      @@qeelevators2960 good way to permanently fry the battery. It charges in under 1/2 a day, or 10 hours, but lasts 30 days, or 720 hours. Theres no point to fully leave it plugged in. Since a Quest 2 only has like 3hrs battery life I guess you'd always leave it plugged in as well? Tbh though with this can I'd likely just leave it permanently plugged as well, and I'd put it in my bathroom/bedroom, not a kitchen lol.

      @@m.r1525 that may be true. But the fectures being offered now at this price is not worth it. If they could somehow add a very useful feature, like compression, for around the same price (maybe a bit higher but not too much) then it may be worth it. If not then the whole thing is a bust.

    I actually purchased this a few months ago specifically for my bathroom. I think it is the perfect size trashcan for the bathroom. The fact that it conceals the trash is a plus. I am a neat freak, so NOT looking at bathroom trash was initially what I was looking for. Glad I purchased!

    It's super cool but I agree with you on it needing to be a bit bigger. It's great for an office or room trash can since those are usually smaller but the price tag seems a bit high. The other issue appears to be the infrared lid thing. Not a fan of the timer on that thing, hopefully the newer ones have a feature to keep the lid open for a bit longer or all together

    I've got several trashcan's like these! One in the camping trailer and in my motorhome. I also got a small one in the bathroom and a large one in the kitchen! Especially in a camper it's ideal; no smell's and no hassle to tie up the bag! From the same brand I recently bought the 'DRY FLUSH TOILET'; absolutely brilliant! Each and every 'do' is sealed! There are 14 bag's in the cartridge for the toilet and after the last bag is used, it will open and after the new cartridge is placed it will close itself!

      Yeah agreed. That thing looks like it actually works pretty well but proprietary bags and their fairly small size (honestly looks about the size of a plastic grocery bag, and I can pack those full where this would seal the bag when I'd consider it only half full) me no like,

    • @ikmnification5737
      @ikmnification5737 4 ปีที่แล้ว +22

      I don't think it technically uses trash bags, seems that when it seals the bag, it creates a new "bag" from the seal. So what you're buying is one long roll of a plastic cylinder that the device heat seals to make bags, this is why his first bag (of air) is much smaller than his full bag (and then the final speed test bag is between the two in size).

    • @jaysecure
      @jaysecure 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Keep in mind it's pretty much brand new to the market so "others" haven't had a chance to produce bags at this stage. But like most things like this, you can bet some other company will eventually make something cheaper for it.

    When I first saw that I thought the lights were ultraviolet to sanitize and keep the smell down. So they aren't ultraviolet?

    • @Okusar
      @Okusar 4 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      That's what I was thinking too. If it is a UV-C light source (the sanitizing spectrum of UV) then leaving the light on while the lid is open is a very bad design. UV-C exposure can be very damaging to exposed skin and to the eyes. Not to mention all the ozone it produces as well.

    • @BaggedMx5

      Who says uv light keeps smell down? Any proof to that?

    • @Okusar
      @Okusar 4 ปีที่แล้ว +26

      @@nowonmetube UV-C is energetic enough that it is capable of destroying the DNA and nucleic acids in cells and microorganisms. Since a lot of odors, especially in garbage, are caused by molds and bacteria breaking things down, killing or disrupting those microorganisms reduces the smell.
      The danger is that it has the same damaging effect on human cells and DNA. It's similar to UV-B (the kind that causes sunburns and skin cancers) but is much more energetic and so is capable of doing a lot more damage at a much faster rate. Most commercial applications of UV-C try to contain the light with enclosures or otherwise avoid exposure to humans and animals.
      The sun also produces massive amounts of UV-C but fortunately most of it is blocked by the upper atmosphere.
      If you still have questions just do a web search for "ultraviolet germicidal irradiation".

      thats because these arent actually bags, its a long tube of material that creates bags from the seal, when the heat seals the bag, the other side of the seal becomes the bottom of the next bag..... however thats even more ridiculous for the price since a long tube of material is way cheaper to make than actual individual bags :/

    I can see this being ideal for someone who is handicapped. I got a Simple Human motion/voice 12 gal., wide top can. It opens when you say"open can" and "close can". Also motion senses -- great when my hands are full with anything messy. It holds a lot, and is a metal, solid build. It doesn't seal the bags, but I LOVE the convenience. It was pricy $199.00, but a year later it's still going strong.

    The rings are almost a dollar per bag (80 cents) for the regular ones and just over a dollar per bag ($1.2) with the biodegradable ones. $119.95 for the trash can itself. You'd have to seal and throw away 120 bags before you're down to having payed $1/ used trash bag, but by that point you've also spent roughly $100 - $150 on the bags themselves. Which also is what you'd be stuck with paying for bags yearly if you filled up 1 bag every 3 days or so.

He pulled the ring out and and knocked it over and well diapers and wet wipes all over the floor. I replaced the bag ring thinking he wouldn't be able to do that again. The dog is smarter than me! again pulled out the ring and though there was nothing in the bag all the bag material was pulled down from the ring though it's still connected to the ring, I can't figure out how to stuff it back inside. haven't heard from the company either. the replacement bag ring costs about 25$ so now unless I buy another ring..its now just an ordinary trash can

Most of the time it detects motion when you walk by and stays open so then it smells. So it stays open for no reason most of the time, useless. We just don’t produce as much trash as over there, that can is more than big enough for the trash that doesn’t go in the recycle bins or igloo’s (we have food/compostable, paper, plastic, glass/metal cans, batteries/electric, bottles for deposit(you get money back for them at the store) and what doesn’t go in any of the others, which means that can doesn’t need to be huge).

      @@WintrBorn I think that is a crying shame that rural places do not have access to recycling in 2020. I, being in the city, do have recycling but it has been massively cut because china is not taking our crap anymore. We only recycle 2 plastics, paper, tin, aluminum and steel.
      In my house, we do not purchase food items that come in plastic in the first place where we can help it. I have a berkey water filter and a reusable bottle that I never leave home without. I compost and before I could compost, I used a worm bin. We have been brainwashed to think that we need that stiff and we do not. I can understand the use on this. However I think they should have a sensor on the side facing down so you can just step in front of it and have it open. Also, I would much prefer no lid so I can just toss and go but people with kids might have issues. Maybe a silicone seal on the lids to help keep in odors. As for the charing indicator, I can guess that's on the inside so when you use it you see those lights that remind you when to charge it. Though I feel like a constant power supply would be better for some cases. This would be perfect for diapers and such though. Auto seals the bag and everything. It would be cool if it had a front panel where it could push/eject the bag before it auto changed the bag. So you could just walk up and see the bag and grab it and use the trash can in one shot.

    They did just release it. And I’m sure once they get a larger one that people will want the price would probably go up. Take coolers for instance. I’m sure a lot of people said “oh why put a fridge/freezer in your car when you can get a way cheaper cooler and buy ice” they sold those fridge freezers for so cheap and now look at them. ARB goes for about 900 now. About 3 years ago they were selling for about 700. Dometic same story. This is them testing waters see what kind of demand there is and what people like and dislike about them and improve on that. I’d wait until they come out with bigger ones and see how long they last! Who knows maybe they’ll get a different bag setup where you can just go to your local supermarket and purchase the bags there for cheaper. Or a different company that sells identical bags for cheaper. I know Food Saver had the same issue when they were first released. Could only use their bags. And now the market is full of bags for their products that work. Just not as well.
