I always hear that the church never taught about JS's polygamy, and only acknowledged it recently. This is not the whole story. I taught seminary when I was a senior in High School in 1974-1975. The seminary teacher was lazy and had me use my off period to study the teacher's manual to then teach seminary in his place. One lesson in the official seminary teacher's manual taught about JS's actual implementation of polygamy due to the angel with the flaming sword telling him he had to. It taught that JS had actual plural wives. What surprises me about this is that it was openly taught, then later was covered up. And now they say that particular lesson never existed.
Unless my memory fails me, the B of M was changed to "pure and delightsome" not "fair and delightsome." I would refresh my memory, but AI sometimes censors my controversial questions, or hopefully it is just having technical issues.

Church Leaders have taught that The definition of the Law of Chastity previously as “The Lord’s law of chastity is abstinence from sexual relations outside of lawful marriage and fidelity within marriage. Sexual relations are proper only between a man and a woman who are legally and lawfully wedded as husband and wife. Adultery, fornication, homosexual or lesbian relations, and every other unholy, unnatural, or impure practice are sinful. Members who violate the Lord’s law of chastity or who influence others to do so are subject to Church discipline.” The Church today has redefined the Law of Chastity as “Abstinence from sexual relations outside of a legal marriage between a man and a woman. Fidelity within marriage.”
