    Scott’s redesigned Spark is unabashedly aimed at being the hot new ultralight super bike. At first glance its striking profile looks more like a hardtail than the capable 120-millimeter full suspension rig it is. The Spark’s aesthetic is sharp and modern-this is clearly the new benchmark in mountain biking when it comes to contemporary frame design.
    Most notably, Scott’s design team was able to completely hide the rear shock from view by tucking it deep within the bike’s downtube. And although the Spark remains a cross-country steed at heart, it’s equally well suited for long backcountry forays over rugged terrain or any mission that requires an exceptionally efficient ride while remaining tough enough to handle the occasional steep descent.
    The Spark is an amazing example of what’s possible in a light package with the latest and greatest technology available in the mountain bike world. It truly feels like a super bike when you’re riding it. With its futuristic look, I did notice an uptick in attention from gearheads I met out on trail. Any prospective Spark owner should prepare themselves to field lots of questions from understandably curious fellow riders. All small talk aside, the Spark is an amazing option for a rider looking to put a premium on efficiency and climbing performance, but who still wants to get deep into the mountains and never sweat it when they come across the occasional black diamond section. If you lean towards cross-country but harbor an interest in getting a little gnarly, then the Spark could be the perfect fit for you.

    Please, don’t ever change these videos. They’re perfection from start to finish. The intros where you see the bike (with the awesome music) gives me chills every time.

    How would you compare it to other high-end 120mm bikes like the Transition Spur or Pivot 429 trail, Ibis Ripley, SC Tallboy?

    The fog and sun is a mindblowing combo 🙌🏽
    The Spark looks clean.. is it as noisy as it seemed to me?

      It was a pretty fun day to be out! I think that's mostly chain slapping on the stay.

  • @stevebrandt9349
    @stevebrandt9349 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The Spark did not have a rear pivot before and used a flex-stay - this is not new to the redesign. The 900 series is 120/130 travel, not just 120 as you say. The RC versions use 120 forks but have the same frame. Scott has been doing SRAM drivetrains and Shimano brakes for at least 6+ years. You don't say anything about the flip headset to change the headtube angle 0.6 degrees at will. Out of the box 900 series have it slacker while RC models are in the steeper position. Looks like a really fun trail you rode it on.

    Your bike reviews are definitely the best of the best. I so need you to get your hands on the Propain Hugene. I am pretty sure that will be my next bike and I would love to see how it performs with you riding it.

    Rocky has a new element out. Can you review that as well?

    • @johnsospencer
      @johnsospencer 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm sure I was using all of the travel. However, there was no rear suspension clunk. It ramps up nicely.

    Great review man! I didn't know your channel but i'm now a subscriber. I ordered this bike back in October (patiently waiting) and you review gives me confidence I made the right choice (since it's the first time I'm buying a MTB without testing it). Thanks again!

    The RC Models with a 120mm Fork are specced with a 70mm stem (or Cockpit) but you did ride the Trail Version with 130mm in the front which are specced with a 60mm stem.

    Great review, looking a trail bike, light, good climbing but best descend possible because incame from a 160-150 bike, Spark sounds good, Vs Spur? Also stumpjumper could fit, light enough but climbing i think its not very efficient.
    Any other bikes around 130 that could be easy in 28lbs? I ride from some 30miles with XC friends, to some 1500.feet chunky descends in the Alps.
    Thanks a lot

    I'm looking at the 910 version for my next bike but agree with you about the stem length - shame you cant really change either because of the integrated Syncros cockpit. Would have been cool if they gave you the option to choose a shorter stem.

    • @matthoyle2344
      @matthoyle2344 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You should be able to put a different Syncros stem on the 910 and any bars of your choosing.

    My friend put this bike together for his son and before I knew it he was done th-cam.com/users/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L When the son came to put it together he was surprised to see it was already done. All he had to do was take the bike to get air and be on his way. My friend did not have any major problems putting this bike together; small issue was putting one of the brakes on straight; however when the son got home he was able to fix it. The bike rides well gears move correctly; good bike for the price. Wrote review after the son took the bike. Sorry.
