Mike. I'm happy to be able to contribute. Thank you for making this video. If you look at my name you can probably guess why. LOL. My dream is to visit my ancestral homeland of Castletownbere, and your videos have inspired me think that someday I will also walk the Ireland way.
Thank you so much for the Ko-fi, very much appreciated. I have no connection to the history only that I walked the Beara-Brefine Way. Sadly, this epic story just isn't known in Ireland widely enough and I felt I needed to make the effort to tell it. I met a number of your fellow O'Sullivans and one thing is for sure your people won't let the story die so I'm honoured you liked the video. It will probably take me a while to get the next one up so bear with me as I want to get it right. I really hope you get to do it as the Beara Peninsula is a phenomenally beautiful place.
Great video as always, always good to learn more about the history of Beara-Breifne way! :D As I've walked it, I don't think too much about the gravity of the situation of what they went through until you see facts of how many people died at certain points of it. So crazy to think they did it in a really horrible winter, I barely like to hike when it's raining! This is totally getting me geared up to finish it this summer when I can leave Dublin again! Thanks for the shout-out, another beer well-earned!
Thank you so much, yeah I really hope you get back this year to finish it. Ah stop, the story is a Hollywood blockbuster and if they did write this story we probably wouldn't buy it, it would seem too far fetched. Originally I had only intended to talk about the history but now I feel an obligation to tell the story properly. Cheers for the beer :).
I have recently been looking at my family tree and found this: Donal Cam O'SULLIVAN MY 11TH GREAT-GRANDFATHER This is on my mothers side. Thank you for explaining the bravery of this REMARKABLE man.
Thank you for your kind words. The story is incredible and sadly in Ireland, it has been somewhat forgotten. We really should be teaching this in schools. Always an honour to be contacted by a descendent.
This is the link to part 1 sorry you couldn't find it I must check the settings. th-cam.com/video/4TiS76RxfX0/w-d-xo.html Thank you for those kind words.
Awesome production. This is the best documetary of The O'Sullivan march I have seen. Well done.
