There were some BAD Yankees teams between 1964 and 1976! LAST place in 1966, 10th of 10 teams! Their 1998 team could have been their best, rivaling the famed '27 team!
@@freeguy77yep, after The Mick retired, the Yanks went in the cellar for quite some time! It was a time when the "greats" had gone and the team had to rediscover itself. Happily it did. George came along and brought the Yankees out of their long sleep and a new era was born. Yes you're right, the late 1990s team resembled the fabled team of the late 20s. What a story right? ⚾
LOVE THIS SONG!! what a great song to be reviewed at the start of every season, ESPECIALLY with a great start for the 2024 season, to Honor Yankee Baseball Tradition, Heroes & History
Loved this song. Brings back memories of watching the original version on Channel 11 during the summers in the 80's. Joe D, Joe D, Joe D. The Bambinooooo, the Clipper & the Mick.
We need another Munson he was a very good defensevly also a great clutch hitter Should be in the hall of Fame one best catchers the Yankees ever had an they had Them dicky bera Howard posada mccann
Why is there such little mention of Lou Gehrig when he along with Ruth, Joe, & the Mick, were THE 4 greatest Yankees of all time?? Not only of the Yanks but they were also among the greatest baseball players of all time!
Big Yankee fan. Love this but there is the mandatory mention of Well Mr. Burns had done it, The power plant had won it. With Roger Clemens clucking all the while.
Keena.........LOLOL, This is not the NBA or NHL; the baseball season doesn't overlap between calendar years ! I think you both meant the '98 Yankees, who also swept the World Series, as did the '99 and 2000 Yankees. 1927 and 1961 Yankees were two of the greatest teams ever, along with the 1949--53 Bronx Bombers, who won five consecutive World Series; a record not equalled before or since, and will never be !!! Play ball !!!!! (and God Save The Queen !!) 3-29-18
@Egbert Souce: Ha, good thing I dint make a fool of myself by making the same comment first so glad I read ur reply. How any REAL baseball fan doesn’t know that baseball is the only one of the 4 majors (not including WNBA or maybe soccer which I loathe) is beyond my fast ball.
@@tombstone1111 1927-28 Yankees, swept two fine teams 4-0 each time in the World Series! Do you ever see anything like that from any consecutive WS champions, with teams rarely winning back-to-back WS at all, much less an 8-0 whitewash?
I love the New York Yankees and I'm happy and I'm glad they made it to the world series.👍
remember listening to this at 6 years old spending time with my grandpa teaching me how to wax a car or how to repaint something. Rest in peace.
Without fail everytime I watch it, it brings happy tears to my eyes.
I keep coming to this , loving my Yankees, hoping Gardner comes back and hoping there is a season. I love the Yankees but I want to see Gardner
Same, cant wait for the lockout to be over and the baseball season to start, Gardy deserves even more then a farewell tour hes still usefull
Were on a roll, lets go yankees
new season, new hopes for a new world series, also lets goo rookie#11
I miss Gardy too.
The New York Yankees, the team that showed us how the game is played. There will never be another team like it!

41st Pennant. Let's go Yankees, get our 28th World Series championship.
Gotta love those guys--no matter who you root for.

Yeah I was thinking the same. Then I saw this and thought, am I going crazy? I definitely heard "Joe D, Joe D, Joe D" when I was a kid....
I Love it especially the part that says Munson never quit as Thurman is my favorite yankee of all time.
How is this the first time i'm seeing this...and HOW DID I NOT KNOW THIS VERSION EXISTED?!?!?!
Paying homage to my favorite yankee of all time, #23 Don Mattingly
Another Yankees legend is gone. The Chairman of the Board, the great Whitey Ford.
I love this song!
I was about to cast this song by the wayside until I heard my man Don Mattingly mentioned at the end. Thank you !
Love it! My Yankees. ⚾️ 27-Time World Champs! 2018
I love it!!! YANKEES Baseball....there's nothing like it!!! Bring on the 2018 season!!!
The Evil Empire..( Red Sox fan since the 70s)

The Yankees are the only team that keeps me interested in watching baseball.
Great memories
@@johntarantino2056 Yankees stadium is a greatest stadium in history
This is awesome! Hope 2020 starts soon.
They don't make 'em like Thurman Munson anymore.
jayrokster...........Been a Yankees fan since 1961 but you have to give Yadier Molina his due, as far as current players go. 3-29-18
he was a great one. do his kids grandkids play?
Gotta update this with Judge DJ and Stanton
Who's watching in 2024
WS vs Dodgers
Let's go Yankees!!
Was that Jerry Coleman being mentioned at 1:09? If so that makes me very happy.
Why is there such little mention of Lou Gehrig when he along with Ruth, Joe, & the Mick, were THE 4 greatest Yankees of all time?? Not only of the Yanks but they were also among the greatest baseball players of all time!
I honestly can only hear The Simpsons Softball version of this play in my head even while listening to this.
Cool one
Anybody remember the Section 39 lyrics? Miss those times!

Mike Scioscia’s tragic illness made us smile
@@teacheraaron26 while Wade Boggs lay unconscious on the barroom tile.
Literally saw this episode the other day and it brought me here lol
We're talking softball from Maine to San Diego.
Why am I imagining a school district that goes by the same schedule as the MLB schedule? Like there were 8/9 teachers for every team
Happy Opening Day!
Love it.:-))))
yankee baseball love it!!!
I’m a Mets fan but this was very well done. #Respect
There's a version with Joe Di(Maggio)in it as well.
1997(the only season Wells and Fielder were both on the team).
Clever Yankees version
world series this Year for the Yankees this Year
We're going to need a new verse for Soto, Gio and Judge.
#28 … Let’s Get It Boys!!!
My favorite baseball teams are the new York
Yankees and any body who beats the Boston red sox
95-96 yankees greatest of all time. End of discussion
LOL, I think you meant 97-98 Yankees. 125-50, undisputed greatest team ever. 96 team was lucky to win it all.

What about the #1927yankeesteam
Mr.Cashman ,do you have versions of talking baseball for the 2005 white Sox & 2016 Cubs?
I love the old black and white pics.all about thaf Yankee tradition baby.
can't not picture the simpsons everytime I hear this
Sweet Lou?? Mentioned?
Nice picture at 2:04
Let’s go Yankees!!!😃
It figures you cut off Donnie. Story of 1994.
well mr burns has done it... oh wait
I’m thinking of that Simpsons episode “Homer At The Bat” lol Matt Groening got the idea from this song.
When you find out that Terry Cashman wrote a version of this song for that episode as well makes it even better.
Yooo wait... I swear he wrote these in the 80s so how did he know about jeter and torre?
28 in 2021
its the play off season
Go Yankees
When your going to a yankee game
When did this song originally come out
I think this version came out in 1996. It desperately needs to be updated.
0:10 anyone else having trouble imagining the Bronx looking like that?
NYCountryBoy since I have lived in the Bronx for 47 years no.
Was Goose Gator or Willie Randolph mentioned??
This where Yankees play in Bronx.
The song rarely mentioned Lou Gehrig! Donnie (Mattingly) could not compare to the best first baseman in major league history!
That wasn’t the point. He called out Mattingly because he never got to win. He left just as they were finally getting good and won!
1:09 was cool. That’s my cousin.
Pretty sad they spend all that money but only have one world series win in the last 23 years.
"Rivera comes in handy..."
Wait, this wasn't originally a Simpson's song?
DONNIE DONNIE DONNIE!!!
Well Yogi Berra had done it, the power plant had won it, with Roger Clemons clucking all the while...
I didnt know this was an actual song until the Simpsons. Gotta say, the Simpsons did it better.
As a good Ol' southern boy the only time I'll root for a Yankee is never!

Reggie Reggie Reggie!!!
yeah I HATE BOSTON POOP SOX HA HA HA HA! YANKEES WILL WIN MOST GAMES!!!!!!
Alicia Gibson yep.
This is a BS Yankee homer ripoff of an amazing celebratory tune
They made one of these for every team, and the same guy wrote each one
How can he rip off himself? Terry Cashman, the same guy who wrote and sang the original, wrote and sang one for each team.
What an absolute buffoon, PAT!
PAT Michelangelo LOSTRACCO How can it be a ripoff when the same guy did both songs? He did one for every team.
Fuck you, clown! The Yankees ARE baseball, don't you forget it!
