The time, practice, creativity, patience, dedication and a lot of things that includes when a person it's creating makes any piece in something amazing, because when is handmade it means never exist something similar, is unique. That's the real added value.

I went to an all girls convent school and the nuns taught us this. Fifty years later, I still enjoy doing it. I made a quilt for each of my grandchildren that depicts what they enjoy with the squares done this way. 👍

I used to do this as a child. Used to be you could buy a pattern and it's like asew by numbers type of thing but there were* no numbers on the sections. You just have to go with your own judgements. There also were kits with just a pattern and you had to buy the thread separately. I haven't done this since I was maybe 10. Over 20 years ago. I been thinking of how much I miss it. A robin flew right across the road in front of me last summer and I hit him with my car. He died instantly thankfully. I started to cry and ripped out the fabric on the inside of my jacket pocket and wrapped him in it and buried him by the side of the road and lay some wild flowers there. I hope he flies forever with God in heaven.

My great grandmother used to do this. I still have one of her pieces hanging up on my wall, and another on my pillow.

There are still kits and patterns you can buy! There are lots on Etsy. I have a couple patterns in my shop too!
