Slim to none! I play a lot of pickup bball on the UCLA campus. During the Summer, a lot of NBA players play there. I'm the average NBA height so I don't get killed just on account of size. I get killed on account of speed, quickness, length, strength, shooting accuracy etc. etc. Even guys barely hanging on to NBA roster spots are beyond unstoppable.

Each 4 year age group in America has 5 million males. About 20% of boys played organized basketball at one point. So in every 4 year grouping about 1M boys have pursued basketball. Of that age grouping, about 150 of them will be drafted for the NBA but only 2/3rds will actually make a roster. So the math says 100 out 1M. One of 10K are the odds. Now the odds of having a sustainable career are even longer. There are a ton of players that had 2-3 year stints as journeymen and primarily played overseas after not making the cut. So I'd say 1 in 30K of having a true NBA career.

Of course I am not saying that simply by trying hard to make the NBA, you will, of course that still doesn't guarantee it. However, you need to add up your personal situation's factors to get a more realistic percentage on your chances. If you have faster than average reaction time, great cardio, and are average or close to average NBA height, or if you're 7 foot, and you are training 3x more than the average basketball "pursuer" AND you are tracking the progression of your skills and adapting your training according to skill targets- then the 100 out of 1 million chance you talked about IMMEDIATELY gets raised, and you probably surpassed 95-99% of existing players with the factors i just listed. And yes that still doesn't guarantee you the NBA, and many more factors exist, but I'm saying the personal situation DOES matter, and those factors, and your effort and training do make a difference which can definitely SIGNIFICANTLY raise your chances.
I would disagree, I think strongman/weightlifting, and sprinting,, and swimming. Basketball cannot rely the most on genetics because by definition it isn't just testing your core abilities, like fast twitch muscle fibers for sprinting, or the big muscles for lifting, or lung capacity for say swimming, rather basketball also has a motor skills ball handling element, which requires a lot of trained skill. So in a sense thats why some people can outwork their genetics in basketball. However why I think it SEEMS to rely on genetics has more to do with the sheer VOLUME of basketball players and talent pool participating, where even if you are very skilled, there is simply too many "good genetics" guys also competing which statistically causes also many of them to be skilled, leaving less room to compensate for lack of genetics with mere training and effort. Combine that with the funding and training programs available everywhere in the country with great coaching and developed systems, and the very institution of basketball is already good at bringing out the best in all players, naturally giving the best gene guys an advantage.
I'm 11 years old and practice all day. I have a big dream to make it to the NBA and I will keep on grinding. I do drills while playing by myself and I know that if anyone can make it to the NBA, than I can to.👍
Living in a country where basketball isnt that bug my chances of making the NBA is like 0.000001% but im trying to get to the best leauges possible for me. Ofcourse I wish and hope I can make the NBA but being realistic I won't. I give my 100% everyday but its hard to play becuase 1. Not true about Europe. Lots of talent is needed there too.
