    You need to get that cement above the ground level to keep from water sitting on the legs and rotting them out.

    36 inches deep? Oh My......I have the 56 foot version of that tower and I dug down 5 feet. My hole is 4 foot square and 5 feet deep.

      I know! Add to the fact that the soil is very loose and they didn't use any re-bar. I definitely won't be climbing that tower.

    No cage of rebar or some other attachment to the tower through the middle of the concrete on the base? Just the 3 legs in a few inches of concrete at the perimeter of the yard of concrete?

      a lot of it will depend on wind/ice loading but yeah ....... i'm going to be putting up a couple of towers soon and i'd rate this base as OK for a 40 foot tower for 10-15 years tops with no ice and max wind of 70 and a 2 foot windload.

    +1 on needing the top to be about 4" proud of grade. And wheres the rebar cage?

    Do what the amish do, just pour the quickcrete into the hole and mix it with dirt, in time the quickcrete will soak up the water from the surrounding area.

    For my father-in-law's tower we poured a 4x4x4 rebarred with 3/4" studs welded to the rebar everything cemented into place for bolting down a 1" plate which I drilled and tapped for leveling bolts.

    You are going to want to add more concrete on top of what you have there. The concrete must be above ground level for water drain off or those legs won't last long. You will need a lightening arrestor and a ground strap. Flat woven copper, not a wire.

    This guy does this for a living? Know way I would want him putting up my tower! 😳

    That's what I call digging a hole the hard way. I prefer a generator and a hammer drill with spade attachment.

    “You should always wear a safety mask when mixing concrete so you don’t breathe in the toxic cement dust, but we didn’t use them because we didn’t buy any - and besides, Josh is an expert because he does this for a living using his pink handyman concrete mixer”. 😂

    How did you keep it plumb while you were pouring concrete?

  • @nivid01

    Mate, as far as I can see there is not enough overlap where the black legs overlap and are bolted onto the actual tower structure. Is that Ken who wears an Hawaiian shirt to scale dangerous high towers? If it is the same guy, the so-called expert, then he should know how to pour a proper tower foundation, attach legs, and construct a safe tower!!!! But alas.
    But notwithstanding the above, your videos are well made and entertaining!!!!

    @RadioTom103 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I don't have any experience installing towers, but from what I've learned, this is a very poor example of how to do it. No rebar, no levels, no extra grounding. Yikes!

  • @rtoledo2
    @rtoledo2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Everybody is a critic . that is a crappy set up , those angle irons are straight , if enough wind hit that tower , that angle iron would pull straight out , those 1/4" round pegs welded are a joke. but i'm just a critic. hole is not deep enough

  • @nivid01
    @nivid01 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Mate, sometimes you and your colleagues stupidity on fundamentals amazes me. Amongst other things, the level of your concrete should be at least 100mm above the ground to protect from welling of rain water and corroding of the steel legs over time!!
