Just finished replacing the driveshaft spline in my 2003 X5 and sprung for a rebuilt transfer case off eBay for $650. Did the job myself in the driveway. Took me a few days, but totally doable by yourself and saved so much $$$. This video was a great help in completing the job successfully. Thanks 50sKid!
Hey +50sKid, Finally did this job on my wife x5 Saturday and it went smoothly. Thanks to your video and helpful tips, the job was a success and the wife is now very happy.
For your oil pan gasket, there are three E10-Torx bolts to the rear: 23001222887 M8X50 ASA E10-Torx Bolt - 21 Nm (15 ft-lb). Do these up last after doing the 25 sump bolts in a Z-pattern.
Hi my car is acting weird , sometimes when I am in traffic feels like something jumps when on when I press the gal pedal also when I am going in the highway at high speed , what could it be , you think is the transfer case
wow good video. I have a 07 x3 i am have problem. my 4×4 light and abs and brake lights come on .so i look it up and people are saying that its my transfer case gear so got a new gear and the lights are still on what do you think is my next step is .thanks for time
Armando Hilario You should get two 1 liter bottles. If you’ve never changed the fluid, the new stuff you put in will still come out black. Use some of the first bottle to flush out the old stuff and the second one to top it off.

Awesome video! Thanks for sharing! Has anyone got a link to brand new gears? I'd rather not replace with a worn one if possible! Thanks!
When you say to redo the front axle do you mean front differential or do you mean the cv axle?
Thanks 50sKid. Excellent video! Are you planning to do a video on replacing the timing chain guide?
Yes
Looking forward to that video. Thank you sir!
Great work, can i ask you, where are you having your garage?

What was the fluid that used to fill the transfer case with?
With the transfer case on the car. Is there a way I can check the chain without taking it out
What brand is that Impact wrench ?

Read the errors from the computer using a bmw scan tool so that you actually know what the problem is.

I think your problem was the Transfer Case Actuator Motor Gear.
thanks.
What fluid can I use for the transfer case ?
Armando Hilario Only use OEM BMW DTF 1 fluid in the Transfer Case
Thanks
1 liter is enough?
