Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!! We were dreading taking our truck in for a replacement. This was so easy and has solved our problem. We appreciate all of you that share your fixes and information with the public.
Thanks! Good instructions. Check the L-shaped tab that the lock cylinder turns. Mine was somewhat bent from turning against the sticky actuator fork. A little tweak with some heavy pliers straightened it out. When you reinstall, make sure the lock AND the fork are in either the locked or unlocked position.
Well said. Not very confident when it comes to repairs like this, but this great video explained it very well. Both my key cylinder and internal mechanisms were seized up. Some silicone spray, a bit of time to let it work and all is like new again. And it only took a few minutes. Feels good to do something that you know darn well a shop would charge a lot of dollars for. Thanks 100000sp101001 for taking the time to film and post. I love TH-cam for stuff like this!!
Thanks man your video worked for me in less than 60 seconds. Before your video I had been trying to my tail gate door open on my 2004 Avalanche for 4 days. Lol. Thanks!
Thanks for the post! It was super easy once I LISTENED to the video to locate the "tab" (the tab was a very small dot without much of a lip to press down on, in my 2003 Avalanche)
Great Video! Resolved tailgate issues on my 2002 2500 Avalanche. Ditto on the L-shaped tab, that and heavy dose of mother-in-law grease! Maybe another 14 years?
Thanks for the video! I recently bought an '02 Avalanche, and the tailgate lock is stuck. I was just wondering how the plastic bezel was fastened so I wouldn't risk breaking anything unnecessarily.
You probably saved me a ton of money at a Chevy dealership. Thanks! I used a spray on Graphite lub and it worked perfectly. My "L shaped tab was also bent and Bruce was right, a quick fix with a pair of pliers and... good as new.
Thank you! Dreading taking it to a mechanic. Going to go buy some lube and go home and see if I can fix this on my 2004. This is the 2nd time this has happened in about 50,00 miles!
Here I am finding this AMAZING video in May 2024! I'll be following your excellent instructions sir! 😆
Glad I could help. Sorry the quality isn’t better.
