Imma say this. I came for Ren, but I’m staying for you two. Subbed! Your reactions are genuine, smart and funny, and the editing is dope af 🔥 Great job guys, keep it up!
Ren has that effect on people. Millions of people feel the human connection with Ren's music. It's intense and emotional and we totally understand because we all have experienced it.
As I always say to new to Rens storytelling genius! Welcome to the RENaissance! But in y'alls case... if that was the original viewing... I'm certain it hit ya harder than most! Y'all say ya Rap... but just make sure ya five the Man his due!!! You've Barely touched on his lyrical genious!!! From singing, to musically playing the feels, to Rapping his "Truely" heartfelt and LIVED lyrics.... Again.. you've barely touched his catalog! Do Not try to fake your way thru his reactions... we aint stupid! Not trying to be xo confeitational... just saying the RENegades are Not your typical fans! Most have experienced his words! And we'll know! I'm Digging what I've seen so far... just a fair Warning, his Fans, rhe RENegades of the RENiassance Will know the difference!!!! Highly suggest some of his older works, ro get a true background of his journey!!! Crutch, Ready for You, Crucify your Culture, Pentinence, Patience, Ocean, Humble, etc... Enjoy... but don't overdo it!
Definitely want to hear your final thoughts! There are a few Ren songs that hit like this, for different reasons. But there's also a flip side to Ren, where he can be lighthearted, funny, upbeat and uplifting (Losing It, Love Music 1-4, What You Want (homage to Beastie Boys), Humble, Loco, Power). There's a Ren for every season and every mood. Thanks for this great reaction. Your tears at the end got me teary-eyed as well. 😢
The Tales are hard to watch - but so important. My mother lived a less horrific version of Violet's life. I lived Jenny's childhood. But instead of meeting a Stevie, i got lucky and met my future husband when i was 17. We have been married almost 40 years now, and have 5 grown children & 3 little grandsons. I was determined to break the cycle of poverty, addiction & violence and feel so very fortunate that with my husband's help and support, i succeeded
Wow, what an inspiring story we are so happy that things worked out for you and that you met an amazing man! Thank you for tuning in and we appreciate you
Just some info.. Ren came up with the original tale of "Jenny" after reading an article in a news paper about the murder of a prostitute in London by a young lad, someone commented in the article "It's such a shame", which is why it is so prominent in the song. Violet died in 2005, the tale of "Jenny" was released in 2019, which is why Screech and Jenny are 14 years old n the song. Jenny was 14 years old and walking the streets of London in high heels indicating she was a "working" girl ("she'd walked these streets 1000 times before"). Screech got his nickname from being "quick on his feet", "screech" being the sound trainers make as you dodge and run on an indoor training court. "The blade that could slice concrete" was actual a line in a tv advertisement in the 80's/90's IRC on late night shopping channels. When Screech tries to meet up with his girlfriend and she tells him she's busy, she was busy (cough cough) being with Patrick (Ren confirmed this) The tales are a generational story of abuse and the victims of abuse, Jenny much like her mother kept quiet and accepted her fate in silence and resignation, Screech was reactionary and quick to anger just like his father. What many people fail to understand is that Screech although the "obvious" bad guy in the tales, he was only 14, he had been brought up in foster care or an orphanage, he was obviously not being given the help/support/discipline he needed at that age in that situation, and from the moment he fatefully turned the corner and met Jenny face to face everything he did was fear, adrenaline fueled reactions to a situation that rapidly spiralled out of his control... Suffice to say, Screech was the bad guy, but he was also a victim as well, and I think that, that is the whole point of the story Ren tries to get across "It's such a shame".
@Jillightful1 Some people went very deep into the explanation. I haven't provided more details because I'm not sure to remember all of them, but it's her father (or step father). Actually you can match the dates, when she moved out and she was pregnant for 9 months... In the comments of the videos on ren's channel you should be able to find all the details! Everybody talk about Ren, but I think we should speak about him AND Samuel. He represents a huge part of his success. Money Game part 3 is just incredible and the reaction are priceless. Btw, you can find funny mash up of reactions!
I am truly sorry with how much that affected you. It must hit very differently for you both. It might be useful to browse through the comments. You will find a number of people in there who are too familiar with this. Hi Ren and Jenny and Screech were the beginning of the Renegades, a community that is built on looking out for each other, where people can open up about their pain, and where people find ways of supporting each other while embarking on really changing their lives. There are two or three really challenging ones left in Ren's work, and a lot of deep beauty, social commentary, and glorious silliness, among all sorts of else. Glad I found you.
As a boy-girl twin myself, it’s so fun and moving to watch you two. So in sync! Twin Sense! I was really touched by your emotional reaction at the end-I really get it. I can only imagine if my brother had killed me due to us being separated early on (we also had an extremely rough upbringing, but I managed to keep us together through extreme suffering on my end). So fucking tough. I felt your tears in the way that people who are not twins would not understand. We took care of each other from the truest origin, and continue to do so in adulthood. Yes it’s recorded live, and each video is a one-take camera shot. They’re both 14, it just sounds like 40 due to the UK accent.
Best Jenny and Screech reaction ever!!!!!!!! From picking up the Warren g vibe to not missing the child abuse reference to the final emotional response. You guys are the best!
The end hits hard for me because i can't help thinking had they been raised together they could have been each others support system , not the downfall.
Yep, this is a rough one - it's about generational trauma, and Ren is such a good storyteller that we become very invested in the characters. I can only imagine how much more impactful this must be to twins. Thank you for a heartfelt reaction, looking forward to more Ren!
After this a lot if people go to Chalk Outlines with Chinchilla since it will show you Ren's singing skill and introduce you to his musical sibling. If you want rapping do The Hunger. He also makes the beat and does the beat boxing in the background.
There seemed to be a clue right at the begining that they were twins when jenny had a gut feeling something was wrong and wasnt usually scared , could be the twin connection thing , without her even knowing .
That was a fantastic reaction to this trilogy. I wonder sometimes if Jenny had that uneasy feeling about her because she was sensing her twin and he had bad energy with him. Also, this is a tragic song of generational trauma. Screech turned out like his dad and Jenny turned out like her mom.
I've seen quite a few reactions to this trilogy. This one is really insightful. The proof is in your reaction to the last minute or so. And you're right - this trilogy can be (and has been) the jumping off point for so much discussion, exploration, and (if people allow it) healing. I'm a little older - I remember Rod Serling and Alfred Hitchcock fondly, and always thought of them as storytelling masters who know how to bring an ending you didn't see coming. At the end of this video, I immediately put Ren in this same small class. In fact, he is the next level of master storyteller with his musicality, his creativity in instruments/special effects, and his videography. Now that I think of it, even the locations where he filmed are probably more intentional than we realize. Thank you!
I think he works [or worked] the other way around. These videos were made on a veeeery small budget - Let's take Violet's Tale: he uses a children's hospital bed here because there was some mix up and they had to put it on a small pedestal to fit his size when he stands up and for the camera to work the ankle properly [that's actually why he sits with his knees drawn up in that scene - which looks so much better then what he probably initially planned ^^]. The beginning was filmed at a friends house and the street was just the street outside that friend's house. So it's not like he was looking for the perfect building to film the staircase scene in etc but that he [and Sam!] took what was there and made it fit the lyrics perfectly. But of course he puts a lot of thought into the type of place he wants that story to be set beforehand [as with Genesis etc.]. I do sometimes wonder about the graffiti on the wall though XD Maybe some of that was added on purpose but having been to London a couple of times it really might have been a coincidence as well.
@@riveredflush first, by not limiting it to a "domestic" (..."private"...) issue. Root causes & social context, cultural influences: sexism (main), religion (resigning...)
I have seen probably dozens of reactions to this, and yours was the only one that got me emotional. Your reaction to the end of Violet's Tale brought me back to when Dimebag Darrell was shot dead onstage years ago. It was devastating that my favorite metal guitarist was killed by some psycho while performing, but what really killed me was that his brother was the drummer and witnessed the whole thing from a few feet away. I have a slightly younger brother, and I broke down for months every time I thought about that situation. Much love to you guys. You are, after only two reactions, quickly becoming one of my favorite reaction channels when it comes to Ren. I'll add that I've been into metal pretty much my whole life, but after seeing Hi Ren this time last year, I'm obsessed. This guy's talent and ability to pour his soul out knows no bounds. Truly a generational talent and someone the world needs to hear and embrace. I look forward to seeing your reactions to his art. You'll be mesmerized, cry, laugh, bop and everything in between.
Same here my friend, same here. Dimebag's death was a massive blow to the metal world and resonated not just with the band and other bands - but also the worldwide fanbase. You'll know about the song "In This River" by BLS then? Artists like Ren only come along once in a lifetime imo, and, when they do - you need to sit up and pay attention.
@@BenBallard13 Do any of you have an explanation for the incredibly emotional reactions that a lot of us feel? I'm aware of the obvious ones but Ren seems to evoke something beyond the norm. Talent alone doesn't really cover the almost visceral reaction I have to certain of his songs. Or I'm overthinking. Lol . 🤔😆💜😃💜
Ren is Welsh. Everything is rehearsed. This was a live take, one shot. It was numerous takes to get the right one. I dont know if there is a behind the scenes. When you think of this type of music I think of Bards from medieval times that would go around and sing stories with instruments.
Art is supposed to make is feel. Ren does that to us all. Sometimes uncomfortable, and such stories are very real to too many people. Tears are strength. Proud of you
“He’s painting a picture with his Words” describes it quite well. It’s not just the words, it’s that emotional connection he gets while telling you a story, his voice, the guitar, the performance, everything. Ren always get’s a tear out of me
Hiya fellas, as Jenny was walking home she felt something was wrong, that was the twin conection but she had never felt it before not knowing that she had a twin ✌❤🐦.
I don't know if you are aware lads, but Ren's recent album, Sick Boi, debuted at No 1 in the UK album charts, having never even played a single concert. He is amazing and so, so loved. He saved my life in a weird way. One love from Scotland. 💙
ooooohhhhh im so EXCITED!!! i havent started my video yet, i paused right at the beginning to express how JACKED i am to see you guys watch this. YAY!!!! another trip down the rabbit hole of Ren with two new RENegades!!! we will protect you from the fall, OH WAIT, there is no fall, its just all UP UP UP with ren!... will comment after i watch :D im at 7:20 and i call LIES!!! you two do not look old enough to have been teachers heheh, im learning cool things about you guys as well. im just giddy right now! ok bk to watching :) at 21:30 and ill say one thing, Ren can find your emotional string, and he doesnt just pull on it, he YANKS it right out of the fabric and shows it to you . ok... everytime i see this, i cry, even knowing the ending. thank you for being real and showing yours. its an emotional rollercoaster and will stick with you! love you guys.. i recommend Sick Boi if you want to understand a little more about him and his battle with the medical industry :)
Best and most honest reaction I've ever seen to the tales. Rens music is supposed to be hard to listen to sometimes. He talks about stuff most of us out to the back of our minds. You two are great. Maybe sick BOI or genesis for your next one ❤❤❤
I believe the camera falling over was another of the brilliant collaborations between Samuel the videographer and Ren, which you will see often in their videos.
Guys, your reaction was really something special. Thank you for posting such a vulnerable moment. I love how you’re not afraid to show your emotions. I think it’s the most incredible quality a man can have. Finding Ren has been helping me get through a really tough time in my life and for the first time I’m finding myself. Welcome to the Rabbit Hole 🐇 🕳️ We’d love a follow-up video. Your Ren reactions are one of the best I’ve seen so far 😘
Right?!?! The very last sentence had me throwing down the headphones and I said " Shut Up!!!!! I'm done." Wow he is my favorite!!!! I respect, love admire, adore and everything this artist!!! What can't he do??? Unbelievable story telling.
he does the rewind with guitar at first of Voilet tale to show that went back in time to tell what happened then does it again to bring it present where she fighting for her life
I'm glad i caught up with your tails reaction. I must have watched a hundred reactors do the tragedy trilogy. This one is up in the top 3. You join a rare club of reactors who managed to pick up on all the elements of the story's . Well done, guys. Sorry it rocked your world. When you said you're ready for this and beginning of pt 3,i immediately thought to myself your not ready, guys.!!! Great job, keep up the Ren train.❤❤👍👍👍🇬🇧🇫🇴🇬🇧🇫🇴🇬🇧
Top reaction boys. I am a 46 year old Brit and this still hits me the same way as you every time I hear it. Sad times on the streets in the UK and kids are doing this to each other on the daily. 14 is about the average age involved. At 14 the worst thing you should ever face is a school yard first fight over shit that won't even be important to you in six months time.
First of all, I would love to thank you both for an amazing reaction to such a great artist like Ren. He is the Bard of our time. I would also state that I am a twin - a fraternal twin (I am 9 minutes younger than my fraternal twin brother) and not identical twin but yet a twin with something special and this story hits harder on this impact that they were fraternal twins but even more for identical twins. I am also a physician scientist. I am well aware that both of you share the same identical genetic material as identical twins (nature). What moves me the most is watching each of your reactions throughout the song and some may find this weird, but I have even stopped at many frames to see the expression on your faces at each time of the story and compare to see how much differently each scene or time point is with each of you. There are certain times when you both are absolutely in sink but there are times where both of you have completely different facial features including eye wrinkles, lid diameter, glabellar wrinkles, mouth position folds, head tilts, eye movements, etc. expressing that there is a common but totally different experience between you both shaped from nurture (environment and experiences). This further to me supports the idea of nature versus nurture and the effects on all of us. I thank you for this such clear example to further understand human responses but more importantly, I appreciate your most humanly responses to generational violence and to such a great artist such as Ren. With respect.
Wow, guys. It’s never occurred to me how twins might react to this anthology. It just goes to show you that life is a lottery (sometimes it’s riches and sometimes it’s poverty) and to be very thankful for what you have and how you were raised.
This was another very enjoyable reaction. This trilogy is another example of Ren's genius and a master's class in storytelling; he truly is a modern-day bard. I heard it likened to a Shakespearean tragedy many times. Ren created a backstory on the characters involved on Instagram, hinting that Patrick wasn't home because he was with Screech's girlfriend when Screech called her. This is a masterpiece of a tragedy. I would also recommend you check out Ren's collaborations with Chinchilla, "Chalk Outlines," "How to Be Me," and their busking sessions in Brighton. As for "Chalk Outlines," it is one of my favorite songs right now; it is beautiful yet sad and really showcases Ren's beautiful singing voice. Looking forward to more Ren reactions from you. God bless. For those who might have missed the implication of this trilogy, here is a quick summary. Violet's tale takes place in 2005 ("two-zero-zero-five"). She was sexually abused by her father, and her mother was an alcoholic. Violet subsequently ended up in an abusive relationship with a boy named “Stevie” which resulted in her death. Jenny and Screech (James) are the twins born to Violet 14 years earlier, likely separated at birth by social services. Fourteen years later (2019, when the first two parts were released), Jenny and Screech end up face to face on that fateful night, unaware that they are twin brother and sister. Screech tries to mug Jenny and ends up, unbeknownst to him, killing his twin sister. Screech flees and goes looking for his friend Patrick unsuccessfully, he tries to call his girlfriend to seek refuge, but she says no, before confronting and getting shot by police officer Richard one street over from where Jenny lies dead. Ren provided a backstory on the characters involved on Instagram, hinting that Patrick wasn't home because he was with Screech's girlfriend when Screech called her. This is a masterpiece of a tragedy.
@@arklilbro Hello, Bob. How are you? I haven't gone anywhere. It's just that YT blocks or removes most of my posts these days. All is well at my end. Thank you for your kind words, my friend.
@@terrieb13 Hey, Terrie. I hope you are well. As I told Bob, I have been around; it's just that YT keeps blocking or removing my comments. Have a blessed day, my friend.
Try not to talk over the guitar parts. They're some of the best parts of the entire piece. Though his lyricism is off the charts. There's always more to music than lyrics alone. :) Btw, have you listened to any of his rap tracks yet? I think you'll love them. He can genuinely rap like a rap god! :) However, it's his singing that I really love! You're in for a treat there too! Add in his production skills, his world-class songwriting and the fact that he's a highly talented mult instrumentalist, all self-taught, and you really can't go wrong with Ren! :) Great reaction btw! Your enthusiasm is infectious! :)
Being a twin myself, watching you guys really moved me. I’ve seen many reactions to this, but I actually had tears in my eyes watching the end with you guys. 🩵
Yours is one of the most insightful reactions to the story telling. And you kind of knew how it might go. And you got the ending just before the reveal. A very intelligent and thoughtful reaction. Thank you guys.
This is my favorite Ren reaction EVER & I've seen hundreds. First of all u guys are freaking adorable. I loved seeing ur excitement and how emotional u were at the end. Ren definitely has a way of reaching in and pulling emotions straight out of ur soul. I can't wait to watch y'all see him rap for the first time. Got my notifications on and I'll be waiting patiently.
I knew that last part would hit you hard. What talent...what TRAGEDY....How utterly concise his story. The BARS, as I believe you call them....just poetically blow my mind. You would MISS so very much by hearing this on the radio. It's so much more than sound.
Ren's lyricism is so much fun to dig into because you don't ever really have to make up anything on your own. In so many songs he tells you directly what other songs he takes influence from - it's like leaving a quotation in a science paper. And if you are unfamiliar with rap or pop culture that can _really_ lead you down a rabbit hole. One that doesn't lead to more Ren music but to music from all over the globe in multiple genres, their origins, politics, (changing) meaning in society and so on. The first time I heard him I was a bit put off by that fact because I thought it wouldn't be necessary to spell everything out but the thing is: if he wouldn't do that I would have only seen and heard in the lyrics what I already know and this way I can really dive into it and see what _he_ is actually coming from. It's also pretty tongue in cheek because instead of fighting off people who believe that certain types of music should only be produced by certain types of people (because of that music's cultural background or political origin for example) he just straight out tells you: Hey - I'm using this. I got inspired by that sound, by that story etc. And even though my story isn't their story there are parallels in our shared human existence. It's also funny that people call him a modern day Shakespeare (he actually includes that in a few of his songs) because he does write music like early modern playwrights who didn't have to bother about copyright or plagiarism - just get inspired by plays/music from the past that people already know (and love), adapt them to modern times and twist them around until it's equally part educational and entertaining/profitable and do that in artificial verse. I haven't met another artist in the past decade who knew how to do that quite as well as Ren. Now after this block of text that probably no-one will read anyway: I would suggest reacting to "Seven Sins" next. It's the album opener for _Sick Boi_ and a very good way to start with the songs from that album which is much more rap/hip-hop based. Have a good time and thanks for taking us with you on the journey!
@@BVeronica100 we are 2 ! But my advice is to continue with his amazing storytelling skills and react to Money Game 1,2,3. If I prefer the music/rythme of the part 1 & 2, the video in the part 3 is so creative...I heard he received a prize recently about it. By the way, the work of Samuel is incredible and a huge part of his success.
What a reaction to a truly epic tale. There is fore shadowing in Jenny's Tale of that final plot twist. Ren talks about Jenny feeling scared - divine intervention telling her to beware, maybe intuition bugging her and making her so scared - the twin connection? She didn't know Screech, but she could still sense the connection maybe? Thank you for the additional insight from a twins perspective. 🙏🏻🤗
WOW! I've watched this so many times that i no longer tear up......until today. It's tough to watch but utterly brilliant at the same time...Ren should be winning tons of awards for his story telling tracks.
Great reaction, and remember it's always ok to cry and be emotional, watching Ren, you'll get used to having your emotions brought out whether you want them to be or not. May I suggest reacting to his song Suicide - BUT only after you've at least listened to "For Joe" and "How to be me" (it'll make sense in the end, trust me) and you may want to have tissues handy for that rollercoaster.
JEEEZUZ im so sorry this affected you both.. I was the same when I first heard Violets tale..but I survived with the man being sent to prison.. sending blessings to you both from the UK 🇬🇧☮️
Boys, your raw emotion is a beautiful thing. Yes, it was really heartbreaking and the tears were flowing for me too. Don't ever say sorry for showing emotions, this is what I told my son when he'd cry after watching sad movies, my 3yr old would always say I'm sorry for crying Mummy. Like my son too, It just shows us you both have beautiful hearts. I really think it was a hard one to watch for you both are twins. Your closeness and the twin spidey sense you'll have makes your bond more enhanced. Anyway boys, I wish for you and your family and friends to all be safe, well, happy and healthy, sending much love and strength from Queensland Australia 🦘❤
what a truly amazing reaction. i have watched this so many times. it is shocking & moving each time. i cannot imagine, you being twins, how the twist plot shook you. would love to watch your final thoughts. and then expand your ren rabbit whole. he is so dynamic and multi dimensional. you will really appreciate the artistry
That is the Ren way fellas, feel good sonically even though the lyrics are quite disturbing. You should check out his song “Power”. You’ll be bopping to until you make that lyrical connection. It’s a great song. Also, thanks for the Slick Rick suggestion/reference. Going to check it out
Yes, please check out children’s story by Slick Rick. It is most definitely an older song, but you were able to see the connection between the two as far as the story goes. Also, thank you so much for tuning in. We really appreciate you.
Yessss! I thought the whole time of "Regulate" by Warren G And in Jenny`s tale, when she had that strange feeling walking the street, that might have been a twin thing... Loved your reaction, thank you.
2 twins, separated at birth, for 1 to kill the other and then die by cop. Who's mother was abused all her life and her dying wish was to make sure the 2 survived while she passed. I swear man the storytelling in this trilogy is freaking amazing. Maybe it's cuz I also like Ren's music/acting (voice).... It's also cool to see if others pick up on the ending of the story as I didnt my first listen
I'm so sorry for suggesting this I didn't mean to upset you guys I didn't take in you being twins too. But as you love hop hop checkout the Hunger his flow switches are some of the best I've seen. Much love to your channel thank you for your hard work with Ren it just keeps getting better I promise.
Gosh, I feel you. The trilogy is brilliant, but I had a hard time reconciling with how it made me feel. That's Not Acting Either's reaction and interpretation of Violet's Tale finally reconciled me with the trilogy. Thank you for your honest, vulnerable and insightful reaction. There's something special about feeling alongside each other that Ren's music evokes. I can't wait to see which Ren song you're turning to next.
I understand completely I'm not sure how many times I've watched this or listened to the cd "that actually has a Lil more to the story" but it always leaves me with tears in my eye REN is a modern day bard with skills that I have never seen before loved the reaction guys don't sweat it he draws you in makes you feel everything
I have watched a lot of reactors react to this trilogy. The both of you reminded me so much of the emotions I felt the first time I listened to this. I cried too, cause it’s just so sad. I would love to hear a second video of your thoughts now that you have had some time, and I hope you continue your journey with Ren’s work because it is really amazing. ❤❤❤
I've seen this video and didn't take the fact that yall are twins until close to the end. Seeing the way it hit you, as sad as it was, was beautiful. Definitely earned the sub. I've seen countless reaction to this song and yours was truly the one that held my attention the most.
I’ve been digging my way through this Ren rabbit crater for about a year… I’ve noticed he uses nursery rhymes or children story telling references in most of his music… he seems to weave these very innocent and pure references into his music at the darkest times. For me it creates a perfect juxtaposition at the moment ( while destroying my preschool memories lol!!!). Take note of how many times you hear either the cadence or the entire use of a nursing rhyme/ children’s story… ive also noticed a pattern of certain frequently used imagery/words/phrases…RENs art is legendary for countless reasons and I feel blessed to be roaming the world at the same time as this RENegade
Glad to see that Ren is helping yall get some subs and views while at the same time you help expand his reach in the world by spreading his content. Great reaction, you 2 seem like you offer a lot to the conversation for the viewer, not just that we are here to see you laugh or cry etc. You both seem well educated and also well versed in the history of Hip Hop to be commenting about who this may sound like or what... great work and keep it up, you got my Sub and like today... I was holdin' out on yall after I saw Hi Ren that you did, but 2 solid reactions... i'm on board.
Man I knew you guys were gonna have a unique reaction to the ending but I didn't expect that. I can't imagine how intense that was for ya. You absolutely gotta dive into Ren's proper rap tunes now. I recommend all his "retakes", Sick Boi pt 1 & 2, Illest of Our Time, Crucify Your Culture, Genesis and Castle's Made of Sand if you wanna get it off Bandcamp, it's the hidden gem of his album.
I for one would definitely watch a second video where you talk about this after the dust has settled, but also would understand if you just want to move forward. Great video, and honest visceral reaction. Glad you were together for that one especially. Welcome to the renegades. Hope you take a break and hit a couple of his lighter tunes before digging in deeper again. It's well worth the rollercoaster ride.❤🎉
You two perfectly captured my reaction when I first heard this. Except I wasn't on camera, and the tears just fell. Mind blown.... Great reaction. Would love a follow up video on this one to get the wrap up, of the experience as a whole.
Yall both need a hug *hug* although I cry every time I see this, he is perfect in his delivery. The generational trauma that just repeats over and over. Violet-silent, Jenny-froze up, violets dad-abusive. Screech's dad-abusive. Screech-abusive. It's a story that happens all too often. Maybe do a happy Ren song... check out Losing It by ren (Fisher rap remix)
it's one of those once you figure it out and you know you know.. putting it all together it makes sense.. he released that in 2019.. the kids were 14, so of course Violets tale was a rewind to 2005 (two zero zero five). Such fantastic story telling!
I've always been wondering what the obsession with this is amongst Ren fans? [sorry that you got to be the person I'm asking now ^^'] It's just mentioned so often and I think it's the one completely dull and unnecessary trivia about this song/story. The important fact is that both people he could turn to are unavailable at the moment, why that is is completely irrelevant. So what if they are meeting behind his back? They are probably also 14ish and we have just learned that Screetch has "something more sinister in mind" which makes us question what he would have done to his girlfriend if she hadn't been busy [Ren actually plays this perfectly. Although he had just been knocking on his pal's door in panic for a very long time and he is still shaky pulling out his cell phone his voice is super chill when he first talks to his girlfriend like nothing had happened - that type of chill nonchalant voice you really get to fear in violent people]. Imagine: If you were 14 and you have this 14 year old friend who you are or are not yet romantically involved with but he's having extreme mood swings and acting aggressive towards you and then there is another guy who might be the same or maybe he is nicer in some way...just thinking about 14 year olds "meeting behind someone else's back" in that way is kind of ridiculous. You are usually not in a serious, committed relationship at 14 and if you are under those circumstances there is nothing about that fact that sounds healthy. But taken all that aside and coming back to the storytelling: The reason doesn't matter because Screech doesn't know. He does not have a crisis of feeling betrayed by his friend and girlfriend, he is having a crisis of being abandoned in a moment of panic and need which then stokes his "it's me - alone - against the world" attitude as he's running towards that police officer [who had no chance of knowing who he is or what he had done and probably wouldn't have looked at him twice otherwise] - it's a reaction of abandonment and fear, not anger, which makes that trivia unnecessary to me].
@@passio-735But I want to add: you're right that this isn't important for Screech at that moment and he is just full of despair and under a lot of pressure (even more when you see the additional stuff from the IG stories) in his last scene.
@passio-735 It's another example of how the entire world is against him - even his best friend and girlfriend can't be relied upon; the betrayal is doubled in that they unite against him. It matters.
@@passio-735Simple answer is to point out this trilogy is like an onion it has layers; and how Ren makes/records music while playing 4D Chess at the same time [Granted not every song, but a bunch of them] and beyond that I'm a super fan and proud of it.
@@violetlobsterI'm not sure if Screech really knows or assumes what is between his gf and Patrick, it's completely open. It makes you think so much, like Screech's end: was it just irrational behavior or a desperate suicide attempt 🤔
I likewise cried at the revelation that Jenny and Screech were twins upon first hearing this, because of the awful disregard for the sanctity and quality of life so many people / too many people experience in modern life, but I didn’t have the added layer of intensity of being a twin myself. I’m so sorry this upset you both so much, but want to thank you for still posting the video. Your reaction when the penny dropped in those closing seconds was genuinely precious rollercoaster emotional viewing. I so wish Ren could watch your reaction and hope this video will reach him some day. It’s brilliant storytelling such as this touching the darkness of human existence (sin/depravation) that puts us in touch with what it means to be human, and inspires us to choose a high way of being and looking after each other…of being better. Which has to be the highest goal of all art.
First time I’ve cried watching a reaction to this video, and I’ve watched a LOT of them; I’m so sorry it impacted you guys they way it did… but so very understandable that it would. It may be somewhere in the comments.. but Ren wrote this after seeing an article about generational abuse, and as a result - often death. The article stood out to him bc the writer, or someone they interviewed said “it’s such a shame”.. you’ll recall he said that at the end of Jenny and Screech’s videos. He’s an amazing story teller… but please check out some of his lighter stuff too; his busking duets with Sam Tomkins are great, as are him with his band The Big Push!!
SO much to take in with this brilliant Shakespearean tragedy. I get frustrated with some reactions when it's missed how he describes Jenny....why would a 14 year old be walking the same street a 1000 times, in high heel shoes? Almost no one seems to catch that. Also, for "Screech's Tale", it seems that almost no one catches that Screech's girlfriend and his friend Patrick, happen to be "busy", or not available, at the same time. Consider why. Maybe they were together? Patrick wasn't home...was he with Screech's girl at her place and that's why she was "busy"? It adds a whole other layer to the story. Also consider that Jenny and Screech were born side by side, and essentially died side by side, one street apart. Born on the same day (2005), died on the same day (2019). An entire family, mother and twins that never knew each other, wiped out by a cycle of violence. An abused mother, a 14 year old prostitute, and a 14 year old thug/murderer. There's sheer brilliance in the line "please let my baby stay alive"....at this point you don't yet know that it's twins, but "baby" followed by "stay" can also be read as "babies" because the S in "stay" isn't necessarily separate from "baby". Say it out loud- you'll understand what I mean. Such a clever way to hide the twist reveal while still giving it up at the same time...if you can catch it. Brilliant.Powerful stuff. In "Violet's Tale", the way he uses the acoustics of his environment to accentuate the song is absolute brilliance too....and btw, Ren is self taught on the guitar. Just one of many instruments he plays including drums, bass, & piano. The man is truly special. A prodigy. From what I understand, he wrote the first 2 songs after reading an article about a very young man murdering a young woman in London, he didn't write "Violet's Tale" until a few years later and that one was of his own making. He said that there are 2 songs so far that he wrote, that he knew in his gut were special. "Hi Ren" (of course) and "Violet's Tale". (He was right on both counts imo.)
Dont worry not everything he does is dark, nothing as dark as this one! 7 Sins would be a good place to go from here,or better yet Love Music part 1 though 4 not necessary to do in order but may as well
Appreciate you guys, you will get a lot of love from the Ren community (renegades) and get a lot of exposure because ren reaction videos are a category of its own.
❤
Wow, what an inspiring story we are so happy that things worked out for you and that you met an amazing man! Thank you for tuning in and we appreciate you
Love to you and your whole family. Well done :)
tf, no they aren't hard to watch XD
Lovely message right there. Thanks for sharing. ❤
When Screech tries to meet up with his girlfriend and she tells him she's busy, she was busy (cough cough) being with Patrick (Ren confirmed this)
The tales are a generational story of abuse and the victims of abuse, Jenny much like her mother kept quiet and accepted her fate in silence and resignation, Screech was reactionary and quick to anger just like his father.
Suffice to say, Screech was the bad guy, but he was also a victim as well, and I think that, that is the whole point of the story Ren tries to get across "It's such a shame".
gr8 answer!! i would add that guys didnt notice the time rewind on guitar and i think it importatnt for the story
Wow! Didn't put the two "friends" together. Shit! Deep stuff!!
Also, Violet was pregnant, but Stevie the little prick his not the father, this is why he is upset about her and repeat she is a liar.
I never thought about this before. Just another layer to this masterpiece. @@LeSaff
The whole time i was watching this i didn't even think about how hard it would hit with y'all also being twins.
Same here. Made me cry myself.
Beautifully said ❤️🙏
So perfectly said

Fun fact: at the time Screech's Tale was released, the Big Ben clock in London was undergoing major renovations and was 'clocked out'. Silent - gone.
it‘s crazy how much of a genius ren is, love the details.
alright boys, this one was heavy, it is time for something light and rap rappy, check Losing It by Ren
Or wicked ways
I actually agree losing it would be good aswell
or if they wanna hear some amazing alliteration they can watch The Hunger

Yes! Most underrated comment.
He did warn you in the middle of Violet's Tale at the staircase... "The Devil comes to dance"
I thought it was "the devil comes two times" (first her father and then her boyfriend)
Checked. You're right it is devil comes to dance
@@sateentuoksu I remember because the line hit me hard. Scary things happen with that.
Where he is is also important when he says this: he raises his head and looks at the staircase: Stairway to heaven
@@sateentuoksuI mean, that is accurate.
The end hits hard for me because i can't help thinking had they been raised together they could have been each others support system , not the downfall.
They were raised seperate, its only obvious, otherwise Jenny would have recognized Screech.
We all understand this. @@riveredflush
You guys need to have some happy fun Ren in your life. Yes, Ren has happy, fun songs. Check out "What You Want". It's silly and fun!
I agree
Yep, this is a rough one - it's about generational trauma, and Ren is such a good storyteller that we become very invested in the characters. I can only imagine how much more impactful this must be to twins. Thank you for a heartfelt reaction, looking forward to more Ren!
How Ren can make grown, tough men cry shows how good of a storyteller he really is. Thanks for showing this raw emotions in your reaction, guys! ❤
Thanks for sharing our emotions with us !
After this a lot if people go to Chalk Outlines with Chinchilla since it will show you Ren's singing skill and introduce you to his musical sibling.
If you want rapping do The Hunger. He also makes the beat and does the beat boxing in the background.
How to Be Me as well ❤
And Ren doesn't even need to act in "Chalk Outlines"... I bet he's legit scared having Chinchilla's fingernails that close to his face! 😁
This trilogy brings awareness to Intergenerational domestic violence, how often the cycle perpetuates...
It does need to be addressed. But how do we answer it?
And yet it continues
Me too xx
Lol . 🤔😆💜😃💜
Love your energy. You will definately not be dissapointed by Ren..Ever. Thank you for reacting to such a talented artist.

Thank you for tuning in !
Yes, indeed, life can be a lottery! Thank you for tuning in. We appreciate you.
Love the reference to another Ren song! 🥰
I have seen a lot of reactions to this song and the end of Violets tale gets me every single time
This was another very enjoyable reaction.

Try not to talk over the guitar parts. They're some of the best parts of the entire piece. Though his lyricism is off the charts. There's always more to music than lyrics alone. :)
Btw, have you listened to any of his rap tracks yet? I think you'll love them. He can genuinely rap like a rap god! :) However, it's his singing that I really love! You're in for a treat there too! Got my notifications on and I'll be waiting patiently.
best reaction boys. i cried like a baby when i first heard this. I believe that Ren will go down as one of the best of any times
I would not be surprised if he did!
When you said "I'm ready for it" all i could think was, oh no, you are indeed not at all ready for this. 😢
Ren got the idea for Jenny tale from news paper he read about a 14 year old boy that kill a young streetwalker with a knife
Read all of it. ❤
Renegades mount up!
I've listened to Suicide about a million times and I'm never emotionally ready.
JEEEZUZ im so sorry this affected you both.. I was the same when I first heard Violets tale..but I survived with the man being sent to prison.. sending blessings to you both from the UK 🇬🇧☮️
U are going to love the Money Game Trilogy
Thank you so much for understanding our emotions and allowing us a safe space to feel them, we cannot wait to cover another Ren video!
This was unequivocally the BEST reaction the The Tales I have ever seen ❤
what a truly amazing reaction. i have watched this so many times. it is shocking & moving each time. i cannot imagine, you being twins, how the twist plot shook you. would love to watch your final thoughts. and then expand your ren rabbit whole. he is so dynamic and multi dimensional. you will really appreciate the artistry
Thanks for empathizing !
Yessss! I thought the whole time of "Regulate" by Warren G
And in Jenny`s tale, when she had that strange feeling walking the street, that might have been a twin thing...
There is something in my eye......You are amazing! Both of you! Thank you for this reaction it was so real.
Thank you for tuning in. We truly appreciate you!
I'm so sorry for suggesting this I didn't mean to upset you guys I didn't take in you being twins too. But as you love hop hop checkout the Hunger his flow switches are some of the best I've seen. Much love to your channel thank you for your hard work with Ren it just keeps getting better I promise.
Nice. You did do this one.
Thanks for sharing our emotions with us !
Great reaction boys! Youre starting to move up to my top 5 reactors
Just seen your Hi Ren, superb reation guys. This gonna blow ya minds...pressing play... 😁👌👊👊👊👍
Didn’t even think about how you were twins also tell the end wow
ren is the best out there
Respect on the part 2 coming, it's a rough story I've watch over 500 reactions to the tale & it still hits me in the feels
fingers crossed for sick boi next lol
I've seen this video and didn't take the fact that yall are twins until close to the end. Seeing the way it hit you, as sad as it was, was beautiful. Definitely earned the sub. I've seen countless reaction to this song and yours was truly the one that held my attention the most.
Wow thanks for the wonderful comment! Appreciate you taking that ride with us
Please do The Hunger next ... if you want bars and flow changes, this is the one to check out for sure.
I've cried with you... actually... I cry every time at the end of this trilogy... history repeats itself...
Thank you for so much and sharing our emotions and we cannot wait to cover some more songs!
@@StrawhatDynasty Can't wait to see you guys react to some bars. Notifications are definitely on bro's. 🤙🤘
Thanks for sharing in our emotions ! We appreciate you!
Yeah, it took me days to recover from this... As a commentary on generational violence and neglect by the powers that be, I believe it's unparaleled.
You two perfectly captured my reaction when I first heard this. Except I wasn't on camera, and the tears just fell. Mind blown.... Great reaction.
Would love a follow up video on this one to get the wrap up, of the experience as a whole.
Thank you ! It just happened naturally and that is seriously a testament to REN’s ability to connect with his audience !
Thank you so much for the hugs! We really appreciate you
it's one of those once you figure it out and you know you know.. putting it all together it makes sense.. he released that in 2019.. the kids were 14, so of course Violets tale was a rewind to 2005 (two zero zero five). Such fantastic story telling!
Wait until you think about Patrick not being home and Screech's girl being 'busy'?
I've always been wondering what the obsession with this is amongst Ren fans? [sorry that you got to be the person I'm asking now ^^']
It's just mentioned so often and I think it's the one completely dull and unnecessary trivia about this song/story.
Wow! What a reaction. I love Ren. You did him justice- with the extra layer of being twins. You’ve got a sub 💕💕
Thanks so much ! Appreciate you tuning in! And thanks for the sub!
Thank you for telling me what the melodic line of Jennys Tale reminded me of... I've been wrecking my brain for months now!
Jenny and screech is a masterpiece, of course ten has a large body of work and lots of great stuff. This one incorporates so many genres! You don’t need to apologize for no closing thoughts because you reacted honestly and articulately throughout, very well done, thanks!
🌻❤️
Great react guys! Can't wait to see where you decide to go next on your Ren rollercoaster! Maybe Genesis? or the Hunger? So many possibilties!
This is easily the most visceral, heart wrenching reaction I've seen to this yet.
And that's exactly what we're here for.
Subbing.
Thank you so much for sharing this experience with us we truly do appreciate you tuning in!
Also thankyou so much for introducing Slick Rick to me cheers
