      Also done Fairfield Horseshoe and couple of other hard rides. The bike seems flawless for my requirements and a lot lighter than carrying a full suss bike up these big hills

      Hi had a few people asking where they can get a hold of a Scout. Maybe you could update on the stock situation. Local dealer says probably nothing till September?

    Great ride, views and review. Just got my Scout 275 lastweek. Thoroughly made up with it. Going to need to bring it up there. Those views. That peaceful tranquility. Amazing, thank you.

    Hi. I think the Scout is about 1 Kg heavier than the Chisel however much of that could be due to the wider more substantial tyres. I have a Stumpjumper with Sram GX and Shimano XT. The SLX brakes are about the same as the XT and the SLX is a little better than the Sram GX. I dont know about the Chisel but the dropper post on my Scout is much better than on the Stumpjumper. Chisel has all Specialized bearings which in my experience dont last long in UK conditions particularly the BB which I replaced 3 times prior to changing it for a Hope BB. The Scout has DT Swiss hubs which I think will wear substantially better then the Specialized. The Scout is a bit heavier and a little more expensive however I think it will give you better long-term value and rider experience that the Chisel, also its 140mm of suspension vs only 100mm for the Chisel hence should be significantly better downhill. Hope this helps.

    Keith, great review. I'm eying one up a Scout 290 now. What does the bike weigh in at and how do you like the Shimano's? I'm going back and forth between the Scout and Specialized Chisel Expert with the Sram setup.

    Sorry I have given out some duff information. I just weighed the bike and with the pedals and a good helping of tubeless sealant its 13.7 Kg

    Amazing view and review of the bike! I am considering this and have also looked at norco fluid. Just wondering if you know if 2.6" tires will fit the frame?

      @@keithbirch9190 thanks! I am familiar with a hardtail with 67,5 head tube angel. This is a bit slacker with 65. I can understand that this is helpful going downhill. Would you say this bike still climbs well and feels ok on gravel with higher speed aswell?

    Any issues with pedal strikes? This bike has been on my radar for a while but the -70mm BB drop has me thinking twice

      Have not noticed any difference vs my Stumpjumper FSR 650B

    • @ElectricDreams10

      Keith Birch I guess the question then is..any issues with pedal strikes on your Stumpjumper?

    • @keithbirch9190
      @keithbirch9190  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually I have now noticed that there are a few more strikes using the Scout but they are more rider error than a problem with the bike. Overall the rollover ability of the 29s and the stability due to the lower BB still works for me. Still very happy with the purchase.

      Maybe Nukeproof will comment direct but my understanding from the local dealer is that most models are now out of stock until at least September. That seems true of most quality bikes at the moment

      @keithbirch9190  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rychartz Your comment made me go and fetch the scales. Your correct its 13.7 Kg including pedals. Maybe they will do a carbon version for 2021. That would be perfect.

    • @rychartz
      @rychartz 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Your carbon bars saves about 150 grams, so, a tad over 13, without pedals, is still not bad for this type of bike. Thanks for your feedback.
