    That “I’m the best on the court” mentality works wonders. If you can actually convince yourself of it, nothing will hold you back.

    • @GlobusTheGreat
      @GlobusTheGreat 5 ปีที่แล้ว +32

      Literally yesterday I just thought that as I went out for a game of pickup (it might have helped that I'm pretty sure I did happen to be the best player on the court at the time-though I didn't know that at first), and I played one of the best games of my life. I think I scored like 66% of my team's points, and I wasn't even being a ball hog. I just had an actual 100% field goal percentage. It was incredible, and that kind of shooting (and the confidence I had before I let those shots rip) can't be attributed just to playing slightly weaker players. The mindset is HUGE and I've always been the kind of shooter who is either "on" or "off," and I wonder if I've kind of just cracked the case by applying the "best player on the court" mentality.

    • @GlobusTheGreat
      @GlobusTheGreat 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@iranianintelligenceagency9337 Yeah it's sick but I've also found that practicing specific game like shots a lot and then executing them in the game is another big boost cuz I feel no lack of confidence if I know I've put up the shots in practice that I'm taking in the game. If I miss I don't question myself at all because I know they are the shots I have worked on and can make consistently. Good luck man !

    Awesome tips. My only point of different advice is that I tend to find it helps to not think about out-of-game effects, even positive ones. For example, thinking about how people will remark about how I played a great game will still take me out of the moment. Personally, I find that my total focus should always be on the next play. What can I do next? Are we on defense? Okay, let's do this: get a stop/steal/rebound. Did we just get a stop? Okay, I've got this-spot up for a shot and drain it, or see if I can break my defender down and get in to the paint and finish or find the open man. Keeping total focus on the game helps me reach that mythical "In the zone" state where you play your best and your instincts are in total control, every neuron in your brain focused on how you can make the next play better for your team. If I think about how many people will think I look cool or respect me after the game just takes me out of that state of being one with the ball/one with the game, which is when I play at my peak.

    • @GetHandles
      @GetHandles  5 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      Agree. The advice on thoughts about out of the game effects were meant for before the game, not during. Great point.

    My mentality in game situations is that if I made a mistake on the last play, I can’t undo it, so I let it go and focus on the next play. I take it one play at a time and don’t worry about what happened last time because the only play I have control over is the next one.
