FYI, they no longer do this style of layout anymore. On Day Zero after they call out your roster number and run through they just tell you to dump your ruck out and they call out each item and you hold it up. Same rules apply, if you don’t have it, automatic drop.
@@bennyg4381 if you’re talking about the gortex top, all you need is rank. I recommend the pin just cause it’s more secured. If you’re talking about the other jacket yes you do; although if you go from April to September you don’t need that jacket as part of the packing list
Went to Air Assault School in '83, had to layout each morning, but we had to place items in the palm of our right hand, Ear plugs, dog tags, and ID card. I remember every day shifting my ruck one space to account for those that got kicked out for whatever reason. Good times!
Hey brother, great layout tutorial, but they changed the packing list and inspection process recently. Equipment is no longer laid out for inspection, it's more basic training style where they call out an item or items and you hold it up while they come by to inspect it. Large ruck is used instead of assault pack. Blouses, jackets, and IOTV must have all patches, name tapes, and rank they are designed to take at all times. As well as a few other minors such as no leather gloves and no poncho to name a couple.

I went through Air Assault School in 1985 at Schofield Barracks HI. The first day they told us look to your left and look to your right and that one or both the men standing next to will not be here at graduation due to a 50 percent failure rate. It was true in two weeks we went from 60 down to 29. Back then you had to do the timed 12 mile road march first to get into the school as well as a 2 mile run on the PT Test in boots and utilities. No way the school is as hard now as it was back then. The majority of the class were Grunts and no women of course.

I'm assuming you'll take a separate bag containing extra shit like clothes so you're not smelling like ass and ball sweat.
It has definitely changed over the years. You NEED AT LEAST a med ruck, but i really like the tips you layed out on smaller items in ziplock
It was very pleasing to see evrything very well organized and folded so nicely. So much can fit in that bag.

No, it's totally different now.
