    I had the same thing on three out of 25 large podocarpus I planted along the outside of one side of my FL pool enclosure. They have full sun per the nursery instructions, nutrients added into the soil, drip lines monitored, but within 2 months, I lost a full vertical shoot from each of three plants (so far). Once the browning starts the shoots quickly died in days. The cut-offs are bone dry inside, like your examples. Bummer!

    Thats the confusion too much or too little water.

      You have to stick your fingers into the dirt at the base by the roots. If it’s dry and the dirt is dusty, you do not have enough water. Too much water is hard to do unless you’re just drowning it every day with no sunlight!
