Friends, we are protecting our investment and repackaging food to protect it from critters and the elements. How are you saving on food and packaging? Tell us all about it!
I turned 70 in August. I was gifted $70. This whole month, 3 grocery stores had $.99 sales with a limit of 20 items. I picked up tuna, chicken, pasta, rice, spaghetti sauce, canned tomato products and veggies. Also picked up a Milky Way as my sweet treat!! My monthly restock budget is $10, so being able to add 69 items to the pantry is such a blessing. Thanks for the tip on the pickle lids! Prayers for you both and your loved ones, everyone on this channel, our great nation and for everyone who has been touched by this storm. Stay safe. 💕🇺🇸🏜
Thanks for the info on the lid. I couldn't get the smell out. I'll try the sun
It will work great, just give it about 5 days out there😍🙏
Ashley,
I have 4 10 lb bags of sugar that I want to repackage into a food grade 5 gallon plastic bucket---
But the bags won't fit in.
Will it be safe to simply pour the sugar out of the bags it came in,
Into the bucket itself without a bag?
I scrubbed out the bucket with hot soapy water and air-dried the bucket, and ran the lid through the dishwasher...
I got the bucket from the bakery department at Walmart with the lid for $2.00--- it was ful of frosting!😁😁😁😁
Good info on the lids. Thank you for sharing your ideas and info. God bless.😊❤
I just threw out a pickle jar today that I had saved because it smelled like pickles. Guess I'll go dig through the recycle bin and pull it back out. Thank you for that tip!!!
@@pats9055 you are so welcome 🤗♥️🙏
Enjoy your videos always learn things. Thank you lady. We were blessed on the last hurricane. But we may not be this lucky next time. Georgia, Tennessee, and Carolina 's are awful
I'm glad to know about the pickle jar lids. Ty. Prayers you and Amy are doing well. We need update on homestead. Is it all completed from move yet? Did you get everything moved and set up? Be blessed Ashley.
@@carolwhisenhunt7504 we are all moved, but not completely set up. We still have a ton to do before winter. We will do an update video when we can sit down together. Thank you for your kindness and support. 🥰🙏😍
Awesome Ashley. Pet food very costly. I'm really worried about what's happening now. Hope you and Amy stay safe and healthy ❤
@@doloreswilson6698 thank you Dolores. Its really getting serious, I pray people are paying attention. You stay safe and well, always🙏😍❤
Good evening pretty ladies! We now have a third hen laying so we are getting three eggs a day now! Stay blessed!
@@rachaelsupadventures how awesome 👍 what a blessing🐓♥️🙏😍
I have a question? Why did you put the salmon in the jar?
Just to take up space. I didn't have any more rice so I just wanted it filled so the oxygen absorbers will work better. Too much empty space kills the absorbers fast. ❤😍🙏
Thank you guys!! Great information
@@ultramagapatriot5874 you are so welcome. Thank you for always being here❤🙏😍
are you freezing the rice for days then thawing before packaging?
It depends on how I am packing it. If its in glass jars with oxygen absorbers I dont. If im putting it into a 5 gallon bucket, absolutely 100% 👍 yes
@@MartinMidlifeMisadventures thank you for the reply
😏 Put a capful of bleach, mixed with water in glass jars to get rid of the smell. Turn the jar upside for 24 hours, empty then rewash 😏
Its surprising that the jars hold a pound of rice. Thats good to know. Thanks for the information. 🙏🏻
Just a quick question, Ashley: Do you think the rice will be affected by the plastic on the napkins? Is that plastic food safe? I love the way you store your foods. I think of you when I wash those same jars, and fill them with dry goods. Keep on keeping on! Love your content.
Love all your tips on repackaging! I can't get the spaghetti sauce jars free of smell. Any thoughts or suggestions? I save every container and reuse them! 😊 Been canning dog food for grand dog😊! He loves it and dogfood is so expensive like people food! God Bless, keep prayong and prepping!❤
I cover the jar opening with plastic wrap, then put the lid on it. If I have several jars I don't need right away, I put the lids outside like Ashley described.
Just a tip on what I do with spaghetti sauce jars. I store pasta in them because if there’s any tomato smell or taste it won’t affect spaghetti or mist pasta dishes.
Great video!
Good ideas!
Thanks!
@@carolwhisenhunt7504 oh you are so sweet and kind, Carol, Thank you. We really appreciate you 🙏❤️
Great video! Take care❤️
