Time to be the "Ummm you didn't see this play guy": Josh had an out at the last turns of the game. If he changed his blue court to one of the mana rocks, he could have enough mana to replay Kenrith and reanimate Jimmy's Meteor Golem to target Varolz, which would make Rachel sacrifice a creature to save him but tapping it in the process, removing two attackers. And making a deal to attack Josh with the golem to keep reanimating it until necessary. Sorry guys, I enjoy playing Kenrith because of situations like these
Also the chance for Josh to make Jimmy’s commander indestructible with the last saga chapter- probably wouldn’t have mattered but still a possible out!
honest question here. could josh have made court a copy of fall from favor to enchant the troll to keep it tapped? i am more of a stompy player so enchantments are not my thing so wasnt sure if this would work.

Respect to Rachel for putting that crown on and taking it off every single turn despite having her hair done up so nicely, haha. Wouldn't have blamed her for just setting the crown beside her each time, but she's committed!
I'd maybe agree with Varolz being a 5, but the rest are 1s, maybe 2s at best. They are very well known commanders, and build as if taken directly off of edhrec. They didn't just pick common commanders, but didn't do anything unusual with them. At least we got to see one unusual pick with Varolz
Josh.... re cast Kenrith, and use his last ability to reanimate Meteor Golem for Jimmy, and you might even have enough mana to heal yourself up too....
They went over this when they talked about the show being scripted, where its not scripted but they do play very favorably for content so they they did not go with the most unique decks but a combination of unique but functional.

Jimmy! 25:45 you should have kept the token. Being able to repeat the Smaug triggers each turn was going to be much better that that one mana from the mirror. You also could have dropped another creature like your meteor golem that turn and used your commanders ability to make a very powerful move that may have set all the other players at the table behind.
I primarily play CEDH and one thing Ive learned is that "A lot of mana" doesnt mean anything if he cant do anything with it. I am more scared of hand size than mana size. Its like when someone infinite mana loops and youre like "Ok....sooooo how do you win with that?" I get from a casual perspective its scary, but its really not. Jimmy should have let the cursed mirror version die so he could repeat the treasures if needed and not sending a huge "Oh crap!" signal to the rest of the table. Sometimes its about the mind games and sometimes if you fly too close to the sun you get burned....even if you cant do anything. Not always good to be the perceived threat.
One of my favorite things about early episodes of Game Knights was the interactions of Josh and Jimmy during the post-game interviews/confessionals (whatever they’re called); I hardly knew anything about magic but I could tell everyone was having a ton of fun. I Really liked how this episode felt like the bts team really had fun animating and editing the game. I especially liked the little cutaway to Murph (am I spelling that right?) who immediately put 77 treasures on the screen! And then there was the little cutaway when Jimmy asked for the second animation that just had me laughing!!
Agreed, big miss play imo. Who needs a mana rock instead of a blocker when he has 77 treasures? Then that dragon could die later and get him an additional 14 treasures…..
Great time to do a video like this. I know my friends and i are doing a secret santa deck exchange. I'm sure other people and playgroups are doing something similar. It's nice to showcase playing a deck that somebody else built

She honestly miss played pretty bad…TARGET player reveals their had, why pick the guy with two cards and a locked down commander? Reveal Josh or Rachel’s hand
A monarch Kenrith deck would definitely not be weird. It’s probably a listed popular archetype on EDHREC. Varolz is a more stompy version of Meren. Tymna/Jeska is not unusual but actually conforming to the Obosh requirements would at least make it stand out. I’m not sure what makes an Orthion artifact deck weird. It has less treasure production than expected, I guess… 😅

Red etb has existed for as long as Kiki jiki existed lol
Decks: normal as seeing clouds in the sky
Animations: CRAZY AS HELL
I thought yall were doing weird tribal? Not a single weird creature!
:] I still think this is a banger idea of letting fans contribute in a way that doesn't require too much logistics and planning (travel, auditions, etc)
excited for the episode !!
Ooo fanmade decks are always gonna be interesting. Haven't seen the game yet but my money is on Orthion winning. It's not like Jimmy's ever lost with mono-red on Game Knights
He’s actually won with mono-red before, remember Magda
@@Th3Rad10D3m0m He just loses when he keeps missing land drops. So yeah, there was at least one win 😇
@@Th3Rad10D3m0m Oh yeah forgot about that, and it was a tight win too. Makes sense it'd be with Magda though, she's so strong
Just 2 things:
- this game might be one of the best games i’ve ever seen on youtube
- the graphics. AMAZING work. Really that’s AMAZING.
In what world is Dryad of the Ilysian Grove a dad bod?!
“NO”
That was the funniest no I’ve seen all year and this years almost over. Don’t think any other no will top it this year. Bravo! lol😂
Why only patrons from the US??? Need to mix it up guys.
Those playmats look really cool and work perfectly across from each other
This episode had me scream "what the hell?!" multiple times at the animations!
Not just the flashy ones, the card highlight movement has secondary motion now! Kudos!
That Smaug animation was amazing. Great job editors!!!
Amazing game! Between Jimmy’s Smaug combo, Rachel going under the radar until the perfect moment to pump Varolz, Josh being the king in the castle, and, to me, the best play of the game: Void by Olivia.
Also here is a few time stamps of Olivia being happy because she makes me happy and gosh darn it, I love her.
4:24 Olivia, you are magic stuff floating around.
8:02
8:49 "Terribly offended and hurt" she said, her smile a sunshine.

I need moistcritkal as a guest one of these episodes
And oddonesout and shady penguin
And Matt mercer
we need critikal on game knights lol
No moist critikal
He's not at their play level, or fun level. 😅
Bro Travis taught me how to play magic like 6 years ago, glad to see his deck here!
Nobody played Gollum Scheming Guide😔😞
Ohhh Varolz! I haven't seen this guy in years! I'm really excited for this episode.
Edit: it did the thing! jeeeyyy!
I don't understand why Jimmy sac'd the OG Smaug instead of Cursed Mirror but still an insane turn
Agreed, big miss play imo. Who needs a mana rock instead of a blocker when he has 77 treasures? Then that dragon could die later and get him an additional 14 treasures…..
That Smaug animation was chefs kiss!! Loved that crazy play that jimmy had up his sleeve!
Never seen a kenrith deck before. Seems like a pretty good commander.
He says sarcastically
the edits and transitions in this episode were really well done!!
This seem pretty standard casual decks.
Goes to show you how detached from reality TCZ is.
Heck yeah, I love companion decks! In a format with so many cards to choose from, it’s nice to have a bit of a focused restriction to build within
None of these seem particularly weird at all
that fall from favor animation was INCREDIBLE. bravo
13:54 so you’re playing a fancy dockside extortionist?
Great time to do a video like this. I know my friends and i are doing a secret santa deck exchange. I'm sure other people and playgroups are doing something similar. It's nice to showcase playing a deck that somebody else built
I hope you guys can get Ladee back soon! This crowd was great though. However these decks don't feel that weird
Thankyouthankyouthankyouuuuu for posting all of the deck lists!!! I've been dying to add Mark Rosewater's JBM deck and make sure it runs somewhat similar.
I gotta say, if I had my stuff destroyed, my hand targeted AND got attacked all by the same person in the same turn I’d declare a Blood Feud.
She honestly miss played pretty bad…TARGET player reveals their had, why pick the guy with two cards and a locked down commander? Reveal Josh or Rachel’s hand
Happy Holidays to you all at Command Zone, thank you for helping me start my journey in Magic this year! Can’t wait for more to come! See you in 2025🎉
“Weird” i have played against these types of decks or built them all more than once
Yeah I don't see anything odd. I think this shows you how detached from commander reality TCZ is
@ you want weird u can see my toggo nadier deck its themed around artifact tokens that sac themselves
@@Areopagus lmao how is it their fault when they’re not even the ones building them.
Agree nothing weird here
Should have asked Demo from edhdeckbuilding
NOT GOING TO LIE BUT NOW I Expect fan decks once a month LOL. This is a series that can carry major traction and bring in more viewers as well
One of my favorite things when finding a new commander group is to play decks I don't know, I'm not trying to win, I just want to see new cards and learn a new way to win. It's like a peak at someone else's creative side.
The “cracking a fetch” animation definitely should have been some sort of cracking effect!! 😮
Blue IS a color that is associated with a holiday; Hanukkah’s primary colors are blue and white.
33:55 Thats the single meanest thing I’ve ever seen anyone do
