I'm glad I passed this really one of my proudest moments that I felt I earned in the army Also because when I enlisted the man who helped me get in did air assault so I felt I had to make him proud considering he saw my life go from welfare to Belair
It looks like the march on Zero Day is gone. Zero for us in 88 was a smoke show start to finish. In class, out of class. Course then ruck march. We lost lots of dudes that day to earn the right to get smoked the next morning, Day 1, lol. "Aerosol, what the fuck is Aerosol? You are in Deodorant school? Beat your face!"
"Each time that left foot hits the ground I want you to sign off with a loud and thunderous Assault!" "In your Kool-Aid pumping heart, what you really want to be?" I went through during January 1985 and nearly froze to death!
whet in 1974 they use to have to do a tree landing platform day and night , and the troop ladder, All the while getting inspected three times a day, three gigs and you flunked (11B20 CIB with star) There use to be no phases
Soldiers and Airman experience the grueling "zero" day of two week Air Assault training at Camp Rilea, Oregon. Candidates are required to overcome 9 obstacles, some of which are mandatory in order to continue with the rest of training.
The toughest thing in my Army career. I did go in1985 at Ft Campbell and failed sling load. At age 35 I did it and graduated at Schofield Bks, Hawaii. Schofield was a much tougher school.
Went though in class 52-82 (1982) - we were doing a sling rope seat class and watched as one of the "New" Black Hawks fly over us then burn into the ground. Back then they had so many problems they were called "Crash Hawks". I still think the hardest thing was climbing a rope ladder into a hovering Chinook in full pack. As you get to the top and have to climb in you are spent, the floor is slick with hydraulic fluid and you just know you are gonna slide out the back and take out everyone coming up the ladder....fun times.
My Dad was a Master Sergeant at Fort Campbell. I loved living on base in 82-83. I used ride My bicycle to school. I had the black BMX bike with the gold spoke rims. Wat you know about that? Great memories. Thanks, Dad ❤️.
@@Lionhart_215 What was the hardest part for Air Assualt? Because I just got my unit assignment and it's at fort campbell so I now know I have to air assault when I wasn't planning on it lol, I'm just wanting to get the best step forward into this! Any advice!?
Air Assault 1992 Ft Hood. Over an hr of pt then obstacles for an hour then 2 mile run. 12 mile road march in 2 1/2 hrs on day 6. Still remember the pain.
So this was my class, and I'm in this video, so thank you for shooting it. Is there any more videos from Air Assault School, possibly the rappelling from the UH-60?
Carlton Mcdaniels : I know Carlton, they are definitely "lolly gagging"....lol. I found out months later after graduation that the Cadre singled me out to be an example to the entire class of more than 300 personnel, when they watched me rapidly traverse through the obstacle course.... SSG Mabry told me they all said "there goes the honor grad"...An Honor to Serve!!!
What’s the general schedule for this course? PT everyday or just in the first half of the course besides the 12 miler? Is there anything you Army cats would change about this course?
May of 88 Ft Campbell KY was not hard enough in my opinion. But, I just transferred from the 2nd ID and was in pretty good shape from all of the road marches up and down the mountains of Korea.
My class was the second class to go through Air Assult School at Schofield Barracks HI back in 81 maybe. Two weeks before I went through PNOC . About a month after that I was shipped off to HALO and fricken PATHFINDER about 8 months after that. Finally got to sleep in the same Barracks at 2nd bat 75th. It seemed like all I did was get deployed all over this amazing planet we live on or go someplace for some special training. I gotta say my Greens had a bizzy jacket! But I loved every minute of my 8 yrs. #RLTW

The Weaver was the only really tough obstacle, other than contantly yelling Air Assault. Went through at Campbell in 1991. I think it was one of the last classes that allowed unit members to cheating you on and pace you on the 12 miler.
Nah, Airborne was super cake compared to Air Assault. Proud of both but two totally different schools when it comes to difficulty. Both worthy of their respect.
I’d be interested to see how, if any, changes are between when I went through there in 1977 to today. I don’t remember having to say air assault all the time? Maybe we did? Shit, I just remember we had about a half fail rate
On zero day they dropped a third of a class. I thought it would never end. My Sargent said "God help you if you fail". That pretty much motivated me throughout the school.

The hardest part of Air Assault School in 1989 at Schofield Barracks was saying 'Air Assault' all the time.
I was there in 1989. I was with HHB Divarty. There was me and another PFC. who went thru.
I was there in 88
Schofield Bks was a tougher school than Ft Campbell!
@@jamesfair4315 It was a kick in the balls. Terrain was always hell.

That's one hell of an assault course that's for sure. You've got to be really fit and have a lot of guts to do that I bet.
Air Assault!!!!! And when did they decide to paint the weaver? Keep the training intense Air Assault....
Pads? We didn't have any pads under the obstacles when I went through it. Well unless sand counts.

Camp Rilea! Been there! Haven’t done it but this really doesn’t look that hard.
Angry Grunt120 what makes it hard is really just the academics, that’s where most people don’t make it.
When did they start this ? In 1978 I was not required to do this .
why is there a ladder on the tough one?
I wonder which is harder, air assault school in the states, or P Company, the parachute regiment selection test 🤔

Cheating you on? Or chase not trying to be an ass just curious how they did it back in the day
i loved these class 10/87 2:20 12 mile, not the best but not bad
I wonder what school they’re at? Perhaps Airborne or Pathfinder? I don’t know.
Nah, Airborne was super cake compared to Air Assault. Proud of both but two totally different schools when it comes to difficulty. Both worthy of their respect.

whats the airforce guy doing?
I hope that there is female and male on the same training session because this is only the first one.
This is my class as well. Can I get some other videos from you if this day zero?
Loved the Hunting and Fishing there !
Campbell is the only place i was stationed at twice , C co 2-187 inf ( 1990-1992 ) C co. 2-327 inf ( 2004-2007 )
Wow! That looks like one hell of an assault course. Bet it really sorts the men from the boy's that's for sure
3:12, surely they'd have been much better, stronger and fitter, doing constant arm circle exercises
Class 39-00. May 2000
Class 26-00 Feb 2000
Class 24-21 May 2021
At 2:07 thats Meetch!
How many weeks is the air assault school????
It is 11 days.
Day Zero at the Weaver!
The course isn’t hard.. but right before they do the course from the 6 mile ruck and the run.. it weeds out the weak
Weaver is a friggen cramp monster
0:25 chair assault!!
Air Assault!!!
So I guess all our basic training was air assault school
Is Air Assault School required to join the 75th Ranger Regiment?
No
No but being Airborne is.
@@jeffsanders663 False. Airborne School is after RASP since people only went to RASP to go to Airborne School and quit RASP.

There is some airforce you can see the tiger stripe uniform lmao.
When they hit 65 they will not be able to walk.
Little misspelling on the title :p. Also the video is not as cool as the ones with planes :p

10 toughest days in the Army 🙄
It was the toughest ten days because you’d get smoke every day all day in between of classes etc..

I bet 92 was slower than 82 and 82 was slower than 72 and 1775 was the fastest
Banana Bandana Lol
Lol, 92's Army was a joke compared to today.
Shit looked weak, glad I was Airborne
Isn’t this the same obstacle course you have to do in BCT it looks pretty identical to me.
The hardest part of AIRBORNE School was not falling asleep. The hardest part of Air Assault School was getting there on time.
