Foreigner attempts the scariest trek in Maharashtra | What I wish I knew before starting the trek

- Hey guys! In this video I attempt possibly the scariest thing I have ever done… the Harihar fort trek. Harihar fort is located in the Harshewadi village near Nashik in Maharashtra and is famous for being one of the scariest and most dangerous treks in this Indian state. With 80° rock cut steps leading to the top and aggressive monkeys roaming around the fort it is not an easy hike to accomplish. Before completing the trek I found a lot of conflicting information online about how long it would take, the cost to get in, the difficulty level etc. so I decided to clear all of that up in this video. In part 1 you can watch my vlog of the trek where I film myself hiking up to the top of the fort, showing you exactly what it is like along the way. Starting in the village i hike over rocky, slippery, flooded terrain in the middle of monsoon season, before ascending the dangerous and steep rock cut steps to the top of the Indian fort. In the second part of this video I give you all the information you need about the trek in order to complete it yourselves, answering the questions; how much does it cost? How scary is it? How difficult is it? And more. I hope you enjoy this video thanks so much for watching :) Subscribe to see more content on my Foreigner in India series where I journey around the country to new states and cities, exploring India as much as I can

Just loved when foreigners come and explore these incredible places .... Maharashtra is a land of Forts made by warrior king chatrapati shivaji maharaj.
I would really urge you to explore more forts Maharashtra. Also these is the right time to visit forts as it's Green every where due to rains as Maharashtra has a different colour in Rainy season.
There are some awesome waterfalls as well make sure you visit them as you can't afford to miss them.
I know a few awesome climbers who can show you more forts and waterfalls and who has you tube channel...
Also do visit our coastal belt Konkan you'll forget beaches of Goa...
Keep it up... ❤ From Mumbai Maharashtra
@@adityam2803 I have seen a lot of historic places so far from Chhatrapati Shivaji, he is a hero in Maharashtra and I have loved learning about the history behind the Maratha empire as I travel around this incredible state. I have seen there are so many forts in Maharashtra which all look incredible I hope I get to explore some more. Thank you for your suggestions I will definitely look into everything you’ve said ❤️
@@Charlottemihell Thank you..... stay blessed stay safe
A Trek to Kalavantin durg is the scariest. But i wouldnt do it myself so wouldnt suggest it to anyone else. @@Charlottemihell
@@Charlottemihell Please do come to Fort Purandar near Pune which is birthplace of Chhtrapati Sambhaji Maharaj son of the great Chhtrapati shivaji maharaj, the villages nearby Purandar have given many renowned warriors like "raje umaji naik" "Lahuji Vastad" from villages like "Bhiwadi" "Mahur" which were once famous villages in traditional Indian wrestling.
Check out from Maharastra: Karla, Ajanta, Ellora, and Elephant Caves, while you are in that state.Vipanassa pagoda, Sinhagad Fort, Mahabaleshwar Hill Station, Lingmala Waterfall, Pratapgarh Fort , Aga Khan Palace, Mount Mary Basilica, bollywood tour

Wow...all the best names in one video...
@@bobbyeapen6049 I have already put out a video on Mahabaleshwar including Lingmala waterfall and Kate’s point. And a Pune video including Sinhagad fort and Agakhan palace if you are interested in those!
@@Charlottemihell ah k, will check em
What you mentioned here belong to a normal tourist itinerary. Harihar fort is a trekking spot...belonging to a mild adventure sport category, it can bever be on a tourist itinerary.
Good to see foreigners exploring places other than Delhi, Rishikesh, Goa etc. I have hiked around 60-65 forts in Maharashtra. Must say that the views from the forts are astounding. Have fun and Safe trips in India:)
Wow you must have seen so many amazing places! I hope to hike through a lot more forts around Maharashtra if I get the chance 🤞🏻
@@Charlottemihelldefinitely you should try as not such foreigner visit that so you may have different experience from others, don't worry all places are much safer only consider to get some information from experience trackers for any visit.
Happy that someone started exploring Maharashtra treks 😊 hope you explore more forts
A Mumbai influencer died during the Clicking selfie in the waterfall so be safe while handing the cam there many places you will not find the grip for hands it's sleepry
Oh no that’s horrible :( yes I didn’t film much of the staircase process for that reason, I would urge anyone else doing the trek to be sensible about not trying to film in those situations
Maharashtra is beautiful✨✨
"I've trekked all over Maharashtra, but experiencing it with you guys is truly special. Gaining a fresh perspective adds so much value to the journey."
"You should have gone to the top-the view from there is on a completely different level! Still, it's wonderful to see you guys exploring the real essence of Maharashtra. The region’s landscapes, culture, and hidden treasures are one of a kind. Every corner holds its own story, and it's incredible that you're taking the time to immerse yourselves in it. Keep exploring-there's always more to uncover!"
Hai Charlotte as you are in Nasik district. Please vist Ajanta and Elora caves as its close to you less than 180 kms. And just give most of your time exploring KAILASA TEMPLE only. There is no construction in Universe like it. It is the most mysterious and beautiful temple on earth. Take stethoscope with you and check on the ground if there is really a city underneath. For tip and new thing please show the entire garbhgruha as no one till has shown it properly. Use guide just for this temple don't waste money for entire Ellora explore. Make a documenry if needed on Kailas Temple or make a series. Share information with us and people all over the world that has never seen before. Tuesdays it is closed. Good luck dear.
@@vikramv1683 hi I absolutely plan on seeing the caves while I’m here! Thanks so much for your advice I appreciate all the suggestions and information I get from people on here 🙏🏻

If you are in India and miss it .. then you miss the biggest Marvel...
Yes, very entertaining. This place is on my bucket list. may be one day I will make it. Very simple narration. I like that you are exploring Maharashtra with motorcycle!. Kudos! Very well done.
@@wimsupshow I hope you can make it to the trek it’s well worth doing even if it is very scary! Thank you for the kind words 🙏🏻
Proud to be a Maratha.
Thank you for visiting Maharashtra 🙏🫡
Welcome to Maharashtra....
If u r planning for coastal regions in maharashtra also called kokan region... Start with harihareshwar & southern region of it.... It's most beautiful region in rainy season also can see most waterfall & scenery....
@@user-oz7iy2zo4g that sounds lovely thanks for the suggestion! I will definitely have a look at those areas
@@Charlottemihell google... best places in ratnagiri / sidhudurga
That was not the top if you go all the way up you'll see flat and awesome land and awesome views and some other forts(not much in rainy season with luck) so it will be 4 hours,
snakes always will be there have to be careful in wildlife,
don't ever spray perfume or deodorant or pain relief sprays that will attract bees and can become dangerous,
avoid using camera on the edges,
for monkeys avoid taking food on some places they will not take any other things just ignore them...
Some suggestions of forts:
Salher - Heighest fort of maharashtra,
Salota,
raigad - renovated this fort and made it his capital in 1674 AD,
rajgad - capital of the Maratha Empire under the rule of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj,
Ratangad,
Harishchandragad,
Bhimashankar trek,
Rajmachi
and so many
All the best exploring Maharashtra... :)
Thank you for the suggestions:)
Yo go girl. Congrad's on the trek! I mean, it was wet! What a view!
@@bobbyeapen6049 it was very wet but so worth it to reach the top!
A big salute to you and lots of love from Maharashtra
If you staying in pune or nearby you I'd like to suggest sm plcs. And need any information before visiting junner let me know I'll tell you.
🔴 first you should go to Rajgad fort near to pune , near to Sinhagad fort Gal you not gonna regret rajgad fort is heaven.
🔵 junner is 60km frm pune. Junner is very old historic lil city, you can see lots of caves and waterfall jungles. I'm mentioning some plcs down below.
Bhimashankar wildlife sanctuary /jungle treks, bhimashankar temple,Shivneri fort, chavand fort, hadsar fort, Lenyadri caves, daryaghat & ambehaatvij the waterfall plcs, naneghat ancient trade route, amba ambika caves, kukdeshwar temple, etc.
And yaaa in nashik you must visit everest of Maharshtra "kalsubai peak.
🔴 kalsubai is super easy and the higher peak point 📍of Maharashtra.
This trek will give you chills. Never take it lightly, always watch your step, be 200% alert when filming. Most importantly try using GoPro
I recommend you to visit Ajanta and Ellora caves since you are in Maharashtra! Moreover, you can visit the lonar lake as well if you planning more Maharastra iconic spots!
@@omkarbhise380 thanks I will look into it! I will absolutely be visiting the caves while I’m here as they have been on my bucket list for a while
Explore some of the tourist places form Nashik
Ex. Trambakeshwar,bramhagiri etc.
I recommend you to visit Harishchandra fort since you are in this district. 1). Scenic views 2). Relatively easy and safe trek level 1 of the fort where u will see ancient temple make out of whole stone 3). if u want more adventure you can walk to 2nd part which is like 5 to 6 hours more and tough. Just dont get lost and use village path for part 1 its safe and you will also find guides in Village if u need. Dont need guide for part 1 for main router. secondary route or from jungle path is unsafe and in foggy day new people get lost in jungle
@@swapnil9340 thanks for the recommendation that sounds like a good trek :)
@@Charlottemihell It is beautiful but this isnt a good season to visit as it is extremely slippery. People got lost over there dusing monsoons and were found dead as the fort was inaccessible during severe monsoon. The area that it covers is also huge.
@@parth7612oh no that’s awful, it sounds like something I may have to postpone until the winter season in that case
@@Charlottemihell Yeah, it was a very disturbing incident to hear. Yes post monsoon would be the perfect season if you can visit during that time. You would get beautiful lush green views and yet wont be risky. The flowering season would be on full swing at that time, with flowers like 'Sonki' (Mumbai Senecio) all over.
@@Charlottemihelland also, go there with people who are well conversant with this place or who have done it many times before. Also you need to stay overnight at the top. If you go there, you must visit the 'konkan kada'.
Jay shivaji maharaj 🕉️🕉️🚩🚩
Great vlog❤
You can visit 'pandav leni' too since you're already in nasik.
Ancient caves similar to ellora
You should go up, the view from the top is so beautiful❤ Please do some more popular treks in Maharashtra like Sinhagad Kalsubai
You definitely like it and have a wonderful experience also😀
Thats great that you travelled so long to visit the fort and Amazing maharastra . Do visit konkan coast with lots of tourist places to enjoy and learn about Mahsrastra. Finally do remember Safety First. Enjoy!
Thank you my friend 🙏🏻
One of the most dangerous treks on the planet I would say
Beautiful vlog😊 I’m glad you tried ❤ You said it correct that its not physically challenging but its mentally challenging 😄 be safe and have great time ahead🇮🇳
Thank you! 🙏🏻

Welcome to india, maharashtra😊
Awesome!! Glad you enjoyed. But try Kalavantin Durg...if you dare. That is a more dangerous trek. People have died doing that and yet there is excitement about it.
@@nileshsalunke5915 I would love to try it thanks for the suggestion!
It's highly dangerous to hold a mobile and trek that too when it's raining. Stones are super slippery.
U come into kolhapur and try all kolhapuri food and fort and tams all about this most adventure forest and waterfalls❤❤

Great vlog.... After seeing your photo 8:16, I am feeling scary😵
Thank you, I was feeling very scared too 😂
Nice video, I recommend you visit Kalu Waterfall with stopping point as Diwanpada and trek from there. It will be worth it I promise
Maharashtra is full of big tracking mountains any in summer is too hot to trek, in monsoon too sleeper to trek, winter it get dark early
Maharashtra seems to be the best place for fort trekking yes? I have heard winter is best for trekking but the monsoon can be fun if you’re careful :)
Bro why it is dortu there??? Literally plastic bottle everywhere 😫
Many people lack the civic sense it's a common problem every tourist and temple places in india it's sad but many local NGOs are working for that
Welcome to Maharashtra pls visit waterfalls also ❤❤
❤ from Nashik
Careful during the rainy season
Nice vlog.
Somehow indian tourism ministry is bad at recognising potential tourist spots and providing facilities there, by sheer virtue of it's size india has a lot of potential for tourism.
India could have so many great tourist locations that no one knows about. I agree that with a bit more work the tourist industry could be massive here
That was very scary and u are very brave ..this trek in mansoon is really hard but its worth going to top
Ganpati Bappa morya
Loved it

Love ❤️ watching you
great track
I wonder how scary is it to come downhill. Also i have seen those russians who climb all the way up on a tower or bridges. 😵💫
It is so much worse coming down than going up! Russians are a different breed haha they are known for doing the craziest things 🤣
❤ from Maharashtra😊
Welcome to nashik maharashtra
Nice Video. Try Matheran Hill Station - nice place
Going down is very difficult, I experienced the same, sometimes, you can't see the step, but you have to just find place where foot is touching.
Great 👍 👌 👍 ❤
please visit bramhagiri mount in trimbakeshwar maharashtra 🙏
Go to kumbhe waterfalls it's very beautiful
There is AMK trek for which you need a guide as well as team. Better to go with a group.

Always welcome mam
Har Har Mahadev 🚩🚩🚩
Visit Kalavantin fort. it is also scary
also in Nashik district visit bhandardara, harishchandra fort
And one piece of advice if you are looking for a toilet go to the fuel pumps you may find one
I will look into those places thanks for the advice :)
God forbid one accident happens and Government will close the whole place down. One guy fooks up and slips, the whole cavalry will fall like pins. Its extremely dangerous.
Yes it is very dangerous everyone who attempts it should be very careful and not go up if they don’t feel 100% confident in doing it
Please be careful all the time....
It's rainy days..that's the risky
So nice ❤❤
if u near nashik visit bhandardara and Harihareshwar , sula vineyard
You fell off the bike near the speed breaker we came running to pick you up remember you came to nashik.
You are likely to be the first foreigners to visit there
If we are then I hope it inspires others to visit these places :)
Create good thumbnails you'll get more views.
@@bestvideos35 thanks for the tip bestvideos35
@@Charlottemihell and watch some other good vloggers for vlogging style. ex dan & beth travels, ellis WR, London ki lali
You didn't reach the top, it will take another 30-60 minutes from the place you stopped. And the view from the top is another level. One more thing, you can keep your luggage down in the shops(near parking) by giving them 10-20 rupees
Try "kalavantin"
I would love to try that trek I hope I get the chance to :)
Please don't do this again. It's dangerous. Not the weather or monkeys but men.
Your negative thumbnail trick works 😂 now 5k view's.
@@VidhyaGawali the thumbnail isn’t negative lmao it’s literally just stating what I do in this video. Go and get a hobby or stop watching my videos if you don’t like them. I don’t care for your views thanks :)
I'm yet to do this trek.. :-|
u can visit zanjeera fort and sindhudurga fort both are in the arebian sea. but 1 fort in raigad and 2nd is sindhudurga dist..... 👌👌👌
you didnt go all the way to the top ! how are you calculating time taken to climb ?
I was only a little bit from the top we went further than shown but not all the way because people coming down were saying it’s too dangerous for us. I was about 10 minutes from the very top so the time I took getting to that point you can still get to the top in that time
Charlotte, I am from Nashik, have done this about 3 times or 4!. What you call shaking legs I call them Wobbly feet😂😂😂😂.
You must be a pro at it by now! All of me was wobbly by the end 🤣
Maggie 😋
Monkeys are not on steep stairs. Kulsubai is highest peak will like it...
Well I was there and the monkeys were on the stairs, going through my bag and pockets
Going up is okay the most difficult part of a trek is going down
I agree with that! Going up was mostly fine but going down was horrible 😂
_"scariest"_ is a relative term, isn't it?
You're eyes are beautiful
Work on your video thumbnails, you'll get more views 💯
What would you suggest?
@@Charlottemihell Thanks for asking! I think you could try using bolder, more eye-catching fonts like white or yellow, as they stand out well on vibrant backgrounds. Cinematic fonts with a bit more weight would also give a polished look. For thumbnails, showcasing a captivating image-maybe a highlight from the video or something that sparks curiosity-would be great as the background. Putting a picture of yourselves in the foreground can attract more attention, especially from Indian viewers interested in foreign experiences. This creates a strong visual hook that encourages people to click and learn more about your journey.
You might also consider adding a short, intriguing phrase to tease what viewers will learn in the video, further boosting curiosity.
If you're happy with these suggestions and would like to discuss more, feel free to connect with me check bio
If it's a well defined path. Then it's not a trek.
@@sagarujjainwal7292 it’s called the Harihar fort trek. Everyone calls it a trek :)
Chant Hanuman Chalisa and the monkeys will leave you alone.
not the toughest . this is just that incline & crowd
As I said in the video, not the most physically challenging but it was mentally challenging for me as it was the fear :)
