  • We are installing a repurposed tower here in Medina County and I'll be uploading shorts on our progress...
This is after the hole had been dug and swivel/tilt base installed in about 900 pounds of concrete. I installed the first section of tower just to get it leveled up. For almost 400 bucks, I expected a little better quality on the base. The holes on the tabs that hold it in place do not line up, the swivel plate does not set flush with the base plate, so there will need to be some work done to get everything to set right/straight. This base requires guys or a mount to affix it to the shack and the reasons listed prior are why, in my opinion.
I'm not saying it won't be solid once done, just figured I would see better quality for the price. MORE TO COME!!!

Great job so far when the guys get anchored in and tensioned properly it will flex and contract with the wind and weather no worries. Thier is a sweet spot between to tight and to loose. Main thing is make sure those screw anchores are deep. Possibly concreted in as well. 8 foot copper ground rod and that high dollar high gain antenna I do believe at 65 feet 35 watts out you out to get a nice 25 miles ring of coverage depending on terrain minimum. It looking great keep us in the loop brotha man !

Ohhhhhh... 100%. I got all my parts in today, so I may be able to have it all up by the end of the weekend. Fingers crossed.

Just got my license, are you able to create a DIY repeater? Just because the FCC is very strict.

I had a poor man's repeater up for about a year. It was very inexpensive but definitely not as nice as the real deal.

So, how much space is under the hinge plate and the base plate? I would try to add a rubber pad between them. Make it fit tightly enough to let you put the safety bolt back in

Between the hinge and the base there is hardly any room at all. I had to shim it with large washers due to the fact it wasn't sitting flush. For the price of that plate, I truly expected a little bit better quality. I have a video coming up to talk about the whole process and all parts of the build... STAY TUNED!

Looks like guy wires are in your near future. I know that I have guy wires for my 40 footer when ever I put it up

@joecraft4409 I wasn't at first since we have the bracket mounted on the side of the building but for my own piece of mind, I did add a set at the 40ish foot mark. Nothing wrong with being extra safe, right?
