I really want you to watch Tim during the time chen graduated and he got another rookie who was a vet like him. It shows how great of a TO he actually is.
I am excited to get to those episodes soon! We have more episodes filmed and coming out soon!
Hi guys! I hope you enjoy the episodes, just a little bit, before you pull them apart! ;) Scottish Kiwi from NZ, and I liked your breakdowns, What did you think of the Cop Cutie intros? 'Cos I laughed like a loon. Seriously, I couldn't stop for over 5 minutes.
#Chenford clips are the best
@@byteme5072 Hi from NZ aswell
Absolutely loved Bradford during season 1 😂 man was the best TO throughout the show. What made it more real was that Tims character was former military so you could see that emphasis within the show
They definitely made it more interesting!
Fun fact: during a episode dealing with a racist cop, the stop Tim and Lucy made is brought up again and tim realizes that he was actually racist during that. He also promises Lucy to never to something like that again
It always a good practice to self evaluate and ensure you're not allowing personal bias to dictate decision, especially in law enforcement.
But she never reported him and he never faced consequences, so it's empty. He only started being "nice" to her when they started dating.
@@virz4432that’s not true, I believe. I think, after Lucy is out of her Rookie phase, he has respect for her, even though they annoy each other on purpose.
@@virz4432False
@@mercedesvalente8154 Ok, true...
But that doesn't change they did wrong.
Tim was wrong and Lucy covered him.
Lucy should've reported Tim back then.
("Test" what? To be complicit? Shady)
As a former FTO and retired sergeant, I can hear it now, "He's picking on me......"
🤣🤣🤣🤣 yep
My dad was a policeman in London. Whenever there was a film or tv show with a car chase all you ever heard was ‘that road doesn’t lead there.,
🤣🤣🤣🤣 he would know lol
Thoroughly enjoyed this! you find out later that Tim was the way he was with Lucy specifically because she was kind and saw nothing but the good in people and he needed to show her that the world can be a scary place. Every test she passed and failed truly made her a better cop!
I’ve gone back and watched the older reactions as well.
Would love to see more from The Rookie and Chenford!
It's definitely on the list now!
Justifying abuse ✅️🙄🤦♀️
@@OnlyCops he does get a different rookie later, who he approaches with a completely different style.
@@virz4432abuse is a VERY strong word
@@virz4432If ypu become a cop, you need to get ready because there will be abuse. And that isnt even abuse what he does.
Yeah, some of the "Tim Tests" are pretty egregious, but a lot of them are fantastic. This was when the series was grounded in a bit more realism. Hollywood has really taken over the series in the newest seasons.
Agreed !
Facts...but I definitely still love it❤️
Yeah, but it's still really good. But I also still hope they return to the realism a little bit more in season 6.
(I dunno if they're doing a season 6, 5 isn't available in my country yet, but don't tell me if they do or not, please!)
@@FluffyJackie they are, it releases in 3 days in the U.S
@@shadowzzzz8733 Cool
Favorite Tim Tests are with Barnes. You see a way different side of Bradford, when he's dealing with a fellow combat vet turned officer.
I am looking forward to those episodes 😁
MINE TOO!
The scene at 4:31 was actually addressed in later seasons.
She basically told him that it was racist of him to act that way and he agreed, although it shouldn’t have happened in the first place. It doesn’t even suit his character.
It was a test and she passed it.
Honestly I just assumed they were in on it like tim's friends or something
@@jestbone89it was a test AND it was racist. two hints can be true at once
They definitely hadn't quite found his character yet at that point.
I loved getting all these real life insights and reaction! A good one I recommend of the rookie is season 3 episode 11, in this ep there are new rookies and Tim takes a different approach than being a tough FTO but a caring one to his new boot.
Thank you for the kind words and suggestions 😁
This would be a great follow up to this reaction
The reason they don’t have mics and pull the entire radio out is because LAPD doesn’t use mics. It’s part of their tradition as well as cost. Same as only allowing clean shaven or mustaches, constantly shining their leather gear and no tac vests.
Tradition can be dumb sometimes but I can't argue with the authentic. They do have great uniforms and always look professional
They wear vests underneath
This was so fun! I’d love to see all the Chenford reactions 😂❤
We will add it to the list! Is there a good compilation of their best moments?
@@OnlyCopsthere’s a 20 min video of their whole story that’s pretty good. But the married couple one is a good one to watch as well
Love watching The Rookie reactions!
If you're looking for suggestions, there is a recent episode (Season 5, Ep. 11, I believe), specifically the plot line that involves Lucy Chen. In it, she meets a young woman, whom she suspects is being abused by her boyfriend at home. The plot line is woven through the whole episode and culminates in Lucy having to respond to a domestic violence call involving said woman and boyfriend. Lucy is riding alone at this point and handles the arrest (which gets very intense ).
Anyway, I would LOVE to see you guys break down the episode. I'm curious to hear how realistic of a scenario The Rookie set up considering the type of call, the fact that she is riding alone (and all the procedures that would be involved in that), and ultimately the outcome...
:)
Thanks for the suggestion and feedback! This makes filtering for content WAY quicker 😊 please always feel free to drop suggestions!
“When she reached for her belt I was like NOOooOooOO! What is she going?” - I died. 🤣🤣🤣
🤣
I loved hearing your reactions. Honestly the first season was one of my favorites. It was more policing then drama/soap opera. I enjoy the relationships on the show, but I really loved the effort that was put into making the show more realistic. Now that's out the window. They've gone Hollywood. I've excepted it because I've grown to love the characters. I'm invested. However if they went back to everyday regular policing with the occasional big issue at the end of the season, that would be preferred. That being said I am a big shipper of Chenford. My favorite character is Tim. That guy has been through some sh*t! He's completely different now in season 5 then in that first season. Night and day. Best character development on the show.
The show jumped the shark when they killed off Jackson and started doing black ops stuff in Guatemala.
Another police show that started out great and fairly accurate was Southland. Would love to see these guys comment on that show as well.
It was NEVER "realistic" at all. 🙄🤦♀️
They all end up that way, seal team is the same way
@@shandera22never seen this but I need to start it at least
This episode should have finished with the clip of Tim losing his Radio.
🤣 that scene is pretty hilarious
The whole belt thing happend to a rookie of another unit of mine. He did not hang the belt on the toilet. No! He unholstered the gun and put it on the toilet cistern while taking a dump. He then forgot it there... It was a truck stop. Gun including 15 rounds gone with the wind.
His last day on the force.
Holy shit..... yeah that would have been my last day too 🤣 that is unforgivable unfortunately
So glad you did this video. I love The rookie and always wondered how real the Tim tests were ! amazing video, thank you !
Thank you for the support,we have a lot of other stuff on the channel and in the making 😊
Can't wait to see more Chenford video from you guys.
There have definitely been a lot of requests for it lol
Pls do more this was quite entertaining and it’s always useful to know how accurate these shows actually are
Will do 😁
Don't just stand there Uvalde style.
Dude, that was HILARIOUS
When I was in the military, we had 12 hour shifts. If you nodded off, you would get pranked hard. One guy was duct taped to his rolling chair outside in the snow. One guy had not put his keys in his locker but tossed them in his cover (aka cap/hat) and when he nodded off, they let him sleep, filled his cover with water, put it in the break room freezer. When they woke him for shift change, he couldn't go home because he had to find a way to free/thaw out his keys without cooking them (electronic tab). Can't say the guy never nodded off again but he never forgot to look up his keys, cell, or other personal objects again.
🤣🤣🤣 that's hilarious and evil all at the same time! It's better to get embarrassed than sleeping through something that needed your attention and someone gets hurt because of your absence.
lol these stories are great, "retired" Aussie Cop here and love this show, very relatable.. and now subbed to this Channel - thanks Gents.
Thank you for your service brother 😁 welcome to the channel!

I love this! It's cool to see how accurate the Tim tests are😊
We love your support 😊
I’m so glad I found your guys’ channel. This is awesome!
I'm glad you found us too!
Great breakdown of certain scenes. As far as the question as to PC for search on the pedestrian stop that ended in a fight, in California officers do not need PC during the stop or encounter to search when the subject is on parole. It’s strange to other jurisdictions that require PC or a least reasonable suspicion for all encounters, California does it their own way.
That is definitely par for the course for California. I don't like the idea of Terry stops and think that it undermines public trust. I'd rather do it the right way even if it's harder.
the van thing was foullllll when she made the arrest he was casually leaning on it with his leg up like a 90s movie cool kid XD
🤣🤣🤣🤣 agreed
I was a Paramedic with a pretty populous Hispanic part of town. Probably 90% of my patients supposedly couldn’t speak English. What they meant was, they literally couldn’t speak it but they could understand it.
That was about half of my beat 🤣
Would love to see you react to other episodes of the Rookie: 1x08 (Officer involved shooting) and 5×22 (Pretty action packed and far-fetched)
It'd also be cool to see a reaction of Blue Bloods. An episode I can think of would be 8×22. Specifically where Eddie saves Jamie.
We will add it to the list! Thank you so much for the feedback 😁

That was interesting!! Thanks. And the last bit with the Chenford explanation was really funny.
I have more Rookie-related questions: Is something like the "Golden Ticket" really a thing? And: Do they do a good job depicting undercover work?
Thank you so much for the feedback!
The "Golden Ticket" is definitely not a thing (at least where I come from). Promotions or transfers are always done through an evaluation process and often times have prerequisites and references.
I didn't personally do any undercover work but there are both good and bad examples in the show. It's definitely more organized then the show would lead you to believe and there is almost no overlap with undercover officers and other units. It also takes more than some dirt and bad clothes to look like a drug addict 🤣
Oh, this is gonna be good.
Just found you guys... AMAZING
Thank you so much for the feedback and support 😊
My father, who is a retired cop from New York, told me the first db he went to was when the senior cop handed him a cigar. He took up cigar smoking that day and has been smoking ever since. Anything to cover the smell. He’s now ninety, and still smokes two or three every day.
That's an expensive habit 🤣 more to him though, anything to cover up the smell!
Tim is one of my favorite characters in that show. His rookie Lucy actually has a big effect on him throughout the show, he becomes a big softie lol
He is definitely a really dynamic character on the show 😁
"Do I look like a big softie?"
im not a cop and i have no interest in becoming a cop but yet i love watching yall😭🙌🏾
I appreciate the support!
I was in Fresno CA during 2020 and our governor told all the police to enforce the masking and social distancing, etc. Some administrator gave the instructions on essentially a zoom call with all the sheriff departments. Our sheriff explained that CA's new zero bail policy meant her officers were too busy re-arresting the same criminals over and over to bother with such policing and gave him a list of state officers he actually had authority over (Fish and Wildlife, Beach patrols, Forest Management, etc.) It was so badass.
I love your videos. You guys are relatable and funny.. 👮🇱🇷🚔
Thank you so much for the support!
More chenford for sure 👍
🤣 it's on the list
I loved the tim meets dim
he was under probation in the third test, if I remember right they were doing an intentional search for a reason besides just the revenge test
Loved that show, loved seeing your views on it. In the second scenario I think the guy she was fighting was actually another cop Tim knew or an ex-cop or something.
Thanks for the support! That would make a bit more sense 😅
We heart CHENFORD
Thanks for the interesting video. My best wishes to you. Creative success, good luck and, as is customary in my country, boring shifts! /Sorry for Google translation)))
the time you gain awake from caffeine offsets the lower lifespan so your good in that department XD
I am definitely going to die at 50 then 😅
I'd love to see a reaction to Chicago P.D., another fantastic TV Cop Drama
We will add it to the list!
I hate when this police shows are about the LAPD and the Cruisers doesn't have the actual LAPD light bars
Funny 😂. I love this movie & respect to all the good cops❤. Really a scarry job❤.
Thank you for the kind comments. We appreciate them 😊
the nice thing about my job is most of the time if i'm tired i can just sleep on the clock
🤣🤣🤣 I had at least one FTO do this to me lol
I think we are all waiting for an Adam 12 reaction
Agreed!
it's alos worth mentioning, that (iirc), the guy they searched was a CI of bradfords.
That makes WAY more sense
I've never hallucinated, but I've fallen asleep at work, and you do get some odd dreams. Ironically I would be great at midnight shift - my clock is pretty much upside down. I usually don't get to sleep until 4 or 5 am.
There are definitely some people who do much better on that schedule that others 😊
I would love to see you watch a full episode so you can see all the context
We will see about doing so, it would just dramatically slow down our production process. If we can and still produce enough content we would love to!
I didn't know there was remediation I thought if you mess up in during FTO you are basically booted.
99% of the time yes, but there are some instances where remediation can be an option depending on what the issue was
I'd love one
I worked 20+ years on midnight/third shift. A large part of that in a stop-n-rob, caffeine was my friend. I once ate a small bag of chocolate covered expresso beans. I mostly lived a vampire's life sleeping in the daytime.
I have been out for over 2 years now and I still struggle to go to sleep before 2 or 3am
@@OnlyCops I hesitate to recommend it (due to legality in your state??) but an edible could help greatly. Be sure to start with a 1/2 the first time. Sleeping pills are a problem because between the side effects and the addiction potential they are a bad choice, at least for me. Getting old helps too.
The funniest part about the "park Fail" test, is they callback to this later and call it a bad stop.
🤣
Problem with the bomb test one. What if a random person off the street accidentally set it off had an allergic reaction from what ever the powder is and died.
That's what I'm saying!
During the Ghost Head body search, the suspect in question was a known drug dealer out on parole and in the state of California (more specifically in LA) they can do random searches on said individuals and their property without warrants and or warning. Basically make it so that if at any given time when they conduct such searches and they find anything that can be in breach of their parole they have to arrest them
If it's a condition of their parole I could see this still being lawful, but I still think it's crummy. If they can be trusted to walk about in the public, they should have their rights restored.
Analyzing Tim Bradford behaviour I recommend to go through season 3 episode 11 episode. That is when new rookies arrive at the scene and Tim start teaching new rookie absolutely in a different way. In my opinion that makes him great FTO, because he adapt his training technikes.
He's my favorite character in the whole show and definitely think of the clips I've seen
Based on the story @2:24, if you were on Cooper, that's really funny. lol

I made my Rookie get out and figure it out, but I made him run. He came and said what ever the street name was and then I said what block number. 😂 he got out on his own and ran back to the street sign. He got back again and I said what house did we stop in front of. 🤦🏻♂️ when I was a rookie I did the entire shifts constantly saying what street I was on in my head. I just wish I was police in the town I grew up in.
I had to say it out loud in the car the whole time I was driving on shift. I would call out direction of travel and and street. It would have been much easier if I policed where I grew up 😅
My lord i remember my first time wearing duty belt with keepers, i got advice to just drob the pants with the belt, but i forgot i had the mic on (Wasnt used to it yet) and i ripped my epaulette off when the pants went down. Oof
Oh noooooo
I wasn’t working but I saw what looked to be an IED (thankfully it was fake. Supposed to be a training device) called it in. Watched the first guy on scene put his face inches away from the device. I was surprised someone who used to be my supervisor made a stupid decision like that.
Cops are often under equipped/trained to deal with anything that's not a traffic stop or domestic unfortunately.
I went into houses, with interns, where people actually lived and the interns would gag from their living conditions or we went to a small travel trailer for an illness, the patient supposedly had not been outside in 4 months. Fire Department was already there and between them and the patient it was pretty much full so I sent the intern in and my partner and I waited by our rig. As we watched, there seemed to be a lot of movement through the window. We couldn’t figure out what was going on then it dawned on us, it was the gross amount of flys buzzing around. The intern as pretty green when he came out.
EMS definitely gets the grimy side of emergency response as much as anyone else does. Not to mention the amount of bullshit calls y'all get sent to 😅
In case no one told you guys, they address that racist Tim test in a later season and Tim apologizes for using that tactic. He never does another racist one again
From what I've seen from the show since filming I actually really like Tim's character arc and think the Rookie is actually a pretty entertaining show minus a couple of scenes 😁 thanks for all the comments 😊
New to the channel, how long have y’all been cops?
We were cops from 2017 to 2021

That was me and the wife that got bored one day 🤣 it's a sliding door we used to block the window behind us there. We could have definitely mounted it better
Not a cop, but i worked retail sales with about a billion and 1 small little camera gear items and sold 89 different cameras models, and id take all the price tags off everything and the first day training would be pricing the department. Its mean but they could find everything after that easily, and could figure out what products they need learn about.
24:57 to be fair she got even 😂
She's a pretty awesome character and is definitely inspired by some great women in law enforcement.
When i worked security and i had to use bathroom that was public id hang my belt off the toilet paper dispenser and keep a hand on it and i wasn't carrying any legit weapons. Except that stupid little mag lite thats only useful if you chuck it at someone ehen theyre coming at you with a knife.
For the officer taking no action, he ends up reassigned to another station. Officer west finds out, and he with gray show the body cam from the fight as a training material at the station the officer was reassigned to

I'm an auxiliary police officer with the Walker County Sheriff's Office (Texas not Alabama) and the belt thing is real. I heard a story about a friend who lost his belt in the locker room at the YMCA. We pulled in for a missing persons call and while we were checking the locker room, my partner said he was going to wipe tomato sauce off from his waistband (We had pasta and meatballs for lunch) So that dumbass pulled his whole belt off and started to wipe. I looked in one of the showers, and my partner started yelling. We caught the guy at the exit, but he was ridiculed by my coworkers and repremanded by my sergant.
That is definitely a bad day at the office 🤣 poor dude
19:16 ive had garlic mayo poured in my ear. surprisingly hard to get the smell and the oil out.

Watching The Rookie I am curious about what is Hollywood and what is accurate in thigs that really happen during real police work. Much appreicated
I appreciate it 🥰
This was not the "Tim Tests" I was expecting. There's a channel that had a series of "Tim Test" skits of Tim Drake identifying superhero secret identities based on the fact that in the comics he was able to deduce Batman's secret identity.
That is incredible 🤣 well now I need to look up the series you mentioned lol I hope we weren't too much of a dissapointment for you 😅

That first Tim Test wAS ABSOLUTE SHYTE. I've lived in the same city for 35 years, and I still get lost, because I don't know the street name, but I kinda still know the street. I never walk like" I'm entering Cameron Road Second Avenue....I'm entering Cameron Road Third ave...Yea, what a life. F*ck that sh*t. I'd rather be a criminal, according to the antiquated laws.
If Tim had just been shot, administer pressure, and call in your gps on your shop. Quicker and easier than trying to figure your location. Also, with gps, fire and ambulance just need a Maps update, and then Nolan sees Bailey again! Yay! Or is it Bayley? John SHOULD know!
I do think it's was a BS test but orientation is a huge part of being a police officer. Response time for resources can be critical for the person who needs them and being able to to not only give accurate directions, but also some Intel on how best to get to your location can be the difference between help getting there on time or not. It's an unfair thing to expect them to experts right out of academy, but it should be something they work towards as they continue in their career.
The thing is she gets him back playfully for almost every single one of these. Even the powder bomb. And then he falls in love with her.
I look forward to see that play itself out 🤣

Legally you can't, you'd be surprised how often actual probable cause gets thrown out and charges dropped
@@OnlyCops understood but if the point is to jam someone up then... ?
The last 3 seasons, i was quite salty on thoes. Too much dating and the policework truly got more in the BS side, way too over the top was season 6 but also the hospital crisis in season 4
