Three things that will help you stay firm for tauba
    1. Run away from the place you used to commit that sin at. Or switch that place with the time you used to commit that sin in.
    2. Stay suspicious of yourself.
You have to assume that , that sin is within you so that you don't fall.
    3. You have to busy yourself with something that will occupy you. That will go against it. Anytime you remember the sin, feel remorse for it.

SubhanAllah each class gets better and better. Alihamdullah I stumbled on to this class by “accident. But of course, there is no such thing as accident. This was Allah (swt) plan, Alihamdullah! I’m binge watching. I got a new “addiction” 😊 😉

This is my note from this class:
    Hurdle of Tawbah
Tawbah is repentance but in Islam, it is more than repentance, it is a state of heart, whereby a person is constantly realizing the flaws that they have before God and constantly readdressing those in trying to become better.
There are 2 reasons why you need to do Tawbah.
The first one is, that you won’t be able to do righteous deeds when you are carrying the burden of all the sins on you. The curse of sin deprives you of stuff. The shackles of your sins stop you from walking towards worship. Those sins are holding you back. You won’t find enjoyment in the worship of Allah. The moment you move away from your sins, you get the real taste of Ibadah, it’s addictive.
How do you know the evil consequences of your sins? It makes you do the next sin. The sin pulls you to the next one, then the next one, then the next one. And how do you know your righteous deed was accepted? It pulls you towards another good deed.
How is this tongue will be suitable for remembering Allah when all you do with it is lie.
The second reason is, for your other actions to be accepted. Someone who owes you money, you don’t take Hadiya from him. You need to wipe your sins off by doing Tawbah for your other good deeds to be accepted. Imam Ghazali advised us to stop trying to do so much, and just to cut our sins, then a little good deed will fill our life with Baraka. Later the Scholars advised us to do so many good deeds that we have no time to do bad deeds.
Tawbah is the movement of the heart. Our sins are stuck in our hearts. It puts a black mark on our hearts. Tawbah clears that mark completely.
If you want to make Tawbah there are 3 things that you’re going to have to do.
    1. Run away from the place where you used to do the sin. If you can’t avoid the place then switch the time when the sin would normally happen.
    2. You have to assume that the sin is still within you so that you can stay away from that. Stay always on guard. Stay aware, stay suss of yourself. Don’t slip.
    3. You have to busy yourself with something that fights that sin.
There are 3 things that have to come right before Tawbah in order for you to do it.
    1. Truly think about how ugly, how horrible this sin actually is. Imagine the shame if people close to you knew that.
    2. Think about how many blessings Allah has given you.
    3. Remember the severity of Allah’s punishment for that sin and how weak you are.
Advice on how to get rid of your sin.
    1. Next time you want to sin, don’t eat Allah’s Rizq,
    2. Next time you want to sin, don’t do it in Allah’s land,
    3. Next time you want to sin, find a place where He can’t watch you,
    4. You can sin but when the angel of Death comes, tell him to wait for a few minutes,
    5. When the angel of Hell comes and pulls you to Jahannam, fend him off.
When it comes to Tawbah, remember it’s between you and Allah, ignore the people. Choose your path, choose your path, and move forward. Even if you fall back into sin, by doing Tawbah you already removed your past sins. Don’t let the fear of falling back stop you from doing Tawbah. Allah loves the people who keep coming back to Him.

You mentioned that a sin was preventing you from tahajjud - did you realise what that sin was? Or make tawbah not knowing what it is?
I have tried this not knowing what the sin is and seeking forgiveness, but I still struggle to get back to it. I don't know what I'm not doing right or what I can do? More consistency in tawbah before bed?

Ask Allah to help you find out what it is your doing that’s preventing you from ibadah. I hope that helps. May Allah bless you 💗
