      Thanks Sir! Enjoy your week, I’m hoping to take advantage of the extra hour of daylight and nice weather and get a lot of cutting done.

      Del, Just order one. Lead times are 12-14 weeks, plenty of time to prepare a location to hide it from management 😜

      My little 28C is a beast for the 28-ton class! As long as the knots are not too bad, it can handle the 12-way wedge.

    That 35 is a beast of a machine. Definitely impressive. Usually you start seeing those machines flex and twist but that seems damn stout!!

    In clean wood, my 28C would keep up, but not beat, this beast. Wish had bought the 35-ton version instead. Oh well. Will be running the 12-way wedge some more, just to see how far I can push it in tree service wood!

      Doc - I hemmed and hawed on weather or not to just go with the 28. The major factor was my wife wanted the “bringer back” pull back arm on the box wedge. Wolfe Ridge only makes the Box Wedge machines with the 35T cylinder, so that settled that… Then it was like, well since we’re going big and not going home… might as well option for the Honda 800 and the double pump and make it a real machine 😉☺️

      @AroundTheYard-MN hopefully I can refine my process and get a better work flow. Also better physical conditioning to cut more in a day. My saws and splitter can work harder and longer than I can.

    Which wedge tears up the 12-16in rounds more, aka makes a bigger mess, the 12-way or box wedge?

    • @AroundTheYard-MN
      @AroundTheYard-MN  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That’s a tough one. If they are really clean and straight it probably a tie.. I think the the 12-way makes more mulch that isn’t usable. The box wedge makes kindling and 4x4 and mulch, the 12-way makes more of something in-between full sticks of kindling and mulch, like a 6” piece of something that isn’t good for anything. - I really enjoy the box wedge for the lack of touching the wood.

      Brent, I noticed you had your wedge sitting low. When we get our machine I would run it 1 or 2 inches higher.

    Thank goodness it wasn’t cottonwood again! You’ve probably had your fill of that stuff 😂

      I still have one more pile of even bigger stuff to split, but I’ll wait until I get the valve dialed in before we try it again. Thanks for watching, have a great weekend Around the Yard!

    Hello, nice machine.
    Wanted to make one myself, do you have tips for me or maybe a technical drawing with dimensions.

      At a given HP the less tonnage you have the faster the cycle time. - It’s a balancing act. What do you want more, Speed, HP, or Tonage…. Pick 2.

    She definitely got the power. I think anything over a 6 way makes to much trash. Also time is money keep up the good work

      Thanks Dan - the six way wedge is the one I don’t have. They all have a niche size that they serve best.

    Hallo , mooie machine.
    Wou er zelf ook een maken , heb jij tips voor mij of misschien een technische tekening met maten.

      @AroundTheYard-MN  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It might be easier/ faster to buy a used machine, that’s what I started with.

    If I get good enough shavings and splinters, I save it and mix it in with my deliveries and bagged wood. Otherwise is bonfire material. Am surprised my 28C runs the 12-way wedge as good as it does.

      You’re only 7 tons and 12hp light, if it’s straight nice and easy - it should work reasonably well.

      @@AroundTheYard-MN if any splitter punches outside of its weight class, it is the 28C. It still surprises me with its grunt after 60hrs on it.

    They waste way to much valuable wood for me

    • @AroundTheYard-MN
      @AroundTheYard-MN  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That is a fair point. Box wedges save time and touches when creating very uniform pieces. Keep in mind it also depends on what you put through them. If the wood is knotted or twisted vs straight and clear depends greatly on the finished product. Have a great day Around the Yard! Brent

      Sure does, but it also makes 4x4’s like crazy.
