I feel like there's a pretty big improvement you can make with this video - it's a bit disorienting trying to actually work out where the spots you're pointing out are just by watching the video (especially in the last section) so why don't you have a small version of those great maps you were using at the start of each section in the corner to show where each location is? Maybe also add a visual about whether the spot's best on attack, defence or both there too.
@@GilliamYaeger Thank you so much for the detailed feedback-this is such a great idea! Honestly, I spent a ton of time playing on this map and experimenting in private lobbies, so I might have overlooked how it feels for someone seeing these spots for the first time. I’ll absolutely include Spider Nest spots on the maps for future guides, and I love the idea of adding a small map in the corner to highlight where each one is. Great suggestion-thank you!
Amazing video, this must have taken a while to put together, so your hard work is very much appreciated. Just echoing what others have mentioned, but would love this for every map in future.
Great guide. I have recently come around to the play style of locking down a room and forcing the enemy to deal with me. I used to fight much more out in the open (putting my nest in corners). But I’ve been seeing the value of being really hard to kill in a place where the enemy does not want me to be. And if they let the convoy go by and think they can ignore me, I unload on their healers from behind.
Oh also thanks for bringing up how the car doesn’t stop on the ramp. I noticed that too, and couldn’t figure out what was going on. If you continue to defend on the ramp, the enemy spawns behind you. It’s best to fall back the moment they hit that stage.
Great stuff bro it's awesome. I've been watching a lot of top500 Peni streamers recently, and seeing this tactic used has been an eye opener. It's also incredibly fun to play. I had one game where even the enemy supports started pressing me hard. It was hilarious 😂😂😂
placing your nest and hunkering down in spots like the second floor windows in stage 1 are great for being on height and picking people off, but it makes you utterly useless as a tank. I would only really recommend hunkering down in height if you have a second, competent tank who can shield your team (like a Strange or Magneto). I also like to play my Peni much more aggressively (not necessarily hunkering down in a corner, being front and center and screwing with people with my web). This is coming from a diamond Peni, but this guide definitely would help other Peni mains. I prefer placing my nest behind corners that force people to come out of position to deal with them, while also giving my supports protection from divers.
Thanks for your detailed feedback! Just to clarify, I mentioned at the end of the video that this guide assumes there's a second tank alongside Peni, which can enable her to play in those more static positions. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts!
Im a diamond Peni as well. I also use this strategy as well as the strat mentioned by @stratphd I like to mix it up and keep them off balance. I try to maximize her high mobility.
@ hey, it was really late I didn’t quite get to the end of the video, I’m glad you clarified that at the end. I’m so used to fighting for a tank pair on my Peni that I kinda just threw in the footnote of “if there’s another” lol. Great video regardless, thanks.
@firephd Thanks man You ever get it where someone's picked a tank, and you pick Peni and then they pick a DPS? Its like no man, that's not how this works, I didn't pick Peni so you can be DPS 😂😂
I've seen a few Peni players alone inside rooms like this, instead of moving out of position to deal with their nest in whatever role I'm playing, I just ignore them and focus on moving the payload when their team is away and using my mobility skills if they try to get me as a squishy from behind
If you're able to ignore a Peni who has direct access to your backline, that's more about how the Peni is being played, not the position itself. A well-played Peni in that spot should be creating enough pressure to make ignoring her a mistake.
@@bluebopbopawesome. There’s so many Peni guides out there but it’s frustrating because none of them go over the maps and the best spots for traps. This video lays it out in a clear manner which I appreciate
What's with every Peni video I see, it's just Peni hiding in a room away from the team rather than acting like a Tank. I like to stay on point on both Attack & Defence, to protect healers from divers with the nest & mines. Mines also have huge throw range, so you can just yeet them into the backline, at specific flank points or onto health packs. If there's a second tank, it makes it even easier to keep our healers alive.
Peni is the best tank for peeling healers. If your team is struggling with dives, you should 100% take the initiative. Move your nest further back so your supports can sit on it too. That said, Peni’s role is as an off-tank, creating pressure and controlling space. If you’re playing her like a frontline tank, you’re just feeding the enemy team ult charge. Also, about the 'if there's a second tank' part... What do you mean if? There should always be a 2nd tank. Peni’s viability as a solo tank is D-tier. She’s not built to mitigate damage or anchor a team. If you have to solo tank, play Strange or Magneto. *Maybe* Groot if you can play him very well.
@@bluebopbop Exactly, she is great for peeling healers but that doesn't mean you should be off somewhere else doing your own thing controlling away from your team. Frontline or Off-Tank, a tanks goal is to protect the team by soaking up damage, as it has been for eons. If the Tank is eating the damage, the damage dealers can freely do damage and healers can freely heal. Ultimate charge? That's fine, you're a Peni, just disable them if they try or if they do, just peel like you're meant to, lol. Exactly as a mean, "if". Peni is a great solo tank, sure, she excels alongside another however she's not as bad as you think she is when she is alone, if she's S-tier together, she's definitely A-tier. Her kit it literally built for mitigating damage, her webs give her reasonable sustained healing + an overheal, her mines allow you halt an advance and her web straight up shutdowns an opponents damage output completely whilst you heal up and they blow up. She's quite a versatile option. If you're struggling with her or your team can't follow up off her, then you can switch up character, it is a hero shooter after all.
First time I'm seeing some suggest Peni take the high ground. Defeats the purpose of her webs when the enemies aren't going up there with no worry of walking over them on low ground.
I’ve only recently started taking high ground myself after watching top 500 Peni players. They use it pretty frequently, and I've started using it myself. Would I advise doing it against a dive-heavy comp? No, but that part should be obvious. It’s important to remember that Peni isn’t a main tank-she has zero damage mitigation. Her role is as an off-tank, providing space control and pressure instead

I feel like my nest placements on Klyntar convoy are awkward. I know a couple good spots but the stage 3 push just feels so open.
@GameGod77 yeah that stage 3 of Klyntar is rough, there's a few openings on the right side you can nest, but all easily destroyed by flankers.
all maps! this is sick!
More of these!! All maps
Great video. Would love would love if you did this for all the maps.
For sure I will!
Agree, I subbed in hopes of learning some new spots on other maps if new map guides get released.
@bluebopbop thank you bro I'm going for my third max proficiency with peni and this guide helped a bunch
Love this video. No bullshit, straight to the point, great accompanying visuals, very helpful!
Subbed due to the explanation and straight to the point in your Peni guide. Definitely need these on every map.
