I have been preaching the good word on the Kingfisher for so long and so many people just shrug and mumble something about it "not being that special". This video is so validating. Kingfisher just going around handing out death while walking through death
9:47 There is a *very* fringe situation where an ammo death could occur in classic. Because ammo explosions do 2 pilot hits, if you got 2 pilot hits (falling, random LBX BBs plinking the head armor, etc) and then both ammo bins were blown up, you'd get 6 pilot hits, instantly killing the pilot, which would count as "mech destroyed". That said: that is a *suuuuper* niche situation you'd need to find yourself in, and I don't think the simulation using Awesome's as the benchmark is ever going to find that situation without killing the pilot with a head shot instead of an ammo explosion.
@@EnderPryde Any Blood Spirit worth their salt knows the Kingfisher plays great with all those IICs. Who's got time for being flashy when there's killing to to be done?
I got the older metal one when i ordered the clan Star for Alphastrike and after a few games of CBT with it it became one of my favorites. Then the new model came out and now im happy.
Love Kingfishers. Have for years, Had one about 15 years ago that was reduced to a stick after being the focal point of an entire assault lance and they were so angry when they were flanked and taken out while trying to take out this Zombiemech.
10:35 wow a ten , note to self get at least one of these for my Nova Cats . Probably already was because the Huntsman is in the same box might double down at least . Like knew this mech was good after seeing it only once but this is off charts
I love some of the oddball Clan Omni's that carry standard engines. Stooping Hawk is a personal favorite just on the looks. Battle Cobra as well. Standard engine crew for the win.
The perfect balance of speed/power/survivability and range. While some other clan assaults are more powerful 1v1 this thing competes while giving you enough BV for the rest of your star.
Ive only seen a Kingfisher once on the table , unlike every other Clan Assault omnimech I was shocked by its survivability . Sure the fire-power is weak on paper compared to say a Warhawk or Direwolf but its still punishing
Great analysis :-) I've fought this mech a couple of times and after the first fight it became a KOS mech....you can't even harry it with lights as those large pulse just kill them in seconds....a nasty mech that shows older is often better :-)
@@DeathfromAboveWargaming Yeah, this 'Mech came close to knocking my Warhammer IIC down a ranking from your Battlytics. It's a very nice 'Mech, very durable. And a decent speed for the Assault class. I'm looking forward to seeing you maybe fielding this in the future against Thom. Clan Snow Raven vs Clan Jade Falcon to see who rules the roost! The chicken and turkey jokes will be flying that day!
This is amazing. I have all the clan boxes and sort of overlooked this guy. It’s incredible what a standard engine will do for you! Great breakdown Aaron.
That is as fast as it can get, period. Fusion engines only go up to 400 and that one has a 380 in it. It is a nice solid mech, and a part of me wonders if it helped inspire the Hauptmann, even though it skimped on ES and FF and had a smaller engine. I like most omnimechs with standard engines except for one, the Strider. There is one thing you never give up when designing an omnimech and that is Double Heat Sinks. The rest are optional.
An awesome bonus feature is that almost every configuration has an energy weapon or two in the CT. You can lose both arms and both torsos and still throw out a LPL, 2 ER meds, or an ER PPC (!) to force the enemy to finish it off.
@@DeathfromAboveWargaming Given this monster's configurations, I think I would prefer to take the 1st engine hit over losing the great weapon. Now, if you said soaking would be gyro hits, I am with you 100%.

For a low gunnery, the thing is carrying pulse lasers for days. So it's not like you need a high skill in this variant to make the magic happen. There are others with ER PPCs and LB-X autocannons where I feel gunnery is much of a more needed investment, but for a 'cheap' Assault-class OmniMech the Kingfisher Prime is a monster. This just gives you some slugging power at a lower cost for other newer generation Omnis to skirt the battlefield anyways.
Reasonably fast, good armour and packs a mighty punch. The only drawback is the lack of a one-punch weapon like a Gauss Rifle, but it's still a monster overall.
Hmm. I don't know which is lighter, off the top of my head, the streak 6 or LRM10, but scrap the heavier one, move it to the LT, Clan XL, Gauss in the left arm?
It doesn't look scary, It looks like an overgrown... Turkey... not to be confused with the Turkina! My buddy pulled one of these out the first time I he played clans against me, he got mad because I focused it hard, and I can attest they are tough as hell.
This has got to be my favorite clan assault mech. I don't think it's as outwardly impressive as more famous clan assaults, but this thing is a beast.

Well said! I love the blood spirits and this is a perfect assault Mech for them: not flashy, tough as nails, fugly, and fierce!
Ive only seen a Kingfisher once thank goodness but I was struck by its rightness in that battle

Did not know this mech was this good. I thought it was just another clan mech named after a bird. The ornithologists win again it seems.
😂
Based off the Pulveriser. Nice. Clan Blood Spirit came up with some great designs w/o using XL engine as well.
Agrees in blood kite

Agree. And another reason I love those second line mechs!!
"This thing has a ton of armor" ... no, its got 14.5 tons! :)

In AS... It is almost always in my lineup of Ghost Bears. It is a BEAST and has more armor and the H does more damage than a Kodiak for less cost

Quite a beast, no wonder Star Adders based Blood Asp off this.
