I’m pretty sure Allen recorded all four tracks in the same session. I thought I heard Gary say that him and the other guys were egging Allen on to keep going because he was on fire.
If I had it, I would . But I don't have it anymore, I didn't keep the project file. This was made entirely with Sony Vegas can you believe. Now I use Reaper for music and Premiere Pro for video. Keep at it, you can do it.
That would be easy to do if I still had the project file, but it's long gone. I can't remember how I mixed these. I think I just tried to make it sound like the original, then I added the individual solos. The Alternate mix is my favorite parts from the first four spliced together, so it should actually be called Alternate Version. My goal was to have a version of the guitar solo that I could play.
treble way up, mids about half, bass until it feels right and just a touch of distortion on a mostly clean tone, should sound like a marshall or a vox.

How do you explain the 4 solo's heard here then? Cause I have heard every one of those parts in the original mix, they just go in and out with each other. That's why the original mix has such a great complicated tone for the solo. There are 4 recordings layered together!

slight chorus effect,actually. most likely added by Al Kooper during mixing,as Gary Rossington plugs DIRECTLY into his amps.

These other responses are incorrect. Gary used a Maestro phase shifter pedal. It's also on "Tuesday's Gone" and "Call Me The Breeze".
