    All of Cyprus belongs to the Cypriot people and is called the Republic of Cyprus. The occupied north of the island is still the Republic of Cyprus except to the occupiers that call it TRNC, and it is only recognised by them .

    There’s no such thing as southern Nicosia or southern cyprus. There is no such thing as Greek side or Turkish side.
    It is Cyprus and Occupied Cyprus; Nicosia and Occupied Nicosia.
    Also that is no border, it is an ongoing dispute, a ceasefire line that has existed for 50 years.

    There is NOT a.." Greek or Turkish side.
    The north part of Cyprus, is occupied by Turkey since 1974
    MILITARY OCCUPATION
    On the south, is the remains of the Republic of Cyprus.
    The majority of the island population are Greeks. ( 80% )..
    Turkish Cypriots are the ( 18% )
    Try to tell the story the way it is .

      @Aaqe 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not anymore the Greek Cypriots make 80% of the population of the island. Unfortunately not any more.

    There are two different nations and countries in Cyprus with different languages, races and diferent religions. So it is not a divided country. It is an island with two countries. Like Haiti and Dominican Republic.

    • @andrewg2618
      @andrewg2618 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      incorrect. It is not 2 countries. The Northern part is not recognised by ANY country other than Turkey. The world recognises Cyprus as ONE country.

    • @terywilliam9730

      @@andrewg2618 that does not change the de-facto situation for 50 years. There are two countries on the island with two different nations.

      ,where you see the two countries here .
      The north part of Cyprus, is occupied by Turkey since 1974
      MILITARY OCCUPATION
      The majority of all those are still our stolen lands and properties
      PLEASE
      We expect from you people to RESPECT that

    • @terywilliam9730
      @terywilliam9730 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Κώστας-τ9μ you wanted to occupy Cyprus on 15 July 1974 by declaring it a hellenic republic as the first step to enosis and began to kill all the Turks on the island, then Turkey came as a guarantor and libarated the Turks of the island from a full genocide. There is nothing to be respected about Greeks. You are not different from the Serbians in the Bosnian war.

    What ?
    Who are you ..?..
    Brow,
    Since you are on the island , at least learn few things.
    On the island, for the last 50 years, we have a Turkey's OCCUPATION at the north part of the island.
    The south part, is the FREE side of the Cyprus Republic.
    Turkey,
    Invaded, and since 1974, is half almost occupies the island.
    Kicked out the local population, been replaced them till on our days,mainly by Turks,settlers from its mainland.
    Ignoring of all of the UN resolutions about peace and justice for the island, is even trying today to turn of those occupied areas, as a separate recognise Turkish state.
    All this situation, is very similar of what is happening today against Ukraine, by the Russians.
    Will you go visit Crimea, in a few years, and ignoring the facts, ..you gonna support the Russians OCCUPIERS ?
    I'm asking you now .?

    • @Ingigogo
      @Ingigogo  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey mate! I am not sure what spurred this comment because not once did I say I supported Turkey or anyone. I was very clear in both my video and subsequent comments that I was a short term tourist and as such it's the local's opinions that count. My 10 days in Cyprus certainly weren't enough to unravel what sounds like 50 years of frustration and hurt from both sides.
      It sounds like you are a Cypriot though - so what I want to say to you is that your country is beautiful, the people I met there were so friendly, and I really hope I can visit again one day! :)

      @@Ingigogo your report was fair, but the only point I'd correct is that the break away state that has been declared by the Turkish occupied north is only recognised by Turkey (actually a puppet regime). You stated that the Republic of Cyprus doesn't recognise it, giving the impression that all other countries might be...

    First thing you have to learn before anything else,there is no border,its a ceasefire line.Try and understand the island was invaded by one of the countries that guaranteed its freedom and sovereignty,Turkey.Always study a place before you visi it,you might learn something.

    • @Aaqe
      @Aaqe 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Unfortunately the Greeks "invited" the Turks to invade with their internal disputes. The stupid Greeks (I am one of them) got what they asked for. Turkey of course exploited the situation and caused a tragedy for the island that will live for ever. Let us hope that it does not get worse.
