Pat Benatar Sings "Precious Time" In 1982, US Festival, Great Concert, With MUCH MORE To Come!
LYRICS:
Promises in the Dark
Never again, isn't that what you said?
You've been through this before
An' you swore this time you'd think with your head
No one, would ever have you again
And if takin' was gonna get done
You'd decide where and when
Just when you think you got it down
Your heart securely tied and bound
They whisper, Promises In The Dark
Armed and ready, you fought love battles in the night
But too many opponents made you weary of the fight
Blinded by passion, you foolishly let someone in
All the warnings went off in your head
Still you had to give in
Just when you think you got it down
Resistance nowhere to be found
They whisper, Promises In The Dark
But promises, you know what they're for
It sounds so convincing, but you heard it before
Cause talk is cheap and you gotta be sure
And so you put up your guard
And you try to be hard
But your heart says try again
You desperately search for a way to conquer the fear
No line of attack has been planned to fight back the tears
Where brave and restless dreams are both won and lost
On the edge is where it seems it's well worth the cost
Just when you think you got it down
Your heart in pieces on the ground
They whisper, Promises In The -- Dark

Song lyrics checked for accuracy against album sleeve.
Pat & Neil are still together and making music.
That guitar solo has to be among Neil's best. Guys like him and Elliot Easton (Cars) are among the more underrated in pop music.
Pop music not.
I agree!
2 superstars in cool phrasing. I said for yrs, Niel Geraldo- Elliot Easton. Good stuff.
agreed 100%. easton is the most unknown and under rated. his great guitar lead solos made most of the cars songs. giraldo is way under rated, but more widely known than easton, fortunately for him..
So underrated!!
Where's the love for Myron's drum part on this song? It's brilliant. He's a GREAT drummer.
Myron was great for pat and for lita ford
Yes, absolutely. One of the best drum tracks ever.
I LOVE Myrons drumming !!! Saw him in DERRINGER many times live prior to him joint Pat Benatar 🙏
Pat Benatar...the best...better than all the rest...Long Island Royalty...
One of the most underrated guitar solos of all time!
Saw her 83 , one of the best llive voices ever !
The QUEEN of ROCK IS STILL REIGNING
Yes, Tina Turner is
Neil Spyder Giraldo is one of the most under rated guitarists ever, and he's been on top of his game a long time. this is by far my fave PB song. the solo is 2nd to none.
This was Glendale CA. 1982 US Festival footage where Van Halen killed it too.
Utterly agree. Hella good rythmasist.
BAITS AND BULLETS it was in San Bernardino California
True he's a great rhythmic guitarist, and can do emotional solos.
@@jiveromeintheie909 Maybe they confused Glen Helen Park with Glendale? :D
Magnificent Failure I know where Glen Helen is I live in San Bernardino and that is where the US Festival was held so maybe your confused
One of the best guitar solos ever. Neil kicks ass.
I appreciate all the guitar 'Masters', Vai, Satriani, Lynch, Van Halen, Beach, etc, but you can't deny Neil's style, tone, and most importantly COMPOSITION within the song,,, haunting - I put him in my top Guitarists list - so damn tasty!!!
Neil was in that group of other guitarists thatno one talked about much but he is fantastic and very underrated
@@JohnRocks6368 FUCKING epic 🙋
Thanks for this upload of my favorite Benatar tune. Always amazed at how the good lord managed to pack a 4-octave range and that much raw emotion into a package that probably only weighs 90 pounds dripping wet. Before vocoders and choreographed dance ensembles and dresses made out of meat and American Idol, you had to make it on talent. For any aspiring female vocalists out there, pay attention. THIS is how it's done.
Most underrated track!
+househeadericmd It's the best-ever track I've heard from an artist of her caliber!
I don't have words to say how great this whole band is!... fucking amazing. I was born too late.
Need to be put into the Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame. Saw her rocking show in 81. A night of memories.
Totally nailed the solo but with a live energy. Always enjoyed that record of Pat's, lots of dark guitar energy on it.
One of the best solo's of all times!
That solo!
Pay attention kids....this IS how guitar is spoze 2 be played!!!!!
that solo sounded exactly like the record BADASS.
Induct them into the Hall of Fame Now!
I think it’s his best solo. Amazing. Spider rules!!!
this is such an amazing song brings me back to 84 and Neil is one of the coolest players not talked about much.this solo is perfection and the song is like built around it!!I remember MTV playing this and saying this guy is incredible playing a pink bc rich bich I want one still!!what tone he had on the original BTW and pat was awesome as well! !
My favorite song of hers and favorite solo.
Always been my fave Benatar tune. Thanks for posting this live version.
Pat, is the one n only best lady of the 80's;
I love this song!
Man this takes me back.....I was there and it was my 18th birthday...September 3, 1982. That day was one of the greatest days of my life.
If I had a wife like Pat!,My solos would killer too! Nice to see that they're still together after all these years! Setting the husband & wife bar high!
damn i loved and i miss the late 70's and early 80's for music..it was a great time..so interesting and so much great stuff..
Must be a lot of millennials writing comments here, which is fine, but I really liked benatars work in the SEVENTIES. Great video, thanks for posting.
She only put out one album in 70's. 1979's "In The Heat Of The Night"
I friggin love pat with all my being she totally rocks i hate that she doesnt get that much recognition for what shes done for women in the music biz i love it and thanks for posting it!!
She is always great .
Easily her best song.
can you believe giraldo's solo?! that guy was, and is, amazing.
King and Queen.
I was just saying Neil can be almost heavy metal. I just went to see them. A++++!!! Awesome 👌 👏 👍 😍 💖 😎
About radio, it was not released as single. They made video and played it live as staple for years but it was an album track. Pat and Neil established themselves as more of an Album selling band (smart). Sure they had 19 top 40 hits but the albums sold i believe over 25 million at this date.
Great voice !
Just saw a recent Benatar concert on TV. Spyder was unbelievable. WAY underrated!
Fantastic solo'! I love the several styles he mixes in.
Thank you for posting this great performance.
Great Song! Great Guitar player! He killed it! One of the most under rated Guitarist ever.
Damn....excellent guitar work...the whole band was bad ass...no doubt she was queen of the 80's...smile Patricia you are a legend...and spyder too...
geetarz were the shiznit back in da awesome 80's....guitar driven rock iz ma fave😀
God, the guitar solo! No one was doing stuff that tasty back then...
+David Bruce It's album perfect too. Spider is a damn fine guitarist.
+David Bruce Persicely !!!
Beautiful performance!!!!!
God what a beautiful woman
This is fantastic... Pat's vocals are stellar, the band is stripped down making this track more honest, gives it more punch... and Neil, just KILLS that solo...Excellent rock n roll from Pat and the gang!
Great guitar work. So cool.
This is so Awesome thank you for sharing it with all of us ...
Wow! Neil Giraldo so hot playing power guitar! Pat's vocals strong as ever live! Thanks for this rare musical gem :)-
What a tune...One of her best songs.
Neil had an incredible style. Great guitarist. That paired with Pat's five octave voice made them one of my faves back in the day.
"Life is too short...so why waste Precious Time"?
Nobody can sing and play like this anymore!
There are still a few 1982 us festival videos and full festival or full sets like Pat's full set. *wish i could have gone!*
Thank you for sharing! One of the best singers and one of the best guitarists and one of the best drummers of all time.
This gem of a video alone redeems much of YT. ❤️
How could 11 people not like this performance???
Not only is the video rare But this band sounds "GREAT"
It's strange, but this is one my favorite songs..especially the guitar solo
Great live footage! Thanks for posting!
that right there is one of the greatest guitar solos ever !!!!!
What else 2 aay!!! This. Is how singers should sound. Live!!!!!!❤❤❤
Has anyone noticed that the full moon you see at 2:35 appears to be a graphic added on, and not part of the actual sky during the performance? It would have looked if the shot had been taken with a camera on a tripod, but it's quite obviously a handheld camera, as you can see the image moving around, but the moon remains stationary!
Mark Teicher.... man I wish I would have seen her in concert
I love this video. Pat looks incredible, her and Spyder were in love and they were #1. I never got to see them in concert and I will always regret that.
Great video and Niel is such a fantastic musician. I must of listened to that solo until I had to sleep.
The greatest female rock singer ever...end of
Neil's the deal! Incredible musician/song writer. Never given many accolades or features in guitar magazines etc but, all us guitarists out there know this guys the shit!!!!
Tremendous guitar solo
Awesome!
The Queen!
2023!!! Nov, and still TTD, ❤, Noone!! Can outsing this WOMAN!!.
That guitar solos...wow! Ranks up there with Steely Dan's "Kid Charlemagne" (Larry Carlton). Those bends and that crescendo vibe; the measured phrasing in the beginning belies the total guitar orgasm towards the end of the solo.
Pat and Anne Wilson the Queens of Rock.
I was so lucky, saw Pat live in 1980, 81, and 82 at the top of her game!!! For my money, the best female rocker( along with Joan Jett) ever!!!
OUTSTANDING!
Thank you for Posting.
And THANK YOU, Pat for the GREAT TUNES!
neils solo is fuckin sick. very underrated pat benatar song,
Great vid gwash! Love the vocals & guitar. Pat looks grrreat and she has that look like she'd kick your butt if you crossed her :o Love it!
Holy shit yes!
thanks! another great song! everyone so tight! peace
Spider, OMG! A BEAST!
I was so upset that they got the keyboard player OVER rhythm guitar. I think they could have gotten someone that could play both and kept the drive of songs like this, Promises in the Dark and other harder rockin' hits.
thanks for sharing!
One of my favorite solos from Neil ~ the albums' recorded track had a great sound quality to the guitar and it was a great solo, I just don't know what the hell she's singing about (especially the second verse????) "liquid diet, doctors' on vacation so you took the medication, trip to Paris.." just a rhyme, or was there a hidden meaning in the lyrics?
Has anyone pointed out to you that that you posted the lyrics to Promises in the Dark?
Neil is the best guitarist Pat is just fabulous.
This is one of my favorites...not any of her # 1's...Hearbreaker or Hit Me With Your Best Shot were ok for me...but this one and Wuthering Heights are my fave's. Love you Pat N Spyder
goddess!!!!
myrons biger ludwig camo drum set ' was a classic drum build! myron was agreat like john bonham', terry bozzio', ginger baker. thanks peace
