A nice little visual touch to match the rest of his dismissiveness towards the charges until that priceless look on his face when he realises that he's dealing with a true believer, who can also be swayed by an angry wife. Showing us the amputation was brilliant; letting us see the combination of bloody barbaric punishments with modern technology and medical practice.
