I really like your explanation of BO3 vs BO1. BO3 helps reduce the "luck" factor and leans more on the "skill" of the player vs just getting the right top-deck at the right time.
BO1 also plays pretty linear. You don't have to consider how your hand is against the matchup it's just "yeah good enough", also feels like there's no variety with decks
As someone who started with BO1, it really is a different world. On one hand BO1 does feel better when I want a really quick game on my lunch break or something, a linear deck that does one thing you like and does it consistently can be enjoyable in small doses. BO3 however feels much more liberating and feels like I'm playing a true game of Magic with the fun of adapting my deck to the opponent's strategies/deck as a whole. The only truly annoying part of BO3 is that if you're playing a sloooooow player or a really annoying deck like Domain or Golgari midrange for the 36th time, you have to deal with them more than once, hahah
It's of course true what she said.. I however prefer Bo1 - for the time efficiency - you get the daily wins quicker that way and also see more opponents decks / time unit playin Bo1 rather than Bo3. But yeah Bo3 is probably what serious players should play. Bo3 i probably the most high skill dependent mode and it has the qualifier points rewards in Arena..
I personally like the bant version because i feel like sheltered by ghosts is a better tool for stabilizing against aggro. Also surprised more of the bant versions are running sheltered by ghosts and authority of the consuls in the sideboard.
One of the reasons I think the sultai version might play better is when I've played this deck I feel like I'm way more likely to need more blue sources than green sources. I don't run 4 forests in my simic crabs deck, I do run 4 islands. I think you might stumble on some of the big plays on the deck because of those 4 g/w verges. If they do a counter clockwise cycle of verges the blue white one might make the bant one feel better.
BO3 should always be the choice if you want to really play Magic. The game was meant for that. In Arena, tho, BO3 requieres you more commitment: you have to been playing for a while to craft a proper sideboaed, you have to have the the for a long match and also in the mood to think a bit more your plays. If not, BO1 is the answer: fast dailies, straight forward play.
First, #gamergirl and thank you for sharing! Great concept and exactly what I need to configure my Loot deck. As a 100% aggro player I like exploring different strategies and your vids hit the spot! Question about the B03, if you go 2-1 does it count as one win overall or two wins for the ranking system? Similarly, if the opponent forfeits after the first match, do you get 1 win or 2? Which is better to Rank Up B01 or B03? I'm in my 2nd month of MTG Arena so any sound experience helps. The sideboard tech is real because Aggro players never quit and Definitely Team Black Splash because permanent exile effects are the best!!!! 🍂🍂🍂🍂
I’m loving simic terror too, it’s nice to see you are sticking to it! Tbh after all the games I really like 1-2 creature more in the main. Your kiora pick last video is nice helps fuel grave and finding 5/5, what do you think about overlord with beans draws and discard is nice, can bounce overlord to do draw more still a 5 beat flyer. The green wurm 5/5 with trample haste coming back from grave is also cool! Lastly splashing black or white I feel isnt that important when you can get rid already enchantments and big boys with 5 dmg spells…I am currently siding 1 red to play pyroclism since go wide decks are the worse matches I feel.
I think bant would be better in paper cause it’s probably a more diverse meta game but sultai is better on arena cause of our helmet gamers that love agro
I came up with a muldrotha list that is super fun and doing well on the ladder, but sometimes it is a bit clunky. Is there a way to submit deck lists? Would love for someone to take a look and let me know how I can improve it.
copy-paste it here id love to check it out as ive been trying muldrotha in the squirming emergence deck as it's just where i feel muldrotha fits best but id love to see someone else's perspective
Best of 1 every deck is hovering around 50% win rate. The odds of you going first is 50%. The overall deciding factor of a game is win is who gets the first turn. Skill and deck building are irrelevant in best of 1.
Whie splash or black splash? Dunno - I'd say if your experience says black works better it is so. But how about no splash? It the splashed things may be useful but dunno if they're worth the cost of hawing a swamp instead of - say Restless Winestalk or Fountainport or something like that. This Town Is Not Enough is really cool.. It would also have synergy with Chrome Host Seedshark and of course anything that's mainly ETB value.
I think that sheltered by ghost is kind of a dead card for too long in the bant version of the deck. having cheap instant speed answer is better in my opinion against decks you would side to protect yourself, and tear asunder deals just as well with most cemetery hate
I call BS. I play with exact copies of these decks and have little to no wins ever. Playing the decks exactly as you and many others are, I've been playing for quite awhile now and I swear something is up. Why am I getting what seems like "rigged" matches almost ALL the time. I'm using top meta decks and still falling down the ladder rather than climbing. Convince me my matches aren't rigged.
It's not just the deck - player skill matters, a lot. Much more than people realise. Try to see _why_ you lost a game after you do, then try to remember that. Spot the patterns and see what to fix. Eventually you'll get better that way. (I don't know what your current skill level is, but that advice applies to everyone, from a new player to someone who just won a Pro Tour.)
@@therealax6 I'm losing because the game refuses to give me lands. If you're going to tell me that's a deck issue, it definitely isn't. I will play unranked matches and go at least 10 games, win or lose, at least Able to PLAY THE GAME. Switch to ranked, never see lands. Using the same exact deck that I just had a bunch of fun/good games with. Ranked IS rigged.

B03 is real Magic. Strategy, Tactic, knowledge.
BO1 is just TH-cam content.
Amusing that none of the games in this video ended up playing any of the splashed black cards at all

Authority + ghosts also hampers floodcaller combo like crazy.
The sheltered value is just so insane

That's very valid tbf
It's a bummer for this deck, but the fact that the order of Verges actually matters in situations like this is such a cool design.
While there's 20 possible verges they could do, I expect them to do enemy verges before they do reverse ally verges...
Great decktech!
well crafted from a well articulated person

A 2-1 win gives you two ranks up, same as a 2-0; a 1-2 loss two ranks down, same as 0-2.
So burnt cookies? I have a feeling we're going to be seeing a lot of transformative sideboards popping up even if they're way too greedy!
I play with BO1 only because I already have enough issues the infrequent with dcd straight to home screen during my matches while playing on the bus.
Did you test Luminous Rebuke for the white splash?....triggers beans and works great with Eddymurk Crab
