    this is probably the episode that broke June completely into a different person. the person she is now in Canada is nothing but a shell of her former self. there’s no way june can get over the traumatic experience she endured in Gilead but hopefully someday she can make peace with it

    Sienna's death was the most tragic for me. She started off too afraid to stand up to anyone for almost the entire season, treated like a child by Beth and June until she finally was able to stand up for herself and be a part of the resistance. She's one of the best examples of 'no one is part of the resistance until they have to be,' and alongside Janine, Eden and Esther changed for the better because of her actions. The fact that she and June exchange those looks, they both know that they have to let go of one another in order to protect everyone else. The worst part is seeing her cut off before she can say anything else but her name, and even that she was starting to talk made it seem like maybe, just maybe, she would be able to stay alive. The fact that she, the most innocent of their crew, was ripped away like that feel reminiscent of her relationship with her daughter, Hannah, and becomes yet another thing Gilead takes away from her.

      @@joshTHX It makes sense for a lot of reason.
      First: in Gilead, a large group does not build strength, on the contrary, it is more visible to be capture.
      Second: From the beginning the Marthas and the Handmaids have been separate groups who do not get along. It's the mission at the end of Season 3 that makes them work together and unite but it makes sense that in that night's confusion, the Marthas (who were more than just Beth and Sienna) left on their side to find a hiding place while the Handmaids went looking for June. Or each group was looking for June but it was the Handmaids who found her while the Marthas were captured.

    • @rominn2184
      @rominn2184 3 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      It wasn't a "bad" season per say, but there is a good amount to criticize and that can hopefully be improved for Season 5. I personally am not sure I am sold on Moss's direction. I will have to rewatch the complete season when it becomes available on DVD or Amazon Video or something. The music wasn't as good. It was rehashed tunes from the previous seasons and nothing really new or original. The direction the show is going in is focusing too much on June becoming a martyr and seeking revenge. As many of the characters in the show criticize and observe, it is becoming too much about June and June only and June's revenge and June's this and that. The object of ridding the world of Gilead for the liberation and realization of all its women and emboldening women and girls elsewhere in the world is being forgotten. And if I am remembering correctly, there weren't that many flashbacks this season which have been the knots sewing together the pieces of each episode. They are so important because they give context to and inform the present. Of course, the pandemic disrupted the synergy and flow that connected the first three seasons. So, to some degree I don't fault the directors and producers for working with what they had. But now that things are starting to improve with vaccines, less travel restrictions in certain areas, I hope they can give us a Season 5 that is killer. I am willing to wait for it.
