Hurdles: Knowledge Tawbah Dunya Isolation from people that don’t want good for you Take out of your heart the love of people that don’t want to help you progress on this journey
This is my note from this class: Hurdle of other people. After passing the hurdle of Duniya, you’ll have to isolate yourself from people, you have to choose solitude from other people, secluding yourself from anyone that’s not helping you on the journey to Allah. There are 2 reasons why you need to isolate yourself from people. 1. People are going to keep you busy from the worship of Allah. You are on the pathway to Jannah and you started to worship Allah but people will hold you back. People are going to keep you busy from worshiping, sometimes people will get in the way of you, and people might lead you to evil. You can’t free yourself from worship until you free yourself from concern about what other people think. 2. Whatever Ibadah you do, they will mess it up. Because you will start to do actions because they see it. One of the things that will heal your heart is to breathe the same air as righteous people. But there are 2 conditions when it comes to spending time with other believers: 1. Don’t do it too much. Those people are there to help you through your journey, they are not the objective. 2. It should be Allah centric relationship. You should love them for the sake of Allah and the time you spend with them should be God-centric. Anyone who doesn’t want you to become a better believer, you are better off without them. Because not only are they stopping you, but they are also negatively influencing you. If you have benefits to bring to people you have to be with the people, they have a right from you. But remember this, you have to have patience, you have to be forbearance, and you have to constantly seek the help of Allah. Be such that when people come talk to you, you talk with them, when they need your help, you help them, when people need you, you are there, when they visit you, you honor them. But when they are not talking with you or they turn away, do your own thing, don’t chase after them. When people are doing good, you help them. When they go to useless talk, you distance yourself. You have to live in this time but don’t follow people of this time.
