    Hi Rabeea, given the fact that the LLM application window opens almost a year before the actual start date for a fall class, and that the NCA assessment is reqd to take the courses accordingly while on an LLM, how could one plan for things if in the final year of LLB at the time of applying to a Canadian law school for an LLM? As I don't have the QLD (as a result of being a final year LLB student) at the time of applying for a seat on the LLM class of the next fall, is there a workaround on applying for an NCA assessment? Thanks!

      It is not necessary to have a Bar license to apply for an NCA assessment. You only need a qualifying law degree.

    • @RabeeaKhalidLawStudyKit
      @RabeeaKhalidLawStudyKit  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for such kind words! The number of exams you need to take will depend on what type of law degree you have. So, If you are from a country with a legal tradition other than common law (e.g. civil law, religious law, etc.), you must obtain common law training or education. In this case, you are likely to get an assessment with 8 or more courses. Lastly, your assessment will vary depending on your background so I won't be able to give you a definite answer. I hope this is helpful and Goodluck if you plan to become a lawyer in Canada!

      Hi! Thank you for reaching out. Everyone's assessment varies depending on different factors so I won't be able to give you a definite answer. However, from my experience, most law graduates who receive their law degree through in-person instruction in an Approved Law School are only asked to take NCA exams. Hope this helps!

    Hello,
    Hope you are doing well.
    Thanks for making such informational videos on youtube. They are really useful.
    Actually, i have been successfully enrolled at York university for the course of Canadian common law. Since , you have gone through the NCA procedure.So, i require a little guidance from you.
    I know you might be very busy with daily livelihood but it would be great help if you could clear some of my doubts, which are whether we can give BAR exam without getting PR?
    Another one is, as i will get one year work permit. So if i get my articleship after 2-3 months then what option would i have to extend my visa or i have to apply for PR immediately after my course. And if you can guide me whether its good option to pursue from York univ.?
    Thank you

    And suggest me a good law University

    • @RabeeaKhalidLawStudyKit
      @RabeeaKhalidLawStudyKit  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi - The tuition fee for an LLM in Toronto ranges from $35,000 to $56,000 (some schools charge additional fees on top of tuition). Please take a look at this for additional costs: nca.legal/costs-and-timelines/. I am in Toronto so I can only speak for Universities here. You can either look at Osgoode Hall Law School or University of Toronto if you wish to fulfill your NCA requirements at a Canadian Law School.

    Thank you so much for this detailed video! Really appreciate your efforts. I am a licensed lawyer in India. My query is that while I understand the whole process, is it all worth in the current scenario? I mean, are there sufficient jobs for lawyers in ON or it may land me in a limbo? This whole process shall require a lot of effort but it's doable, provided I know that there are chances of getting a job. Also, what is the probability of getting a job from / post the Ryerson's LPP? Thank you in advance!

    if i will complete my LL.M degree from Canada,though my LL.B degree was from a different country. Is it necessary to face NCA exam? Or LL.M degree is enough for eligibility of bar admission?

    • @RabeeaKhalidLawStudyKit

      It depends on which type of LLM you complete. There are two different types of LLMs. One that fulfills your NCA requirements and others that are only for specialization.

    Hey. I graduated from University of London in 2018 through it’s distance learning program(in Pakistan) and from the past 2 year I have been practicing as a full time lawyer. Now I have decided to move back to Canada. I was gonna apply for my assessment but due to COVID-19 everything is locked down so I haven’t been able to do that yet.
    So basically my question is when it comes to the NCA exams is the Osgoode LLM(Canadian common law) any good like will I still have to sit for the exams even after doing the LLM program from Osgoode. Is it Possible that after getting my assessment done from NCA instead of sitting for the exams I just go ahead with the LLM program.
    I’ve also heard that the NCA usually asks candidates who have gotten their degree through UOL distance learning program to do 2years of study at a law school in Canada and since you also graduate from University of London can you guide me on this. Is there an option like for UOL candidates to either sit for the exams or just choose a program like that of Osgoode. Or Will I have to do both take the exam for some courses and also be asked to take courses at a law school.
    I will be very thankful to you if you could guide me on all this.

      @RabeeaKhalidLawStudyKit  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! Thank you for reaching out. I am going to try my best to answer your questions.
      1) The LLM will cover all your NCA requirements if you take the courses assigned to you by the NCA.
      2) The NCA can ask you to take courses in class as opposed to just taking the exams if you didn't study in class. If you studied at a University you will have to ask them to send a letter stating that you had completed your law degree by studying in class.
      I hope this is helpful!

      Hi - Your NCA assessment will tell you if you need to take the LLM or you can take NCA courses on your own in India. Once you have fulfilled the NCA requirements you have to fulfill the experiential training component requirement and also take the lawyer licensing exams (Bar exams). Please read this if you'd like a bit more detail on this: www.mcss.gov.on.ca/documents/en/immigration/oi_en_law_cm.pdf
