Fun fact chen baekhyun and chanyeol wrote this song and sm thought it would fit red velvet but it didn't because of how they produced a very fast paced then slow then fast again and the reggae vibes incorporated in it, It will fit their vocals no doubt but when they perform it live it doesn't cuz it will look cute but it doesn't fit the vibe of the song that's why Red Flavor was made for them and they are a girl group can you even imagine them doing that kind of choreo because i dont think they would even if they changed the choreo the song itself made it a whole lot different from the demos to the lyrics made by the exo members so yeah :) it's like you saying red flavor was supposed to be exo's song can you imagine it? it don't fit af XD tbh it's funny when i think about it cuz suho keeps dancing to the red flavor choreo whenever
@@-_-3776 red velvet has very versatile vocals! they can go from rnb to ballad as well and they do have a song called sunny side up which has a reggae sound. another fun fact! red flavor was offered to little mix but they didnt accept it. another example would be russian roulette was supposed to be nct dream’s. sm songs rotate all the time and yess respect to chen baekhyun and chanyeol for writing the lyrics! i agree that it fits exo best and red flavor fits red velvet best but i was just wondering about the possibilities if it was given to rv :) like they would add their own color or make it sound completely different so they can make a whole different choreo that suits them and their sound. or it would’ve probably been a bside so they wouldnt need a choreo
@@misfitnicss the fact they rotate the songs means that specific group just didn't fit the song or the group itself didn't like it regardless of their talent and it pretty obvious that sm artists are very talented so i know about that fact i mean im a fan of both groups and i didn't say just because of the reggae vibe incorporated in kokobop doesn't mean rv cant it's just they didn't fit the song that was made clearly for a live performance since it's kpop but for vocals either group could take it even nct if they wanted to so that's just it and the rest is history i respect your opinion tho no worries ;)

I think he meant choreo only versions like the one he watched where there really wasn't any camera movement; usually the live recordings have a lot of cutaways and zooms into people's faces so you normally can't see the whole group's choreo at one time.
This brings back memories. I was addicted to the 'dowm down baby' part then that's the start of me going into kpop. Thanks to EXO! They are my first group i stan❤️

I miss the time when kokobop went viral for its kokobop challenge and EXO performed this sooo many times that all exols probably know the lyrics by heart. Personally i like EXO Power choreo more, mainly bcs there's so many iconic parts like, the slow motion dance, kai unending spins, the chorus choreo that made them look like they're giving the powers to the fans and let it resonate if that make sense? But yeah, you should check out EXO Power next, although you'll probably be damn confuse watching their mv bcs they're continuing their storyline and concepts through mvs.

I love this kinda vibe in EXO!! Like The Eve, Love Shot, Oh la la la, Chill, Oasis, etc. I've only seen the first three on stage and also have those little details and power moves on the choreos, so cool!
I'm not sure why you couldn't find many live videos of this performance, but EXO have said themselves in the past, that "Ko Ko Bop" is one of the songs they got tired of, because they performed it too many times.

fun fact: beside red flavour by red velvet, kokobop was really big in 2017 back then! basically those two were the summer bops of 2017. the "kokobop challenge" (the choreo in the last chorus, 'down down baby!' ) went pretty viral globally that even the (ex?) president of philippine did the challange😂 it's also one of their songs that they performed most often😆

Exo makes commentaries in their songs in a subtle way. This one is about drugs and its hallucinatory elements. With their powers, they can make things happen under the influence like Suho and water, D.O. and strength, xiumin and ice/frost, chanyeol and fire and so on.
I love ko ko bop so much, it's my favorite mv from exo, it's so artistic and aesthetic for me. The coreo also is one of my favorite because there are so many points of interest that are build during the performance. And the music is unique and have a great vibe. So all these make ko ko bop special to me.
I remember seeing an interview with EXO where Chanyeol said this was the song where he had to remind them that he was a member of this band, too. Since the choreo was so difficult. 😅

Love your video, as always! But also, I'm actually surprised when you mentioned that you barely saw any live performances of Kokobop because I remember watching so many of those when I was first getting into EXO. I do agree that there should've been a dance practice because it's such a good choreo and it's such a shame we cannot fully see it with all the distracting lights/camera angles. I do hope you check out and see more live performances of Kokobop because there are better versions than the one you watched 😅

To understand the story in EXO's "Ko Ko Bop" MV, you have to keep in mind that the story in "Ko Ko Bop" is connected to the story in their "Lucky One." MV. "Ko Ko Bop" may look trippy and crazy, but if you understand EXO's storyline you will see that everything was done for a specific reason.
There are 8 members in "Ko Ko Bop." This was the first MV where Lay was unable to participate because of the political issues between the Korean and Chinese government at the time.
I can see how people might think that Ko Ko Bop is a drug they are all taking and that is why they are acting like they are high and kind of in a loopy drugged-like state. But to really understand what is happening in "Ko Ko Bop," you have to understand what is happening in their "Lucky One" MV. In "Lucky One" EXO has been captured by the Red Force who is doing experiments on EXO to try and figure out what makes them special, and to find a way to prevent them from finding and protecting the Tree of Life, etc. The members all use their powers to escape from the government facility and this is where theories say that the story in "Ko Ko Bop" picks up right after they have escaped in "Lucky One".
The blue Ko Ko Bop drink that Suho mixes and the members drink, and the pills or wafers you see them eating, is supposed to be an elixir that is helping the members to detox from the drugs the Red Force gave them when they were being held against their will in the "Lucky One" MV.
The Red Force is represented by red light and red objects. Any time you see red that has something to do with the Red Force. Blue is thought to represent EXO. When you see purple these are instances where the line between the Red Force and EXO is blurred and the two sides are fighting for control, etc. -- red and blue mixed together makes purple.
According to SM Entertainment the story in "Ko Ko Bop" also shows the members soon after they have arrived on Earth and they are all experimenting with their powers.
So in "Ko Ko Bop" you see Kai with the power of teleportation using his power to levitate and Suho with the power to control water jumps into the water and disappears, and later appears inside the washing machine, etc. You see Chen with the power of thunder/lightning/electricity playing with his power and you see Baekhyun use his power of light as he throws the ball in the air and creates that huge flash of light and Chanyeol uses his power of fire to create the fireworks when he bounces the ball into the sky. D.O. accidentally uses his power of strength/force and splits open the ground when he falls down, etc. Xiumin has the power of snow/ice/frost so he is using his power to create a cloud to fill the glass. Sehun uses his power to control wind to make objects float in the air. And, the car looks like it's driving by itself because they are using their powers to control the car, etc.
Their unbridled use of their powers and the haphazard way they play with their environment around them can be explained by the fact that they were drugged in "Lucky One" and while they are still dealing with the drugs in their system, in "Ko Ko Bop" their inhibitions are lowered and they use their powers without caution.
So part of their story goes: The members were trapped in the maze by the Red Force in "Overdose" and while they were trapped they were captured and moved to the government facility in "Lucky One" and after escaping in "Lucky One" we see them detoxing in "Ko Ko Bop."
However, since then, we now have "Obsession's" part of the story where we have discovered that the Red Force has created X-EXO clones. So some theories now think that instead of "Ko Ko Bop" being about the EXO members, it might be showing us X-EXO. If you remember in "Obsession," the members in the bright colors with the crazy hair and makeup were the X-EXO clones and the members in the all black outfits were EXO. So now some theories think that maybe because "Ko Ko Bop" is so colorful, that it is showing us X-EXO right after they were brought to life, and this is their first time out in the world. So X-EXO are playing with their powers and trying to figure out how they work, and they are getting acclimated to their environment, etc.
Everything EXO does has something to do with their storyline and their origin story including every single one of their MVs, most of their sub-unit MVs, solo MVs, live performances and choreography, as well as teaser videos and concert VCRs. Nothing is random or done without a specific purpose and meaning and it's our job as fans to piece it all together.
But, as you can see, to make it even more difficult to follow, nothing is in chronological order. We have to become detectives and analyze everything that EXO does in order to try and figure out where each piece fits within the larger storyline. However, at this point it's only theories and educated guesses. With every new release from EXO it adds another piece to their story. Sometimes that new piece helps to confirm what we thought was happening and other times it turns everything on its head and we realize that what we thought was happening wasn't even close. We can only hope that someday SM will finally explain everything, so we will know whether what we have been thinking all along is correct.

EXO's video cater more to continuing the storyline of their concept that's why some videos don't show as much choreography as we would like sometimes. For example, POWER's mv had no choreography at all, solely focusing on the story.
