Agree with everything you say. I have had a poor view of my body(shame) and it has stopped me from doing things in my life. I have been cold water swimming since last May and I have grown to love my body and I do not care about what people are thinking or seeing. 57 years it’s taken me to get here, embrace the cold and feel grateful for what your body is doing for you. Feeling blessed that I have at last found my tribe and the love I now have for the healing properties of cold water 😍🏊♀️🌊x
Waaaahooooo! What a super point to have arrived at. Absolutely brilliant that you've made it in and found your people and a love for your body and not give a hoot about onlookers. I'm sending you a socially distanced hug!
Lovely video this week Rachel. I have been swimming in the sea for years but a few years ago I started to feel self conscious about going in, especially in the winter when people tend to watch as you’ re often the only person venturing into the sea, I’m 54 and have awful varicose veins on my legs and generally have a few saggy bits! One day a lady stopped me when I was getting out and told me she thought I was amazing! I realised that as you say most people are just watching and thinking “ wow! I’d love to do that” I gave myself a good talking to and the feeling I get after being in the sea makes me feel like superwoman anyway so what’s to worry about! Thank you for highlighting this I’m sure you will have changed quite a few minds! Sorry for the ramble!!
It’s a great ramble Gwen... no need to apologize. I got a lot out of your comment, thanks for sharing your thoughts and experiences. I hope you are having a great day.
Thanks for the lovely story Gwen, it's heartening to hear how you got over your period of self-consciousness. That lady will never know how she helped you to turn it around, it is such a lesson in being kind! I imagine it took some courage for her to speak up too! Keep on swimming 🏊😃
Body image is a huge thing nowadays and as a personal trainer, I find this is also one of the biggest demotivational points to exercise. What I love about the Wild Swimming community is we are all-inclusive, we do not see shape or colour but only that we are all doing it for our own reasons.
You are absolutely fantastic. Thank you so much for making this on a topic that is so important and affects so many of us, especially women, especially fat women.
I have just seen a few posts recently where the author hints about feeling held back by their body. I wanted to address that as it's not something I've spoken to others about much really but at times Ihave really struggled with my body, I felt I could speak to you guys about it and I knew I'd be with kindred spirits xx
“A lovely gentle way of encouraging people”... this is so 💯spot on! Thank-you for saying this, I completely agree with you... Rachel is very positive, sincere, and genuine. I hope you are having a great day.
It’s a sad reality that we live in a society that is infiltrated by diet culture. The benefits of our physical and mental health should always supersede our physical appearance, but of course, this can be easy to say (or type). As a teenager (several decades ago) I had issues with body image, disordered eating, and an obsession with fitness. I got my degree in Physical Education and it wasn’t until I stood in front of impressionable young women, as their PE teacher, that I had to practice what I preached about the importance of exercise and physical activity, and the non-importance of how one looks while doing it. Thanks so much Rachel for your grace and positivity in broaching this sensitive subject. You are amazing!!
Thank you for sharing your back story Mary, it's really helpful for people to see where confident people have emerged from. So important to practice what you preach around the youngsters, they'll love you for it. I've certainly had some extreme fad dieting and exercising too much. I'm better at it as I age, but I have to watch myself and check in to make sure I don't get obsessed. I would prefer to give an air of not giving a hoot, even if at times that is not the case!
I can honestly say that the outdoor swimming community is the best. I hate all my lumps and bumps, yet I've had plenty of conversations with total strangers whilst stood in just my swimsuit or even whilst getting changed (in a robe). Most are curious if it's cold or how long I've been doing it, whilst some just think I'm bonkers. The people I swim with are of all ages, men and women and we rarely have conversations about our body shapes. Thanks for sharing this vlog x
Yes. Never been in the sea, or swam since i was a child, because i don't look like Pammy, but having been in the sea and found this channel...I'm off. Thank you Rachel.

I was diagnosed with breast cancer late last year and had a lumpectomy so I have a fairly large, visible scar high on my breast. I was delighted to find that I had no concerns at all about putting on a swimsuit.
Such an important topic. I deal with shame every time I put my suit on and then disrobe to get into the pool or ocean. The drive to swim wins but I wish I didn’t have the corresponding shame to deal with every time.
Pat I'm pleased that you are still getting in, it's good to face down these feelings. Maybe try thinking about what's brilliant about your body next time you're in? xx
I love your generosity and sincerity . . . and those great advices . This is the reason I love your most practical ideas and thoughts, Thank you for being the way you are nice lady !!!
Thank you for watching and for the lovely comment. I'd like everyone to be able to access outdoor swimming at their own level and a safeky as possible, that's why I make the videos. I also like to dispel myth and rumours.
I heard a quote once: when you’re in your 20’s you worry what people are saying about you, when you’re in your 40’s you don’t care what people are saying about you and when you’re in your 60’s you realise no one was talking about you in the first place!
Aw Stuart, what a lovely message, thank you. I love making the videos and hopefully encouraging people to dip a toe out of their comfort bubble and enjoy the benefits 🏊😃
I love how wholesome and encouraging you are! This is such an important message. It is always a good reminder to check in with how amazing our bodies can be at any size, ability or whatnot. While it isn't always easy, swimming has been such a boost to my own body confidence which used to stop me from doing all sorts! When I started swimming I would go far from where I lived and with people I didn't know know, as I was terrified someone I would know would see me. It was very silly, but I met loads of new people and made friends and now even swim with colleagues which would have been unthinkable two years ago. For anyone worried about it, I can attest: no one cares, you will be fine and you will be so grateful to yourself for trying it!
Thank you for sharing your journey. This is such an inspirational comment. I hope you’re comfortable to swim closer to home now. Fantastic that you can swim with colleagues too!
When I see a runner or swimmer who could be described as heavier built I think ‘well done, that’s brave and good for them’ - I hope that doesn’t come across as patronising, I genuinely admire someone pushing themselves. Great video once again.
I don’t think that a thought can be patronising, I know how much mental effort it can take to get out for a run so like to think that anyone who sees me is thinking ‘nice one or good on you’. It’s best to assume those who are watching you swimming or running or something are doing so out of admiration 🏊♀️🏃♀️🤩
This has made me so emotional, thankyou so much Rachel. I've just shared it in a fat-body positive group that I help run on Facebook. Anything to get more people enjoying outdoor swimming as it's such an amazing activity that integrates mind and body and helps people gain fitness and mobility.
Aw Kate, you've made my evening. Thanks for watching and commenting. I want everyone to feel welcomed and know that our bodies can do amazing things, if only we give it half the chance. I hope some of the group members think to give it a go - welcome one and all x
Hey Cami thanks for letting me know. I hope it encourages someone to give it a go and find their strong self in the water. Has spring started to show her colours with you yet? Rach
Lovely video. I hesitated to start swimming because tho I’ve always loved the water and playing in it, body surfing, sea kayaking, snorkeling, etc., I never learned how to swim properly. Along with weight gain after an accident, I was doubly self conscious. But I love water and I’m living on an island again and having missed being near water, the urge was to great and I decided to just do it. I watched loads of how to videos and by trial an error I’ve managed to make it an enjoyable habit. I learned pretty quickly no one cares about what you look like, or if you’re new and figuring it out. Swimmers are genuinely happy for you! It’s also fantastic physical therapy, I’ve healed more from swimming in two months than I have in the the almost three years since the accident. It’s actually remarkable how therapeutic it is, physically and mentally. Thank you for these encouraging and informative videos!
Rachel, I've been watching many of your videos and think you are stunningly brave & powerful. Addressing your subject of body image, your amazing confidence and gentle encouragement make you such an attractive person. You are such an inspiration. I've been swimming weekly. As the temps decline, your videos have encouraged me.
Great thoughts. I try not to look at myself in my costume, so I can't focus on things I don't like. The feeling I get doing it frees me up to not care! The biggest thing I can't do without, is my shoes , pebbles are so painful.
I always have something on my feet for getting in and out and mostly for swimming. Pebbles are horrid and slow you down getting out and I don't want to step on a sea creature or underwater debris and hurt the soles of my feet. If it's deep enough, I sometimes wear crocs to get in and then tow them from my tow float 🏊😃
@@EverydayAthleteRach I discovered swimming was possible by the purchase of the shoes from a sailing shop in Cowes last summer. I've disabilities, so no balance. Simple solution. 😀
Wild swimming has given me improved body acceptance. I wouldn’t say confidence, but it’s certainly made me accept my body and all its flaws and strengths.
That's a super starting point. Appreciating what out bodies are acapable of in the water is a huge shift in the narrative compared to the worry of what we might look like. Enjoy the water 🏊😃
Great video! All through my 20's I hated my body and the way it looked. I hit my 40's and started outdoor swimming and now I hardly have any hang ups. I have my down days but I tend to avoid looking in mirrors too much on those days and the memories of my exploits in the water more than outweighs the negative thoughts. It's the best thing at I've ever done! :)
Absolutely brilliant video Rachel... I have absolutely loads of hangups about my body image. I braved the outdoor swimming and it is tremendously liberating. Thank you so much for sharing what many of us dare not...
Well done for braving it Philippa, it's like a secret club of joy that you have to have a go at to understand. Exciting to feel liberated (and a little bit proud too, eh?). Thank you for watchin 🏊😃
I'm a 58 y.o. lady with a few extra pounds. When I started outdoor cold season swimming, I was pretty optimistic about my fat layers being an asset for cold swimming. It would help me keep warm longer and float better, lol. 😄 And it does ! 👍🏼 I was less optimistic about my look, because I don't like my belly and my thighs to be exposed. I was a bit scared people would look at me because I am usually the only one around swimming in that mountain lake outside of the summer season. I especially hated to get out of the water with people staring, and having my clothes stick and twist around my body, lol. Being cold and awkward didn't help. So I sew 2 large towels together and made a super large and comfy changing robe that was a huge improvement ! In the beginning, I started with a legging + a short sleeve shirt and found it very practical to swim like that. The only downside was the time it needed to dry. Now I bought a "tankini" bathing suit that I really like : it's a one piece bathing suit with a longer bottom part (like a short), so it covers the body well (belly + bottom and upper thighs). I love it ! Thank you for inspiring people about the outdoor swimming magic, and to trust our body incredible adaptability ! 🙂
Great video. First time I went into sea swim, a lady said I am brave. I have to take a deep breath and hold my head high. Its not easy. I did think of running gear. I have a light sport fabric t shirt and trousers. I'll give them a try. Great video.
Thanks Jane, I find that outdoor swimming is mostly about your own experience and zoning out everyone/thing that might disturb that (not the safety stuff, obvs). Enjoy the water in any way you like, hope you find an outfit which works for you and gives you confidence. Remember people are always looking in awe at what you're up to and rarely at what you've got on or your body x
Thank you so much for this Rachel. I love your attitude and your non-preaching approach. So refreshing. Where I swim in the sea at Cleveleys there are often bystanders and passers-by who engage us in conversation as we go in or come out, and it's clear that the issue of body image is a real concern. We are all shapes and sizes so I hope we're doing our bit towards making OWS more do-able. Thanks and keep up the good work. Xx
Thanks for watching Catherine. I'm always heartened that there is a range of bodies being posted on social media, and I think this will encourage those ont he sidelines to give it a go. Fingers crossed. Keep on getting in 🏊😃
Hi Rachel, just watched this great video, I am one of the feel the fear but do it anyway people. I think most people are too self absorbed to care how other people look. at the moment I am facing the swim in colder weather challenge, I did buy neoprene separate's, hate the trousers as like you said way too much buoyancy for me. I bought neoprene boots and gloves and hoping I can swim through most of the winter, wish me luck and thanks for all the great advice - Jackie, Wexford, Ireland
I just went for my first open water swim with a friend. You are my hero! Your video's allready tought me a lot. Love this video, I think you are a great rolemodel. Greetz from the Netherlands 💦
This really is an excellent topic to address as body image probably does stop people to take up swimming. It never stopped me personally because I love swimming too much and because I observed a long time ago when frequenting the nude beach on a German bathing lake that people there didn't give a fig about their size or age. There were some really fit types, a few overweight people (usually were the first in the water in spring) and mostly people in between. But there was no body cult as on the textile beach on the same lake. Somehow every body was just right when not forced into clothing made for different shapes. I noticed the same kind of irrelevance of body shapes in various swimming squads, where people were admired for their abilities as swimmers which had nothing to do with their weight or shape. Outdoor swimming is all about enjoying the water and the surrounding nature and maybe about improving your swimming skills. The problem is you'll never know unless you get in in the first place.
Absolutely! I hope one or two poeple feel they can give it a go after watching the video. You're right, once you know (you're not going to be judged) you know!
Thank you Rachel for your really great videos. Very informative and positive. I bought some basic gear after finding your videos. I went for my first dip on Saturday. It was cold but I came out looking forward to the next time! My main fears were being seen in my swim suit & the water being too deep, ( I don’t have confidence in the water) your advice really gave me the boost I needed to just get in. Thank you!
Great video! Thanks for talking about this. I definitely have felt low confidence, but I have tried to not let it stop me from doing anything. It is a great conversation to have though. Life is too short to worry about what people think :)
You're so right, and that is a great phrase! Life is too short to worry what people think. Just about to watch your video of your first group walk in months..
Just do it guys! I’m over weight and not exactly body confident. I did however feel rather self conscious for a young lady wearing a thong on the beach last week! 🙈 just glad my husband and 3 boys were not with me!
Hi Rachael I agree with all what you say about body Image. I still feel very body conscious and have done all my life and i am 58 now. swimming is one of the only places that i can forget about it once i am in the water. I am 5Ft 8In and 10.5 stone so it is not my size, i do not know why. when was in my teen and twenties i played water polo which was good only head was above the water. I hate going in Gym's, i know that no one is looking at me. so i love my swimming.
Brilliant Rachel! A delicate subject for most of us I suspect, but so sensitively discussed and with great suggestions for overcoming such feelings. I think people are in awe of outdoor swimmers, not judgemental of their appearances. Did the clothing keep you slightly warmer? (No gloves I noticed). Loved hearing the shingle under foot & Gulls calling!
Thanks for noticing the lack of gloves, it was partially because I didn't want to over-complicate what's needed to swim for the first time, but was surprisingly bearable. I may be reaching the start of free hands season! I was pleased the gills were in action, I think their calls add a bit of atmosphere..
Thanks Rach for this subject we all will recognise I suppose. I still cannot find a swimsuit wich realy fits me(lumb and bumps). And now I am at a point that it is not the swimsuits but it is my mindset (how a badingsuit should look on me)wich I have sometimes difficulty to turn around. One of the lovely things of swimming outside especially in cold water is that it brings you imediately in the ' now' and in your body sensations....so no room for esthetics at that point. Never any body issue problem when I am IN the water. More an issue before I go in the water and getting everything fitted. And I noticed, the more I swim , the less it bothers me anymore. It brings me more in my bodyly sensations wich I prioritize much more than my looks lately...and helps me to accept also more that I am/look as I look in this moment.
Mi this is so well put. It sounds like you are winning the body image perception vs what you know you will gain in sensations and freedom once you get in. Remind yourself of this everytime you are doubtful. Look at the water and think about the feeling. You can't control other people's thoughts, but you have a good shot at reigning your own in. Enjoy the water and keep on getting in 🏊😃xx
very helpful thoughts. Something I have always struggled with. Feel the cold intently and have acute sensory issues; often watch a local group in the river who are encouraging me to get in, even if I need a thick wetsuit, earplugs, noseclip etc to do so. Havent done it yet as I'd look daft, but maybe one day!
Best video yet. Good encouragement for all. I am going the opposite way. After having winter skins I am getting back into wetsuit for an event. Some tips on tolerating wetsuit would be good. Blargh. On...and off... change in swim stroke....
Thanks for the idea Emma, I have a couple of videos about wetsuits (type wesuit into the search bar of my youtube channel page) on how to put one on, how to take one off easy peasy, how to deal with neck rub. I'll have a think about your suggestion and see what I can come up with..
Ahhh Rachel ❤ I love this and the confidence it gives via the questions ie is it ur body or mind stopping you. I started off swimming in leggings and a compression top and trainers it worked well. Xx
Lovely words couldn't say it any better. I'm one of the lucky ones that is happy in a bikini. I do mud runs so we have swim sections and I do those in my gym gear, i wear swim briefs as they dry quicker. In the colder seasons I'll wear a long sleeve top and swimming with clothes/trainers is doable. Def recommend everyone who'd like to do it, give it a go. Ignore society's crazy rules, no one is looking, just have fun.
What a great spirit Emma, thank you for your positive and encouraging comment. I hope one person watches the video and feels there's something there for them to try and give it a go 🏊😃
Got so much to catch up on with your videos but I want to tell you as it seems relevant here - I think you look fab model like in your cossies but all the same that's not why I watch your videos I promise lol - I'm so glad you feel focused on yourself though rather than what people think as you've no need to let body confidence be an issue for you :) even if you weren't physically attractive (which you are) you are a fab attractive person and a gem for YT and the outdoor swimming community :) Myself I adore the feeling of being barefoot but I get embarrassed to show them unless I've had a pedi and even then... So I like that you can wear booties in the water but all the same I prefer to be barefoot in the water to feel the connection with nature so what a dilemma eh :D I'm working on not giving a * * * * about my many imperfections though and making progress :) Hope you are well Rach :)
Hi Dave, thank you for your lovely comment. I hope that just one person sees this video and it gives them the courage to take a step towards getting in the water. As for the pedi before getting in, unless you're swimming as part of an exhibit in an aquarium it is doubtful anyone without a telephoto lens could spot your tootsies! Have a great week!
Hi Alice, I don't swim any seerious distance head-up, if I do, it's almost certainly a drift downstream. You can try a flatter stroke with your head closer to/in the water, you could reduce the amount of neoprene on the legs (by making it into a shortie)?
Hello Rachel. I watch all of videos and they are so helpful. I have been swimming in an outdoor pool that is heated to 23 degrees. The heat goes off at the end of October and I intend to swim until then. However I want to continue in the pool when the heat is turned off and they are open for cold water swimming. I have overcome my concerns about how people view my body and now the only thing I am anxious about in cold water swimming is my body’s ability to cope because I have asthma that is triggered by cold air. I don’t know if wetsuit would help, maybe just a jacket one? It would keep my chest and back warm. Would a cold water dip strengthen my body or make me ill? I have a neoprene hat that covers my ears ready for when this warm spell starts to disappear as the cold ales effects my inner ear. Do you have any idea, suggestions, thoughts about how someone like me could partake in cold water swims? Thank you. Best wishes. Jayne.
Hi Jayne, the first thing I'd say is speak to your doctor about wanting to carry on swimming. The second thing is I have mild asthma and have found that regular swimming has been fine. I still use my medication, but have, touch wood, never had a problem in the water. I have found that as I lost weight I also lost my tolerance to cold water, so will probably put on a wetsuit quite a bit over the winter until I can regain habituation to the cold, but, for me, it's to do with feeling chilly and not to do with asthma.
I had BC and a good bit of my left breast removed so am very uneven so in winter I wear M&S post surgery bras under my wetsuit and then switch to their post surgery swimsuits in the summer. I was worried that people would look and then ask about it but not one person ever said a word, it was all in my head! On the plus side after stripping off and having so many strangers looking at me during treatment I have Zero issues with 'modesty' on the beach........
I'm so thrilled to hear that rather than hold you back, your whipping your kit off for medical staff has empowered you when it comes to outdoor swimming. Keep enjoying the water 🏊😃
I figured a long time ago that I was never going to be tall and slender so I might as well go with what I actually was, which is small, sturdy and round. Then I came across a claim that only around 3% of us have bodies which resemble the archetypal "perfect" model body. So what the heck, i wear a swimsuit, the brightest, gaudiest one I can find (which isn't always easy for larger sizes) and if anyone doesn't like it, it's their problem not mine.I enjoy swmming far more than I worry about the way i look.
I love a private swim spot where I can immerse in nature to my heart's content! I hope you will come to realise, that should you seek company of other swimmers they will welcome you with open arms and will want to hang out with you because, like them, you're into swimming and won't care what you look like or wear x
Sometimes it can be better to focus on the moment and what you're doing, that way other people fade into the background. Try not to let other people spoil your moment. Wear what makes you comfortable to get in the water 🏊😃
Agree with everything you say. I have had a poor view of my body(shame) and it has stopped me from doing things in my life. I have been cold water swimming since last May and I have grown to love my body and I do not care about what people are thinking or seeing.

Rachel, I think this is my all time favorite video of yours💙💙💙
Thank you
Hey Cami thanks for letting me know.
I'm so pleased to hear that the water is helping to heal you. Enjoy your time in the water
How lovely to hear from you Andrew with such hound words. Thank you. I’m thrilled to hear that you’re in the water regularly and enjoying it! 🏊♀️😀
Hi Rachel,I enjoyed ur video when u swam with a dr.talking about sea swimming.it was very informative.
What an inspirational comment Christine! I'm thrilled you're enjoying the water and that it has helped you. Just brilliant! 🏊😀
Excellent video as always. I've enjoyed every single one of your videos so far. Thank you so much xx
Thank you Rosana, I’m pleased to hear that you enjoyed it. Happy New Year! 🏊♀️😀
I love watching your channel, you inspire me enormously to give things a try. I'm so grateful to have discovered you. Thank you 😊
Hi Paula, welcome along. Lovely to hear you’re thinking of trying things out. Hope you have fun doing so 😀
I'm a 58 y.o. lady with a few extra pounds. 🙂
Hi Bernadine, thanks for dropping me a line, it was lovely to hear from you and hear that you are enjoying the water x
Thank you for this encouraging video! I personally didn't have issues with showing my body, but with the cold.
The cold cn be difficult to tolerate and enjoy at times..
Rachel, thanks for another great video. You treated a very difficult subject with respect, God bless from the States.
Thanks for watching Mark! What a lovely comment, thank you x
Great Sharing! Lot of love and respect from a solo mountain hiker from Chitral Pakistan.
Thank you, I've just checked out your channel and subscribed. What magnificent scenery! Hi from a solo swimmer in the UK!
Keep on getting in 🏊😃
What a lovely video. Thank you.
You are so kind. I'm glad you enjoyed it 🏊😃
Hi Rachel, just watched this great video, I am one of the feel the fear but do it anyway people.
Hi Jackie, I think you'll really enjoy the freedom and warmth of the gloves and booties 🏊😃
I just went for my first open water swim with a friend. You are my hero! Your video's allready tought me a lot.
Love this video, I think you are a great rolemodel.
Greetz from the Netherlands 💦
That is awesome! Well done Marion! I'm so chuffed you got in, and thank you for your lovely comment!
Thank you so much for this, Rachel. That was so encouraging and helpful 🥰
I hope you are enjoying the water in any way that suits you 🏊♀️😀
Thank you Rachel for your really great videos. Thank you!
Wow Kerry! This is fantastic news, I'm so pleased that one of my videos spurred you on. I hope you have the next swim planned x
I LOVE LOVE this video
Thank you, if it nudges one person to get involved, I'd be over the moon 🏊😀
Great video! Thanks for talking about this. I definitely have felt low confidence, but I have tried to not let it stop me from doing anything. It is a great conversation to have though. Life is too short to worry about what people think :)
You're so right, and that is a great phrase! Life is too short to worry what people think. Just about to watch your video of your first group walk in months..
Just do it guys! I’m over weight and not exactly body confident. I did however feel rather self conscious for a young lady wearing a thong on the beach last week! 🙈 just glad my husband and 3 boys were not with me!
Great that we can all wear whatever we want and still get in. I hope the kids got in too! 🏊😃
LOVE this video. So encouraging as always Rachel
Thank you so much! I'm pleased people are enjoying it 🏊😃
Hi Rachael I agree with all what you say about body Image.
Thanks for watching Bryan. Great to hear that you're happy in the water, it's so freeing, isn't it?
@@EverydayAthleteRach Thanks Rach for your lovely and supporting answer...
very helpful thoughts. Something I have always struggled with. Feel the cold intently and have acute sensory issues; often watch a local group in the river who are encouraging me to get in, even if I need a thick wetsuit, earplugs, noseclip etc to do so. Havent done it yet as I'd look daft, but maybe one day!
Glad it was helpful! Don't worry about how you'll look, you'll be surrounded by friendly and encouraging faces. Give it a go when you're ready
Xx
That's brilliant to hear, outdoor swimming is for everyone, no matter what they want to wear 🏊😀
I hope one person watches the video and feels there's something there for them to try and give it a go 🏊😃
Bioprene.... nature’s wetsuit!!
Yup!
Great advice x
Thank you
Ps lovely setting!
Thanks, it's my second closest swim spot to home!
@@EverydayAthleteRach lucky lady!
Got so much to catch up on with your videos but I want to tell you as it seems relevant here - I think you look fab model like in your cossies but all the same that's not why I watch your videos I promise lol - I'm so glad you feel focused on yourself though rather than what people think as you've no need to let body confidence be an issue for you :) even if you weren't physically attractive (which you are) you are a fab attractive person and a gem for YT and the outdoor swimming community :)
Myself I adore the feeling of being barefoot but I get embarrassed to show them unless I've had a pedi and even then...
So I like that you can wear booties in the water but all the same I prefer to be barefoot in the water to feel the connection with nature so what a dilemma eh :D I'm working on not giving a * * * * about my many imperfections though and making progress :)
Hope you are well Rach :)
@@EverydayAthleteRach that made me chuckle and so true! You too Rach :)
Great video, just wondering if you ever suffer from lower back pain by swimming with your head up? If you have tips to help that would be great
Hi Alice, I don't swim any seerious distance head-up, if I do, it's almost certainly a drift downstream.
Lovely positive video, people dont worry just get in and have a dip, youll feel great , subsribed Thank you - Don,i love it x😘
Thanks for the sub! Glad you’re enjoying the content.
Rachel you are so lovely, I’m sure your will really help.

Absolutely right. I like to find swimsuits with bright patterns too, I figure that they’d be the safest! Keep on swimming! 🏊♀️😀
At my age if somebody is disgusted by looking at my body it is their problem not mine. IDGAF!
Absolutely, but for some people, initially this can be what holds them back, sadly.
Im a little fat so i can sometimes be scared to go for a swim.this is why i try find good private swim spots.
I love a private swim spot where I can immerse in nature to my heart's content! I hope you will come to realise, that should you seek company of other swimmers they will welcome you with open arms and will want to hang out with you because, like them, you're into swimming and won't care what you look like or wear x
I went swimming in a pare of tracksuit pants and a tee and ppl still made fun of that
Sometimes it can be better to focus on the moment and what you're doing, that way other people fade into the background. Try not to let other people spoil your moment. Wear what makes you comfortable to get in the water 🏊😃
Rachel, well done
Thanks Richard
