Don't get me wrong, ultimately I do love this bike ! but along with anything that you Love, there comes some challenges....LOL I hope someone can develop some modifications to resolve a couple concerns... ! Haha...there's my Rant for 2022 !
I feel your pain brother. Paid cash for a 2021 PAS in June 2021. In 10-months had to go to the dealer 7-times, net 26-days out of service. In May 2022, traded in the 2021 and got a 2022 PAS. On day two of ownership, 248-miles, 7 trouble codes came up and had to take it back to the dealer. Culprit was a bad battery. Like you, I just cannot trust the bike on a long desolate ride into the wilderness. I love riding the bike but am extremely disappointed to have had (and continue to have) problems with the bike. I have a 2003 Deuce with nearly 80,000 miles on it and nary a problem with it.
I am currently on a trip up to the Dempster highway....3400 kms in and closest dealership is a 2 day ride away (and getting further) So far so good but today error codes started come once every 1/2 hour going to to a mid-trip review soon
Good Question ?? I just had appointment yesterday and they couldn't, or wouldn't tell me what the codes were. i asked and the tech didn't put on the notes. Did an ECM update and sent me on my way. It did ride good yesterday but I wish I new what they were. I did let them know that I was disappointed not to know what those codes were and what triggered them thanks for watching ??
The water in the airbox seems pretty serious. Was there ever any update or correction that prevents that? And the sliding rear rack... I'll buy a different brand but I would just love to know what the issue is there. Why do I want my rear rack to have lateral adjustment? I just want it to be centered, naturally.
The air filter location, electrical connection, and lines are very similar on my Super Tenere. We remove two forward bolts and loosen one aft bolt, pivot the tank up, and tie it to the rear rack to hold it up. So it's almost off, but you don't need to find a place for it on a table or a safe space on the floor... Moving the tank to expose the airbox takes a minute or two. I haven't bought the Pan America yet. It looks like you may not have the option to pivot and tie the tank up, but full removal should be similar. Maybe you need to adjust the procedure.
I tried to pivot tank and doesn’t work the way they designed it. Fuel line has to come right out before tank can even start to wiggle. I actually sold the bike now. For me, too many issues after owning for a year and after taking the bike to the Arctic ocean on the dempster hwy. We couldn’t trust the bike and I took a chase truck with trailer on that trip because of the trust level. I completed that bucket list trip, but not quite as planned.
The rack slider system is not new. The system was on my 2013 Triumph Trophy, designed to mount the top box on and reduce destabilizing forces caused by the top box during cornering - got to do with physics/science. With water build-up in the bottom of the air box, perhaps drilling a few small drain holes could resolve the issue.
Toobad you found some issues the hartdway. I just returned from 7000 miles from Sacramento to Tail of The Dragon and back with extra days touring back country of utah and Colorado. My 2022 performed excellent, but no trip of this distance is without trials and tribulations . Thus far she has a few issues but what motorcycle doesn’t in their first release. Best of luck with yours
Thanks ! Glad to hear you're having great times ! I am currently on a 6 month road trip with the Pan Am...so far running just great ! In a few weeks from now, I have a review udate coming out from a special place....
Thanks for an honest opinion. Most you tube channels only hit the positives of the bike. The electronics on the PA are pretty miserable and most have issues. Yet, you don’t hear of them on you tube.
That’s awesome ! I’m glad to hear you got a good one !!! When I rode the Pan America to the Arctic Ocean on the Dempster Hwy last year, I met 2 GSA’s that both blew out the fork seals and the Pan Am was excellent for that. They both had to ride back almost 1200 kms to get to a place to order parts to repair. On that trip I had several electrical issues but was still able to ride out by just clearing the codes. As with all bikes, sometimes you get a great one and sometimes a lemon. Cheers and ride safe Thanks for watching
Could you carefully drill a small weep hole where the water accumulates under the tank? Yeah, I took the tank off once and it was such a pain in the a$$ I have avoided doing it again for any reason
Thanks for your comment....I do hesitate to drill a hole as it would be an entry point for dust then....Trying to get Harley to come bac with a fix Cheers !
Hey guys I've just had an experience and thought I might share to help someone who is considering buying a Harley. I recently bought a Pan American at Barnes Harley. I have had nothing but problems with the bike. From the starter clutch dying, to the screen randomly turning off, to error codes non stop, to the bike leaving me stranded. When I approached Barnes Harley to see if they could help their proposed solution was to get rid of the bike at a loss. It is not their problem they don't make the bike just sell them. Ergo too bad you got stuck with a lemon. Then they pretended that they've never heard of these issues. Meanwhile, I took it to another dealer and was told that these issues are quite common, and some fixes are available but they won't just do a recall you have to prove that the problem exists. After owning a few Harleys this is not what I would expect being a long time customer and all. So please if you are considering buying a Harley Davidson, specifically a Pan America DON'T! Read the forums regarding these issues and google them you will see they are very common and NEVER deal with a dealership like Barnes who not only won't try to assist but flat out tells you too bad now you're stuck with our crap. If anyone wants to see the texts and the issues I have videos and pictures of everything. Learn from my misfortune and feel free to contact me for proof. Don't buy Harley and never deal with Barnes dealers. I know there are some die hard Harley fans heck I was one of them but this is the help I got so far and sadly you'll never know how a company will treat it's loyal customer but just make sure you know what you're getting into. Your hard earned money should be giving you headaches and definitely should piss you off. Just my 2 cents.
I'm in a similar situation with my Pan America although I've had it for a year and a half, it's let me down a few times where I've had to take another vehicle on trips. It's an ADV bike that I can't take to remote areas because it might not start. I think Harley is in a pickle with these bikes, they aren't moving off the showroom floors so the MOCO isn't interested in making anything right with them. Thats my take.
@@pinkiewerewolf they get sold then they go right back because people are unloading then even at a loss. Just sad how Harley is just shrugging the issue off.
@@t-dawgl8338 I wondered about the 975 Sportster as well. It’s funny, some of the sales people at my dealership write off the Pan Am issues as it being too tall. Most ADV bikes are tall is what I tell them. Mine doesn’t have the ARH, but sometimes it lowers. 😂 Early next year mine will probably be moving on. Like he mentions in the video, the bike is a hoot to ride, when it runs.
So sorry to hear so many are having issues with the PA. Aside from a lower rad hose not properly seated I have had zero issues with my 2022 PAS. Currently has 11,000 miles I put on it. I know that a gentlemen whose You Tube channel is "Florida Jim" had no real issues until 47,000 miles then nothing but electrical issues. Currently his bike is at his dealership. Dont know the status as he hasnt broadcast anything. Its a shame because the PA is an awesome machine but it must be a reliable machine to be a success. Harley Davidson I sure hope that you are busy working out these issues that can and will kill what could be your future in the industry.
Thanks for watching and leaving your comment I did really enjoy that bike, was a ton of fun but I guess I got a lemon because was in the shop every month. It seams like you either get a real good one or a lemon. So glad to hear that you got a good one !! It is so much fun to ride Enjoy !!!
I love mi PA1250S I just did my break-in trip 6000mi (9500 kms or so) all the way from Durango mexico to Daytona Fl up to NC, Tenn, Virginia rode the rockys and such and all the way back and the bike runs great under water, Heat, Cold and every wheater Condition you can imagine, I just watched your video and I can tell you this, this Bike is made the real deal and for a 1st Edition Bike is off the Charts int my Humble Opinion.
Glad to hear about your trip. I leave for Alaska in a couple months (9000 miles round trip) and am a little nervous about going on a first year release.
1. Air filter - the air box is under the gas tank (must remove tank) and design allows water to enter. 2. Amount of electronics - error codes. 3. Mounting system for HD soft panniers and mounting bracket for rear paniers
Yes, thats my top disappointments....but there are many things I do like about this bike. overall I still like it. Big test is coming next month....heading out on a long trip up North
I only put 2k miles on mine before winter storage which is close to your 3900KM. Since it's in storage at the dealership I'm not sure about wheat the airbox looks like. I will ask them to take a look. Would be very upsetting to have to take water out of it every time i ride in the rain, go through a puddle, or small stream crossing. Have you had all software updates done to it? I'm curious if that is part of the problem. I have some longer rides planned this summer and my confidence is starting to wain a little about the bike especially as it heats up. The bike runs hot as it is hate to see what it is going to be like when the air temp is over 90F. I switched from the sport bags to the soft bags and bought a large 40L Tusk duffel for the back. Wonder if that is going to work for me. Was not planning on putting the tail bag hardware on it. Anything else that has disappointed you in regards to the bike?
Thanks for watching ! Ultimately the air cleaner access is the worst design, you saw how rusted bine was in 4000 kms A couple other small things, but they are just little annoyances like - lack of charging ports for phones, cameras, etc. Cup holders dont work with the handle bar and wind screen design like I said just small thing My #1 and #2 issues is really what shakes my confidence in going long distance remotely I went through several rain storms, but a design for air inlet shouldn't collect water in my opinion, especially on an adventure bike
@@SHHHMotoTravels I wonder if a rain cover for the air intake would help, something similar to what is used on the big vtwins.? There is a usb c outlet on the side of the screen. I know it charges my Pixel.
@@JayShermanFJC I looked at the air inlet tube and the routing of it would not allow access for a rain mess, like on screamin eagle vtwin filters. I'll see what dealership offers for a fix when i get in But thanks ! Yes, I am using that one for charging, but the other two are under the seat and its those round pegs for heated suits
Ya, I ordered the soft ones in July 2021 and they came in Dec.2021 Hindsight is always 20/20...but if I had to do it again, I think I would order the Lone Rider semi-rigid bags. There are mounting adapters now. Thanks for watching !
Fair points all-pigtail extensions for tank wiring would make maintenance a lot easier, maybe somebody will make some. My hope is that the large Harley and ADV aftermarket comes up with solutions to many of the problems Pan Americas have.
Excellent points. It is as you say..an absolute must to trust your bike in the far off remote places. I cannot imagine not having complete confidence and knowing you will be able to get parts delivered to some remote place if needed. Your points are exactly why I held of trading to the Pan.
ya Well you never know till you try....for me having short legs, the adaptive ride height is so awesome !! i do still love the bike, just some points to get over here
You got a good point, Thanks for pointing that out.... but I do wonder since the engine runs so hot, would the humidity affect the engine since when it evaporates only place to go is in the engine ???
Disclaimer- I am a HD owner of four 1/2 decades. Thru all this time HD prices vs quality has been a disappointment to many owners including me. I commented when the PAm was first rolled out I'll wait until actual PAm buyers like you comment after about 10-15k km of Adv miles. The glowing reviews of those who rode one on an HD/PR/Marketing weekend junkets are suspect to me. I am not optimistic sorry to say and I'll keep riding my BMW for long hauls since I only ride solo I need reliability. My next bike will be a Honda. Nice review thanks.
thanks for your comment !! i tried all of them when looking last year...the tipping point for me to buy this one was the Adaptive ride hieght, as I have vertically challenged legs....That part of the bike works great. I am disappointed about those couple items...it makes me not confident to take a long trip Thanks for watching and for your comment
Thanks for watching !! I do love mine, but been in the shop 5 times now in 6 months for code problems with sensors....hope they get it all straighten out soon !!!
The water in the airbox is a worry, is there any kind of pre-filter available? This may or may not help in your situation but if put some grease in the head of the screw then put it on the torx bit it may help it stay put. Surprised about the genuine luggage, Harley are usually good with their accessories. New subscriber!
Thats a great idea for the torx screw !! I will try that We are trying a new filter that is flat on bottom, hopefully that helps !! Ya, me too about the bags...thats why I bought sight unseen, have had good history in the past with Harley, but this one disappointed me i must say, over all I still do love the bike, just need to work through first gen issues. I knew there would be some when I bought this first gen bike
Really good review and thoughts about Pan America. No wonder why HD assembly factory here in York Pennsylvania plant shutdown for 2 weeks. Maybe there's a lot of reason. I loved HD and brand itself but they have to step-up with there game. Now I'm having hesitation to get one Pan America or I might get the GS instead.
My ‘21 PAS has had 4 software updates, replaced the exhaust because of the heat shield broke. One bolt from my side stand was half way unscrewed with no thread locker on it. Fob and bike not connected…….. I have no confidence in remote areas of North Idaho that I will make it home. I say class action lawsuits are needed, this is my 6 th Harley and LAST
I hear ya. I took mine to my he Arctic Ocean on the Dempster highway last year. Wouldn’t do it alone, had my wife follow with a chase vehicle and trailer. Sold the bike when we got back. Been a Harley guy for a long time, next bike will be something else. I did a post ride review also. Thanks for watching.
I test rode the pan america yesterday. It has good power but the quality of the bike is suspect. The kickstand is a joke. Leans over to far and the pad is to small. The grab rails are plastic and will break if the bike goes down. Lot of heat from the engine
Yes, I agree...engine runs very hot . biggest issue is comfort to rider. I never did over heat the bike on the trip and with adjustable ride height, kickstand angle changes even after parked.
The air filter location alone is a deal breaker for me.Also, totally agree with you on the ridiculous amount of electronics on these bikes, and if that’s a problem already,it can only become more problematic over time.$$$$.
Ya...too bad I was hoping it would be a little more simple. like some cars, so much tech these days - afraid to look under the hood ! Thanks for watching and leaving the comment !
I've had a Pan Am Special without the ARH since they came out. I won't be keeping it. A bike that I can't rely to start in remote areas isn't a bike I can trust. The electrical issues are huge with this bike. I told the dealership that if Harley would rip all of this crap off the bike it would be amazing. I'm gonna get a T-7 or Husky 701.
Those seem to be common complaints - not very adventure smart. My Victory has its air filter under the tank too, and to make it nearly a dealer service to deal with air filter on the road. Doesn't seem very adventure-y.
@@Crittermoto - LOL Good one...I actually looked at the African Tin, always loved Hondas...my 1st two bikes were Hondas....but my Vertically Challenged legs made me lien towards the Harley because of the adaptive ride height system......that actually really works great on the bike... Cant beat Honda dependability
I know what you mean....I am currently on a trip, we are 4000 kms north of Vancouver. Closest Harley dealer is about 1300 kms from here So far so good ! I am going to do a "mid-trip" review here soon
Im yet to experience the air filter problem, however last week with 200klm on the bike ( new bike ) the radiator hose melted through. I love the bike but the engineering fails from Harley Davidson is appalling. This is not a bike to use on long trips or for adventure purposes as the reliability and engineering cant be trusted.
Don’t blame you about the soft bags. They kind of look like rolled up inner tubes. I think that an adventure bike should have less electronics that can fail on a trip.
Totally fair assessment my friend!!!! Your number 1 issue is totally unacceptable. Water should never make it in there! And the service time to change an air filter… 2+ hours???? Great video, love the bike, love the idea Harley is growing in different directions, but in ovation hasn’t been their strong point! Great content, you are the right guy to present a grievance my friend. Thanks for the hard work! P.
Thanks for your comment ! I think they didn't have any construability reviews during engineering development for maintenance of a ADV bike Hope they get some work arounds happening soon !
Sorry to hear about those things mate. Not every bike is perfect, but these things are also important, therefore your comments, and decision to publicise them are also important. ✌️
Great review mate, pretty disappointing, the location of that air filter is ridiculous for an off road bike, hopefully they get it sorted on the new models when they come out, you should tag Harley Davidson head office in on this video or send them a copy
@@SHHHMotoTravels I don’t think you’ll be black balled for trying to help, engineers need to be shown real world problems so they can be fixed, if they don’t like that then they should be looking for another job
@@TheHarleyRoadshow Youre right !! My last job before I retired, I was a constructability review leader in an engineering house for project design i think Harley forgot to hire anyone for that role
I had a feeling harley has a long way to create adventure bike. Love my Honda Africa Twin, If I had to upgrade now only two adventure Bikes I would consider is Again Honda Africa Twin or BMW R1250 GSA, I know You are Harley enthusiast but I would give them a 2 or 3 years before jumping on new design, also a tip always search for aftermarket luggage Option usually there is so much more better choices. I don't have a single Honda accessory on my Africa Twin, everything is searched and reviewed aftermarket products. I think the only Adventure bike that would have great OEM accessories is BMW even do I think it is all made by touratech under BMW logo. I hope you get these problems looked after by Harley it is pretty sad.
Thanks I tried the Honda and BMW...tough on a "vertically challenged" person...hahaha i also looked at Lone Rider bags last summer but at that time they had no mounting hardware for the semi rigid line. I hear they do have adapters now for mounting thanks i hope they have some fixes
So sorry to hear about the issues you have with the bike. Unfortunately these things happen on a first gen bike. Really hope they fix those issues for you. And to make the next gen version better! Maybe you will have to trade it in and get something else. There are lots of adventures bikes out there. Maybe start doing some test ride videos of different makes and models. Who knows…maybe you will find a better bike for your coming tour.
Thanks for your comment Ya, I knew the chance taken on a 1st gen....i did try several before choosing, the scales tipped here with the adaptive ride height on the Harley, with my vertically challenged legs, this bike is the easiest for me to ride we'll see what the shop can do for some of these.... All good, small problems when you look at the big picture
All your content is usually happy go lucky, I can't even imagine you mad ahah I test rode the 2021 Pan America last year and I really enjoyed it, however I didn't have to live with it. Electrical sensor issues? Welcome to my life ahah Hmm it doesn't sound like the bike has been built well for off-roading, to be honest I was surprised when Harley made an off-road bike in the first place. Looks a lovely park, very peaceful, it was a nice place to go after a rant. Great vid mate, stay safe.
Yes, most others can be improved and ultimately small annoyances in the big picture, but water in the air box I dont like, especially on an ADV bike Thanks for watching !
BC is the California of Canada. I grew up there, but would never move back. Sounds like that adventure bike isn't very adventure orientated...lol. If I were to do the adventure thing, I think I'd just mod up a dirt bike. Much cheaper, and dirt bikes are built to ...well....be in dirt. hahahaha !!! I hope you're enjoying it nonetheless. :) :)
That is really disappointing news about the air box. It shouldn't be that difficult to design the location in a better spot. For the $ Harleys asking for the bike that shouldn't even be an issue.
I'm not a fan of being disappointed. There's a lot more I don't like about it. I won't buy 1. That water in the air box is really bad. How much is getting into the engine? High heat plus water on anything metal that water corrodes... I think that is a major design flaw.
I have owned my pan america for a while now and have had some electronics issues also. Infact today im going to pick up from the 2 recalls for a reflash and the seat rail. I really enjoy the bike. But agree there is room for improvement. I didnt want the hard bags cause i wanted to do some off roading but i got to see harleys and thought they look too much like glad trash bags. Im currently waiting on the restock of mosko moto woodland panniers. I would probably put a small 1.5mm hole in airbox to drain that area in the airbox.
Hey ! Thanks for your comment... I am going to look into those bags you mentioned. I recently came back from dealer with those recalls also and another ECM update Cheers Thanks for watching !!
well i just finished a 400 mile trip last weekend after the ecm update. no issues then i drove to work and two bcm codes popped up. these darn phantom electrical issues can be extremely aggravating

I seriously looked at the African twin when buying....tipping point for me was the ride height. i have short legs and that adaptive ride height is an awesome innovation But I agree, Honda dependability cant be beat thanks for your comment !
Nice man, while those things are a bit disappointing and head scratching, at least they aint enough to make you hate the bike altogether (unless that video is coming soon hahaha)
thanks Brett !! I still love the bike.....but you know what love is like, haha, can be challenging at times !!! I just need to get confident before we leave on this long road trip in 2022
That's a really bad design on Harleys part on the air filter Craig, Sorry to hear about that brother, Harley need's to definitely know about that problem, Enjoyed the video brother💯👊🏽😎
thanks for your feedback and point of view ! Really appreciate the feedback i will forward my concern through my dealership once i get it in to get those codes looked at
Thanks for watching g !! And leaving the comment…. It came down to the GS or the PA when I bought the bike and the tipping point, or reason why I bought the PA was the Adaptive Ride height suspension. I have very short legs and that was a game changer. That part of the bike was awesome and worked great. If the GS had that option, the GS would have been a slam dunk.
@@SHHHMotoTravels smart decision! I'm in the process of selling mine, its hard as the resale value sucks on these things, and the general riding public has caught on as to what turds they end up becoming.
You forgot to mention the voltage regulator is going to get caked up with mud and dirt and also the radiator with the no fender to protect it. Terrible design.
Agreed I have been looking into some sort of " mudflap"...haha Red/ Green fix, just use duct tape to keep it there !! LOL Thanks for watching and leaving the comment !!
That’s extremely disappointing about the breather. What a ridiculous, ridiculous, design! You have to be able to maintain your breather and you can’t have water getting into it. That could spell disaster at some point. Come on Harley! Been building motorcycles long? Those are kind of important issues on a motorcycle!
You’re definitely right Craig but I am sure they will address those issues for the next year model. I spent 1/2 of my career working for cars and truck manufacturers and experienced fist hand the reality of launching brand new models. (Based on that, I don’t recommend buying a new model until it reaches the 3rd year of production as 99% of the design flaws and recall issues will become addressed) Thanks for sharing it as it will help others. Cheers buddy!

hahaha ... the Rebel Alliance !
The water in the airbox seems pretty serious. Was there ever any update or correction that prevents that?
And the sliding rear rack... I'll buy a different brand but I would just love to know what the issue is there. Why do I want my rear rack to have lateral adjustment? I just want it to be centered, naturally.
No Harley gave me no fix.
I sent them a video of that before though the dealer and they never got back to me.
Hanks for watching and for the comments

Cheers and ride safe
Thanks for watching
Excellent information. Thank You.
Thanks for watching !
Could you carefully drill a small weep hole where the water accumulates under the tank?
Yeah, I took the tank off once and it was such a pain in the a$$ I have avoided doing it again for any reason
Thanks for your comment....I do hesitate to drill a hole as it would be an entry point for dust then....Trying to get Harley to come bac with a fix
Cheers !
@@SHHHMotoTravels I didn't think of that although the the weep hole only needs to be a mm or two. Glad you pointed out the problem though
@@t-dawgl8338 I agree. It’ll be interesting to see where they take the 975 Pan Am.
@@pinkiewerewolf a dealer told me that they are having even more issues with them than the 1250.
Early next year mine will probably be moving on.
Thanks for watching and leaving your comment
I did really enjoy that bike, was a ton of fun but I guess I got a lemon because was in the shop every month.
It seams like you either get a real good one or a lemon.
So glad to hear that you got a good one !!
It is so much fun to ride
Enjoy !!!
Thats awesome !!!
I am very glad to hear that one works great for you !!!
My Honda NC750X has a air filter that is hard to get at. Lots of plastic to remove. Adventure bikes should have easy to check/change air filters.
I agree with your statement here 100%
Thanks for watching and leaving the comment !!
Thanks i don’t know that with the Air Filter. But I have another Problem,my Motor lost Öl😢. I give it to my dealer.
Alex ( Germany)
On man. That really is not good.
Hope it all works out for you.
Ya that intake and routing is terrible. I love the bike but waiting for an update.
I sure hope they come up with a mod for the air intake !!!
Lousy design to trap water in the air box
Ultimately the air cleaner access is the worst design, you saw how rusted bine was in 4000 kms
A couple other small things, but they are just little annoyances like - lack of charging ports for phones, cameras, etc.
Cup holders dont work with the handle bar and wind screen design
like I said just small thing
My #1 and #2 issues is really what shakes my confidence in going long distance remotely
I went through several rain storms, but a design for air inlet shouldn't collect water in my opinion, especially on an adventure bike
I'll see what dealership offers for a fix when i get in
But thanks !
Yes, I am using that one for charging, but the other two are under the seat and its those round pegs for heated suits
I ordered the hard luggage back in July. Still waiting...
Ya, I ordered the soft ones in July 2021 and they came in Dec.2021
Hindsight is always 20/20...but if I had to do it again, I think I would order the Lone Rider semi-rigid bags.
Yes, the pigtail would be a great idea !!
i never thought of that
thanks for watching and for the comment
Excellent points. It is as you say..an absolute must to trust your bike in the far off remote places. I cannot imagine not having complete confidence and knowing you will be able to get parts delivered to some remote place if needed. Your points are exactly why I held of trading to the Pan.
ya
Well you never know till you try....for me having short legs, the adaptive ride height is so awesome !!
i do still love the bike, just some points to get over here
The design shows that water will not get into the engine until the air tank is filled to the top. I don't see any reason to worry so much.
I am disappointed about those couple items...it makes me not confident to take a long trip
Thanks for watching and for your comment
I’ve had a couple codes, and the radiator hose wasn’t installed correctly. Other than that, I love mine. The air filter design is moronic.
I will try that
We are trying a new filter that is flat on bottom, hopefully that helps !!
Ya, me too about the bags...thats why I bought sight unseen, have had good history in the past with Harley, but this one disappointed me
i must say, over all I still do love the bike, just need to work through first gen issues.

2021 Special
I never did over heat the bike on the trip
and with adjustable ride height, kickstand angle changes even after parked.
I agree. If they could make the same bike without all the tech it would be awesome
Thx for watching.
@@Peter-nm1ps Harley took care of me. They paid me 18k for the 20k that I spent 1 1/2 years and 11,000 miles earlier.
Those seem to be common complaints - not very adventure smart.
My Victory has its air filter under the tank too, and to make it nearly a dealer service to deal with air filter on the road.
Doesn't seem very adventure-y.

So far so good !
You are right on those points. Maybe 5-6 years down the road ….
Thanks for the comment.
Wow that number one is a killer for me. Definitely scratching it off my list now
1st gen bikes always have issues, but these ones kinda surprised me.
HD might have been better off to keep testing another year before off to market
that airbox design need to be redone with a foam outer filter
Yes, as log as it drops water out and doesnt restrict air flow....Yes !
Don’t blame you about the soft bags. They kind of look like rolled up inner tubes. I think that an adventure bike should have less electronics that can fail on a trip.
YES, I agree with you there...for sure
Well those certainly are disappointments. Great review video!
Thanks !!

Hope Harley get the kinks for you !! Have a great weekend.
Thanks....haha, me too !

Thanks for the hard work!

haha...I dont want to be blackballed by Harley !! hahaha
@@SHHHMotoTravels I don’t think you’ll be black balled for trying to help, engineers need to be shown real world problems so they can be fixed, if they don’t like that then they should be looking for another job
@@TheHarleyRoadshow Youre right !!

i think Harley forgot to hire anyone for that role
Did you see the review from BackDraft Bikes? Scary!
No, I will search for it...
Thanks
I tried the Honda and BMW...tough on a "vertically challenged" person...hahaha
i also looked at Lone Rider bags last summer but at that time they had no mounting hardware for the semi rigid line. I hear they do have adapters now for mounting

i hope they have some fixes
So sorry to hear about the issues you have with the bike. Unfortunately these things happen on a first gen bike. Really hope they fix those issues for you. And to make the next gen version better! Who knows…maybe you will find a better bike for your coming tour.

Wow, I'm shocked about number 1. The other 2 to me are liveable but number one could be a deal breaker
Yes, most others can be improved and ultimately small annoyances in the big picture, but water in the air box I dont like, especially on an ADV bike
Thanks for watching !
Thats a great point !!
However, I do love that adaptive ride height they have on the Pan Am...awesome for us "vertically challenged" people !!!
That is really disappointing news about the air box. It shouldn't be that difficult to design the location in a better spot. For the $ Harleys asking for the bike that shouldn't even be an issue.
I agree !
Thanks for watching !
thank you for these truths.
I'm not a fan of being disappointed. There's a lot more I don't like about it. I won't buy 1. That water in the air box is really bad. How much is getting into the engine? High heat plus water on anything metal that water corrodes... I think that is a major design flaw.
I AGREE 110 % (or more !)
Was so disappointed when I opened it up and saw that.
