yes, you could get sick, but that's why the USDA has those temps listed as the minimum internal temp for cooking each type of meat.
I bet this really tastes great BUT a spoon 🥄 can stir all of your ingredients & a fork 🍴can easily pull any meat apart WITHOUT ANY MESS! I’m much older than you are & I’ve never seen or heard of using a mixer to break up meat especially when it’s hot or to simply stir! 😮
I love chicken crockpot dishes and this looks great. One thing I'll change is cutting the chicken up into chunks before cooking. It will still Come apart and mix as it cooks. Will also add celery flakes Thanks
Your plastic beaters will melt. The crockpot gets to hot. I make apple butter in my crockpot. I used a immersible blender. I have a metal shank immersible blender now
For me I think it's everything just dumped in and also I think there should've been potatoes and vegetables like peas and carrots or broccoli and carrots. Gonna try it sometime but I'm gonna prep. Everything he put in sounds good together. Shredding the chicken like that wasn't appetizing either but at least it worked. I'll skip that part and do it by hand
Okey dokey... So one thing I love about a crock pot, is how tender the meat becomes. I prefer to shred my meat with 2 forks, but if anyone is happy using a mixer, I will live and let live 😊. Also, I like to blend the cream cheese and chicken broth in a blender before I add it to the crock pot. I do this for chicken enchilada soup. It works great. Lol! I don't remember the chef ever saying that this was healthy. I will try it this winter as a comfort food. Sometimes it's nice to break away from the norm and enjoy different flavors.
I just made this earlier today and I added onions, celery, carrots and potatoes also I used a can of cream of chicken it doesn't look that good but it was 🔥🔥🔥🔥. I think next time I cook it I will use cream of mushroom and add some mushrooms possibly some Bell peppers overall great dish.
Well, you know it's gotta be good then! I remember living in Tonga, and cheese was like $10 or 15 lb (so like $20 or 30 per kilo). Which was very high 10 years ago. Now I'm typing this, I'm thinking to the fact it's only like 30% more than I have to pay in the US now LOL
I make a recipe just like this all of the time, my family calls it "Crack Chicken". The blender does not look like a very good way to shred the chicken though, I just use two big forks and that works great.
Make this and add Jalapeno's ( I slice about 6 without seeds and 3 with seeds. Depends how spicy you want it) and serve over egg noodles. I don't shred my chicken though, I cut it into bite size pieces. trust me you will love it.
Try 4 boneless chicken breasts, sprinkle with a pack of taco seasoning, 8 oz of salsa and a can of Campbell's soup any creamy kind or the cheese. I use the cream of broccoli or broccoli cheese. Cook on high 4 hours stir in 1/3-1/2 cup of sour cream at the end. You can add beans too. I shred it for dips, tacos, or just eat it with Doritos. I also usually double the recipe because everyone loves it.
In America you call them green onions, in the UK they are spring onions and the tough green is thrown away. Seems also that everything is convenience foods to make anything.
He poured it in from the package, how would it be washed? Also, do you think a bacteria that lives inside the meat is gonna just waltz up to the surface and get washed off when you lightly rinse that piece of chicken? This is why we have recommended internal temp readings for meat! So you just cook it, and don't get sick! I've heard stories from outside the US of very extreme measures to clean everything including food before it is eaten, but that's in places where very, VERY bad diseases are pretty common. The US does a really good job of making sure none of our food has salmonella or anything, and then recommending you cook it right so that you don't get sick, even if you do somehow get a bad batch.
@@woodworkerroyer8497 Meats should be washed before cooking, not in just water but salt water - also, you want to get any bone fragments off of it after it's been cut by the manufacture. - Plus, you said (US does a really good job of making sure none of our food has salmonella or anything) - Are you kidding me, with all the recalls that have come out for months now!
My cardiologist and dietician changed my life! They told me that cheese and processed food products are what caused the 95% blockage of my arteries. After they put a stent in my heart to keep me alive. I only weigh 175lbs at 6ft. tall. I'm sure one of the two of you have life insurance on the other. You should keep an eye on the one who is encouraging these videos! It's all fun and games when you are younger. It builds up over time. When the ambulance shows up I guarantee you will regret it.
That stent they put in your heart will increase your chance of having a stroke. Once you accept the fact that you will die one day from something and there is no stopping it. What you eat is less of a concern.

I can't take anyone seriously when they cook with packaged shredded cheese.

Wonder what adding a can of Rotel to it would do ?
I was thinking jalapeños would be good. Rotella would be awesome.
Give it a pinkish tint, probably.

Cheese, fat, more cheese, salt, bacon, other meat (the food pyramid). If he used beer in lieu of stock it would be Bachelor cooking 101.
Less splatter if you hold mixer straight up and down. Excellent recipe!
I can't put my finger on it, but for some reason this is one of the most uncomfortable cooking videos I've ever watched.

That would be so so good with peas and carrots amd mushrooms added. But it does look yummy.
