I was a little surprised that the night view of the rear facing camera was so much darker than the front. The overall quality of both views was really good and look forward to your expanded review of the new Blackvue. I have been a Blackvue user for years and always really look forward to your "boots on the ground" reviews....keep those reviews coming.
Blackvue has been left behind by much cheaper models now
@@chefgav1 cheaper being the key word there...
You should try the viofo a139 pro
@@egovorch cheaper doesn't necessarily mean inferior. 139 pro smokes the blackvue picture quality
So can I assume that this new 970X doesn't use the latest Sony Starvis 2 sensor? In which case it's a NoGo and I'll wait for the next iteration before I upgrade from what I currently have.
That new Sony STARVIS sensor is an absolute must. Night footage on the 900s has always been worse than the 750s because of that.
Wow these look bad - that's weird. I was expecting them to be really good based on the price. Viofo is def the way to go. Wow.
Go with the VIOFO A129 pro duo. Much better video picture for half the cost!
I need to get this Blackvue!! :) Thanks for video.
Go voodoo and save some money as you will be disappointed
@@chefgav1 Do you mean Viofo? 😀
This looks waaaay better than our Vantrue N4.
Hello. If you had to pick between the 900 vs 970. Which would you go with? I am replacing my 750 and am not sure which to get
I like the music. It is more entertaining than the video. :>) Cheers
🤣
I'm happy with my A139 Pro 3-Channel that got delivered to me earlier this week. No Blackvue for me.
@SkyeHack Hi is your Viofo still working reliably heard they have issues especially with hot weather?
Maybe switching CPUs wasn't the best of ideas
They need to add the feature to remotely monitor the battery percentage
i was told they are
But on their website, it says 970X two-channel LTE North American model but all I'm seeing is the regular model that doesn't say LTE that uses the connectivity module. From a lot of TH-cam videos
Right there’s different models, one with LTE built in and another that uses the external model. They both have the same video quality though,
@@VortexRadar so in your personal humble opinion would you recommend a person to go with the LTE model or the non-LTE model
@Vortex Radar
does the LTE model also act like a hotspot without the module like the regular one need?
@@bradhaughton6698 You can currently get the LTE module for the non-LTE version for free as a launch promo if you order direct from Blackvue. I'd go that route since it's cheaper and the dashcam is more compact. It does make for one extra cable you'd need to unplug when you wanna remove the memory card though.
@@VortexRadar ok
For $560, hell no.... there are a lot more cams way cheaper that provide just as good quality and features.... nothing special about this product.
You haven’t seen it compared to anything yet
Any suggestions? You have I'm currently looking
@@Fee.1 viofo A139 pro, there was a comparison video on licence plate reading 😅
@@cjw1927 from who? Link? Thanks

When does the 970 come out?
It launches today. I’ve added links to the description for you. 👍
blackvue or thinkware?
Would you upgrade from an DR900s?
I’ve been thinking about that. I’ve got another video coming later today that compares the two so you can see for yourself.
Mine front and rear looked worse than my 950X Plus. Sending it back to blackvue for inspection but they didn't say anything about the rear.
Several of us have reported that and yeah, I don’t think it’s an anomaly.
@@VortexRadar Ok so it's not just me, but that is troubling.
It is. I’m kinda scratching my head with this new model. They’re replacing the 900X Plus with the 970 and I’m not as comfortable recommending it now… I’m also trying to figure out what to do with my own car, potentially adding a second cam up front to get better video quality.
@@VortexRadar I scheduled DHL to pick up my 970 tomorrow, so I don't know how long this will delay my review. I am wondering if there even is an issue with it and its just a downgrade. Maybe due to chip shortages or cost cutting? But yea hard to recommend if its a downgrade.
I am still running my 4 year old A119 V3 alongside a DR900X Plus in my truck. Have a 2023 Prius on reserve, dunno what I will put in that. Thinking the A139 Pro in 2ch mode.
Sorry, we have a dod 370w dash cam in 1080p with the Sony sensor that's a lot clearer then this.
You can’t compare as this is because of the tube compression
I hope they're not getting rid of the 900x plus because for the price I would expect better
It looks like they are replacing it
is it me or the rear camera video footage looks super low quality compare to the front
Rear is 1080p only. Pretty common on dash cams.
1 is 4K the other 1080
@@MarcusBrannon not really. Most fear are now 2k even budget ones are 2k
Are there other 4K/2K setups besides the Thinkware U1000? Usually it’s 4K/1080p or 2K/2K.
does anyone make a wireless rear cam?
How would it get power?
@@VortexRadar magic :)
Hey, have you taken a look at the new Ring dashcam? The Amazon reviews are sort of meh at best but as it's a product from a newcomer in the space I was curious of the differences it has with the regular brands you usually review.
Yeah I’ve got one. Just gotta finish some other videos before I can get to that one.
That ring dash is garbage. Huge monthly subscription, terrible video quality
@@VortexRadar The video quality is bad. I saw one review from a large channel claim they blurred license plates for privacy and all I could think is the camera already blurs the license plates. You can only see them if they are right in front of you not moving.
The image looks like bad and not smooth 😢
Where do you buy them at?
This was a review unit that Blackvue sent to me ahead of time for testing. They're now available for sale from BBMC and direct from Blackvue. I added some links for you in the description.
No Sony starvis 2 still only 1080 on the rear what a huge disappointment
Quality video not really happy look like GTA 5 in this desh cam now mobile phone every six months new version coming out but image quality not accepteble
