This is one of my top 5 Ren songs. Thank you for the amazing reaction. I'm already subbed, but if I could, I'd sub a second time just on the basis of this reaction. The conversation about idolizing all the wrong things, the discussion about art and architecture, the closing points on diversity of thought - just brilliant. One of the drawing points to Ren's music for me is that it isn't like anything else out there and there's a real thirst for that even if people aren't consciously aware of it. There are no straight lines in his music, you never know where the journey is taking you, but the music flows like nature flows which I think speaks to the humanity in us - the humanity that is suppressed by all those straight lines.
Your reaction + Ren's song really had my mind reeling with thoughts. When you mentioned being willing to accept diversity of thought as well as ethnic and racial diversity, etc. (paraphrased)--that's one of the things about Ren that really caught my attention. In several interviews, TH-cam community posts, and during the intermission to his 360-degree video version of the Tale of Jenny and Screech, he talked about getting away from our division mindset (especially political parties, liberal vs. conservative) and learning to actually listen to the other side, conversing with them, pooling together ideas that are pragmatic as opposed to part of a political agenda, in order to solve world problems. He and his friend Jake even designed Ren's online treasure hunt game with that in mind, with all of the players needing to discuss the clues and puzzles in various online chat rooms in order to advance through the game. I used to be very active and attached to a particular US political party--and also to a religious denomination. I prided myself in being unbiased (forgetting that pride is one of the seven sins, lol). Then I realized that the filters of my ideologies caused me to paint people on "the other side" in dark colors instead of seeing them for who they really are, regular human beings like me. I also grew wary and weary of the division, the constant fighting and insults, so I decided to step out of all that as much as possible. There will be a 13th seat on a plane for Ren". You are so right. Ren chose to release his Sick Boi Album on Friday the 13th of Oct. This is what Ren wrote about that in a post on his Community page: "Im a big fan of symbolism, particularly when its hidden in plain sight. Today is Friday the 13th - it is the day my album Sick Boi was released, its noted in superstition for being unulcky, its also been exactly 13 years since my symptoms and journey with health problems started, its also the lyric in the very first track of the album, Seven Sins - 'Lucky number 13 - just my luck'".
And it turned into a very lucky Friday the 13th release date, culminating in a #1 spot on the UK album chart! The whole Rick Astley race made it even more classic! 😹 Ren continues to flip the script, even on unlucky number 13

ren wrote and produced this track and the album a year ago allmost ,he finnished a few tracks about 5 mnths ago ,due to treatments and videos thats why he released the album when he could,he had a music contract with sony years ago before getting ill,had to stop due to lyme dease not picked up by doctors for 10years or more

This is one of my favorites as well! It’s such a great opening track to the album. I especially like that he added the Welsh intro 🏴 It initially was just going to be an album intro and not a full track, but he got inspired. That’s when magic happens. The lyricism and beat are incredible. I agree that the hardships have turned him into an artist that will continue to have a profound impact on people and the industry. His faith and relationship with God have certainly been tested, but I don’t believe the heavens dismissed him. I would love for you to do the full Ren journey!!! It’s filled with so many gems and surprises. His talent is undeniable.

100% on Lenon’s “Imagine” The only thing worse was having it forced on me during lockdown when a bunch of celebs in their mansions sang it to say “we’re all in this together.” That’s the moment Imagine breathed its last.
This was the last track that Ren wrote for Sick Boi and, along with MG3 , it was written in 2023 while STILL going through treatment. Yes, it reflects back to one of lowest points when he had to move back home because he was unable to care for himself- when his mother found him on the kitchen floor , clawing at the laminate , and it’s when, as a result of the combination of such intense chronic pain and any number of meds , he fell into a psychotic state. BUT, Verse 4 is in present tense. His lyrics “ 13 years , I’ve been feeling so stuck “, “ 33 and hurting cursing Jesus died at 33 ( for our sins) and still my sins are lurking …future stays uncertain “.
Ren is decribing the day he fell into psychosis. Yet another treatment he was hopeful for, failed and he had an allergic reaction to it, full of pain and bitterness he slipoed into 3 months of psychosis. He felt God killed himself by not helping him.
Yet again impressed. We find fulfillment more in loss than gain, because it’s a reduction of dilution that we wrap around to isolate from void that lays within. Never a day I don’t end up laughing with tears. It’s the proximity that undoes me
