Venus theory is great. A little bit of an acquired taste but there's an honesty to what he offers that you can't really fake.i can see why people dislike it, but I've got a different opinion as do other people, and that's perfectly ok.
He always sounds so bummed out about something, and the ominous ambient background music makes it even worse. It's like he's going to therapy but role-playing his therapist too.
All jokes aside the Maslowian struggle to self-actualize do be do be scooby dooby dooby do, be real, though 💪some food for thought, and a healthy dose of purpose-driven existential angst from our dear friend, "the mustache guy" 🙏❤
i said it 3 years ago on a djpain1 video that all the big money went into tech…. aint no money in the industry anymore and got ate up in the comments/perceived as a hater lol
I agree.. I think people have different workflow. There’s different seasons. Sometimes you’re going hard sometimes you promoting.- but I think different people do work differently
This is the thing though. I can sit an entire evening and noodle on five seconds of a faux saxophone lick until it is kind of convincing. Or a human being who knows how to play the instrument can play it while I record it, in five seconds. And it is better. I have produced tracks with bands where the best take was one complete take, blemishes and all, still better than anything I could comp out of all the other takes. Also, I need to wear my robe more often at home now.
Glenn Fricker gives excellent advice on mixing old school heavy metal and folk metal, but the majority of his following is making more extreme (black/death metal) or clean stuff (metalcore/deathcore) so his advice ranges from useful in the basic sense (how to record drums) to completely pointless There are so many excellent metal production channels, he would be fine if his channel was half its size but it's not and that bothers me. Unfortunately i think his fake angry stuff is a big part of his popularity
I don’t agree that he gives excellent advice even in those genres, his angry persona prevents him from holding any nuanced opinions. He calls so many useful ideas garbage and thinks his favourite workflows are perfect in every situation. Some of his earliest videos are really embarrassing, I agree that it’s crazy he’s so popular.
He reminds me of the dude from the Gamers Nexus channel if you know that, that attitude where everyone else in the industry is a moron and he's the only person who knows what he's doing. Despite the fact that he has no notable credits and we can hear how shitty all his guitars sound. It does seem like that attitude works on TH-cam, it's the "do your own research" thing but with Chris Lord-Alge as Dr. Fauci.
00:13:15 "old skool" styles, ay?... im here in 2024 recording DAWless, using tape, not digitally releasing EVERY arp or textute i play as a "song". edit: wow, that dude ended that video like a total jerk. note to self, stay humble.
I think it takes a lot of effort to maintain that persona, though perhaps it comes naturally to him, dry, droll, & yes the whole thing with the face hair in the past put me off listening, but at least he doesnt pick his nose while streaming, or look like he just got out of bed & did a line...Your quick cuts and rants are pretty annoying, even though there maybe some nuggets of good info in what you say, it's harder to listen to you than him.
Don't just wear any dress. You would defs slay in a slit leg ball gown. You might have to do some mods or at least pin up the trail so your board doesn't get caught though. Demon Time, betch!
Glenn Fricker is the Alex Jones of the guitar world. At least they sound the same. His take on speakers is true, but of course it’s just one part of the signal chain. The same quad of 4x12s will sound slightly differently depending on the resonance or shape of the speaker can put into them. Neveirmind his BS Pickups don’t mater with high gain…
Nah he's not on ozempic, he's actually become a gym rat the last few years. It's annoying because every once in awhile he'll try to fit in a scene to show off his tight torso. Guitar Samurai is close to doing this also. He's been wearing tight t-shirts to show everyone he's been to the gun show.
I could care less about Venus Theory's borrowed wisdom in his short life . I do like his graphics which show me his chopped up items and workflow in Reaper. I can relate to that and I like many of his free and cheap samples. Personally I think he should present himself a bit more professionally, get a new hair cut , shave and put some powder on his face. Even a propper hat and an actual shirt go a long way
This is a pussy way of doing it. If you really want to experience what it is like to compose music, then compose a song in your head before recording it. If you think that's impossible, that is how everybody did it before they invented sheet music, or recording devices. They simply recorded it with their memory. That forces you into writing cohesive, memorable music.
Man I hate when people are fake ANYthing. Most of TH-cam has become a miserable cesspool of fake emotions for the sole purpose of marketing. Too bad no one ever asked whether or not people actually LIKE faked emotions. It's like the human equivalent of adding gimmicky features to your product.
His facial hair seems to stare at me. It doesn't match the rest of his whole thing, his studio, eyeglasses, hairstyle..all cool... But Then the facial hair.... Strange insecure vibes
someone in your chat said he does work for games. there are no credits for him working on any games that i can find. not on his website or anywhere, anyone who's done that sort of thing links it on their site to show their credit work, kinda an obvious thing to do , i think he just spends all his time scripting and editing these videos is why he's too busy for your interview and he makes presets for plugins yea, i don't think he's worked on any games. never got that from any of his vids. he doesn't do fmod or wwise vids either. . Ambient music can be made in one afternoon, literally the easiest genre to make once you get good at it
I would imagine it's the whole ghost producee thing where he gets paid for his work, but they don't give him credit so he can't receive royalities from sales. This is common practice
Venus Theory looks like a character from TinTin
Ivan Sakharine, Secret of the Unicorn lol
Professeur Tournesol Jr.
I always have to think of Ned Flanders.
Last place I expected to find a TinTin ref
Hahahaha that's so right! My colleagues are now thinking I'm insane thanks 😂
It's the best Venus Theory video I've seen, but I can't watch him without this channel
Haha, I was just thinking the same thing.😂
Why is this so much more tolerable? I also agree
he's so intolerable without someone to temper it. i feel like each video is more pretentious than the one before it.

@@Yeebok he's definitely candid and bright, I just am easily annoyed by his crumugeon bit

Sanjay C is fake happy
All that free shit must help at least a little
Bro is a shill
Venus Theory is a young Benn Jordan
they hang out lol.
He’s more of a young Chris Randall.
He's more like a young Proffesseur Tournesol
Respectfully Weaver this video is unwatchable, just post a stream vod if you're not going to actually react to the video
Venus is right it will definitely change the way you make music if you take an ukulele to a sauna and compose something
Massive Melancholy, here 😔

Idk if you've noticed, but there's no money in anything anymore. #banbillionaires
Yeah, the value of music from the listeners standpoint is almost 0 these days because of tech being the top priority
@@BandHanananot true hommie. I know tons of folks who are winning in their financials. It's just not in "fun" things like music

Production cant outshine great music: "Shows Jean Michel Jarre" ... lmao

"no, you can't tell me what to do, I'm going to, I'm going to go get my cat back here in a minute" 😂😆😂😆
I would love a podcast with you and either BG or VT.
Bear Grylls?
B.G. from Hot Boyz?
Ben Gibbard from Death Cab for Cutie?

I don't know how long ago you said you quit smoking but it sure sounds like it was, today.
I was so happy when he dropped that corny "howdy doody buckaroonie" line.
I miss it. People are so humourless these days than anything playful is considered corny and cheesy
@@buckycoreit's just corny though

god damn im just gana find the video. watch your video. you cut in every 5 seconds. damn I get it sometimes but my fuck

Does venus theory even make good music or has a following from his music?
Why should I take his advice?
guys who make dog shit music but have 10k+ subs from production advice videos is my favorite content.

Dying facial hair is such a drag... Just extra work for little gain - just shave it off...
What's the deal with bashing Cameron? It's bordering on harassment at this point. I like your channel but you're kinda just being a bully.
It’s a marketing strategy
