These were my favorite action figures as a kid and Mego really did great with these and their bigger ones by actually having Marvel and DC in scale for crossover battles. But even though we did mind at the time, the cards could've been so much more appealing if they'd gone the Star Wars route and used live action photos of everyone Linda Carter's Wonder Woman and Chris Reeve Superman to Ferignos Hulk and Nicholas Hammomd's TV Spider-Man.
I had hours and hours of fun with my Spider-Man pocket hero. He had a small hole in his right fist for a string so I could make him swing from his web on my grandparent's balcony and deck. Thanks for the memories again Junkman.
I remember the red cards with jor el and zod being pegwarmers. They were still at Osco's hanging around when I was collecting Robotech figures in 85 or 86.
Making post BEFORE watching video. THESE mego small figures are the most underrated toyline of ALL-TIME in my opinion, it was so awesome as a kid to be able to use comic book heroes in same scale as star wars. Okay now im going to watch video to see if we agree, Junkman.
Ok now I've watched the video, interesting how much we disagree on this line. Personally, I owned the Batmobile and the Spiderman Mobile and the figures with those then also had Superman. I never saw the white card or denim cards when I was a kid. This video is first time I ever saw those cards. Also, Junkman the spiderman "utility belt" is one of those twist-ties like you used to get with a loaf of bread, and it was to hold the figure in place. Lastly one funny thing about the Batman figure was he was soft plastic and his head was attached to his cap and would pop on and off. haha
I had the Fortrice of Solitude, but it was The Comic Action figures. It was basically the Hall of Justice and grey not white. It came with Superman and Penguin haha.. I think that's white twist tie around that Spidermans waste 🤔
I didn't have any of these, but I seem to recall seeing a Superman one time. I specifically remember a Star Wars sized figure with the molded plastic cape.
The grey one was from the older line. It came with Superman and Penguin. It had nice artwork on the box with a scene of Penguin blowing up the outside was with the TNT plunger thing 😊
The limbs popping off was a real problem. Back then,l can remember was seeing about 8 on a peg,and 3 of them had either 1 or 2 limbs popped off. Never even saw the vehicles or playsets on shelves up here.
those marvel ones look neat, i don't think i had any of those, i got the super powers line in the 1980s which basically looks like those dc ones, that batcave is really cool, if you want a playset for the fortress of solitude, i found an empire strikes back playset that is basically an ice fortress with guns that could double for superman's secret base
i had nearly all the justice leauge(more of a DC guy as a youngster ),made a cardboard Hall of justice, and my 4 Marvel guys would stare with contempt...plotting.Daredevil didnt care,he just went in the hall like he owned it.Lucky for them there wasnt a Deadpool around back then.Hell, he woulda TOOK the hall,re-named it,and paint it red !...oh ,sorry, never mind, that was another badass.Later Jman, thanks.
I think that Superman playset with the bridge is the same as the Batman Exploding Bridge playset from the earlier line. I got the Batman set for Christmas one year along with the Batmobile which included Batman and Robin and the Joker, who I think came with the playset.
Thank you for covering this line. They were very cheap and lacked a lot of details we are accustom to now. Symbols were given only one paint ap and Robin didn't even get sleeves. I had Batman, Robin, and Superman. Batman was the best because his head and cape were made out of rubber as one piece. Superman and Robin had hard plastic capes with very brittle tabs that broke very easily. And Robin's arm broke off at the shoulder. I am sure that's why I only got the three. I was very big into Star Wars by the time they came out and they just didn't measure up. I think if they had just made them a bit better they might have lasted longer. Excellent video Junkman, And thank you so much for sharing this.
great video! you should do more Mego videos. I've been a huge fan of the Mego toy line since I discovered toys or forever. Eagle Force 2 3/4" figures were cool.
The Fortress of Solitude and the other one WERE available! I had them! The red thing was spring operated and was put under the green tower, or the bridge and would "blow them up"! So yes, these were made.
Well, I think it released from the comic action heroes. Or the bent leg figures as we called them. It was gray not white and came with Superman. I had it for years..
I had these, the gel rel one lasted forever. The only thing that was a problem was the paint came off I passed mine down to my brother and he passed them to my cousin.
Comic Action Heroes by Mego were made in 1975, before Star Wars and are the same as Pocket Heroes but with different legs. I think they just altered them in 79 to give them a similar look to Star Wars figures. Good job on the video as always, but would have liked a mention of the Comic Action Heroes.
I had the superman and the Hulk figures. They didn't come on cardbacks though but polythene sealy bags brand new in the 70's. I think they must have been repackaged from fire or water damage in the ware house and were discount prices as a result.
That's a plastic tie holding Spider-Man to the box not a white utility belt! I had a hulk figure very similar to the mego pocket hulk, but it didnt have articulated legs. I wonder what toy line it was from? Great video!
I sure there was a similar range back in the 70s . Same upper bodies but with bent knees if I remember right . If anyone can shed some light on the subject I'd be very grateful
I think I must have seen a few of these at a local comic store. There were two or three marvel characters , inc Hulk and Goblin, smaller than regular size and at least $10. I asked about them, but the clerk clearly didn't know. That's saying something, as there was another time when an employee at the same store knew what I meant when I asked for a Barnyard Commando.
I kinda remember these a little since I was really into comic books back then well much like now, do you remember the gums that came out around '78/'79 they had the Hulk, Spiderman, Captain America, the Fantastic Four
Paul B yeah it is.gave me an idea.make a figure look like this spiderman.it looked like the spiderman from the 1970s tv series.give him his silver utility belt and silver web spinner bracelets.that would be bad ass in this size and 8 inch cloth outfit mego style
Lets see...... we got an Alanis morrisette joke, then a Georgia satellites joke (my favorite 80’s band), and finally a spin doctors joke. Vintage music and vintage action figures...... what’s better?
I vaguely -- VAGUELY remember seeing these figures in my local Woolworths packaged in blue and white windowed boxes rather than on cards around 82-83. Anyone else recall this?
i had spiderman and superman.supermans s was raised lettering.the red paint chipped off and painted it in with my moms nail polish.i was 3 or 4.lol.supermans face looked like family feuds richard dawson
He actually gave it to me for about a few weeks Then he said he wanted it back I should have said no But he did give me a repainted Hoth Leia later on As I didn't have any Princess Leia figures at the time.
I have a little hero in my pocket. I have a little spidey in my pocket. I have a super man in my pocket. I always keep wondering woman by my little Spider-Man, (or super man)in my pocket. The jokes just write themselves. Anyone else that comes by this comment tell me your bet “pocket hero “joke
I got Aquaman and Superman. Aquaman is a great figure easily the best of all of these. The Spiderman sucked, look at him. In the 70's they had bent knee ones of these. I had Hulk but lost him.
Cool vid. I never saw this as a kid. I mostly bought the 8 inch and 12 inch Mego action figures. Seeing as how cheaply made they were I'm kind of glad now.
The Fortress of Solitude looks more like the Hall of Justice. Superman doesn't need a bunch of chairs in the Fortress of Solitude. He's the only one who's ever there, after all.
What would be cool is a Junkman Mego Pocket Super Heroes figure on white card! Better yet, how about a Stretch Junkman! Or how about a MOC Junkman in Carbonite!? Now these would justify Ebay prices. There's a white card Pocket Superman on Ebay right now for $450 OBO. Geez. It's cool but not THAT cool.
Really good video! I like the fact that you are keeping it fresh. I can't say I had any of these. The figures looked lame, but man, the playsets looked nice! Who wouldn't want the Batcave?? Top notch stuff Junkman!!
Kenner totally changed the Toy Industry overnight! Great vid mate but who knows why Mego thought making cheaper plastic versions of their 12 inch Super Heroes would get the success of Kenner Star Wars.

JT Rogue me too.he swung all over the place at my house
The Superman earthquake set is just a clone of the Batmobile exploding bridge that Mego put out a few yrs earlier for the comic action heroes line.
I remember the red cards with jor el and zod being pegwarmers. They were still at Osco's hanging around when I was collecting Robotech figures in 85 or 86.
I had several of these back in the day and I remember them fondly. Great video! 😊

Good point about the size scale with Star Wars... And G.I. Joe!
Loved this line. I had Spider-man, Batman, Superman, Robin, Joker, Penguin, and the Exploding Bridge.
I had the Fortrice of Solitude, but it was The Comic Action figures. It was basically the Hall of Justice and grey not white. It came with Superman and Penguin haha..

I didn't have any of these, but I seem to recall seeing a Superman one time. I specifically remember a Star Wars sized figure with the molded plastic cape.
Jawas were frequently in my pocket, but yeah, i had the batman and had fun removing his rubbery head/cape
The Fortress of Solitude was recolored and released as the Hall of Justice...I still have it
The grey one was from the older line. It came with Superman and Penguin. It had nice artwork on the box with a scene of Penguin blowing up the outside was with the TNT plunger thing 😊
I had the Batmobile with Batman and Robin, Superman, Hulk, & Green Goblin. The first 3 were my facorites
Ha! I spotted Yoda with his he man figure! (Intro). ; )
Brad Brown things are scarce on dagobah.yoda treasures that he man.keeps him company.lol.thatd be a funny blooper for lucas film.
@@wnerko7484 Mmmmm. Like ripped mystery man in speedo Yoda does. Collectibles rare on Dagobah. Bring him everywhere I do.
The Spiderman doesn't have a white utility belt. That's just the twisty tie to hold it onto the cardboard backing.
I'd wager the white band around Spider-Man's waist in the Spider-Mobile was just a band to hold the figure in place.
There was two kinds of these figures. Some had straight legs while some had hunched legs à la He-man.
The hunched version you are referring to were the mego Comic Action Heroes the Pocket Heroes'predecessors.
I had both kinds. The bent legs were a harder plastic
Micronauts were the first to do 3.75" since they started earlier in Japan as Microman
Great video thank you for sharing, I really enjoyed these action figures when I was a kid, nice to look at them again, thank you
The limbs popping off was a real problem. Back then,l can remember was seeing about 8 on a peg,and 3 of them had either 1 or 2 limbs popped off. Never even saw the vehicles or playsets on shelves up here.
that’s not a Superman in my pocket it’s a junk man in my pocket
those marvel ones look neat, i don't think i had any of those, i got the super powers line in the 1980s which basically looks like those dc ones, that batcave is really cool, if you want a playset for the fortress of solitude, i found an empire strikes back playset that is basically an ice fortress with guns that could double for superman's secret base

I think I remember the red carded figures but never had any of them.
That's proper figure mining to find those !
I only remember the denim card. The Spider-Man figure was pretty easy to get but I could never find any of the other figures.
Can you imagine if hasbro remastered pockets superhero action figures just like they did too the retro Star Wars figures
Thank you for covering this line. They were very cheap and lacked a lot of details we are accustom to now. Symbols were given only one paint ap and Robin didn't even get sleeves. Dang I remember getting some eagle force figs at Kay bees. The gold paint rubbed off. Shoot now I remember Metal Man.
arctrooper999 yea Megos quality control wasn't all that. I've got a grey skinned Mr. fantastic somewhere lol.
Wanted these as a kid so bad to go with my Joe's and Star Wars figs. Secret Wars was an amazing line also. Great video, ty!!!
I had them all except Green Goblin and Capt. America. I didn't have a problem with them breaking but the problem was with the pain fading.
The Fortress of Solitude and the other one WERE available! I had them! The red thing was spring operated and was put under the green tower, or the bridge and would "blow them up"! So yes, these were made.

8:12, "...it comes with a dinner table...!"
I love this channel! :)
Ohhh my gawd dude i had the spiderman pocket one thanks for jogging a lost memory!.
Comic Action Heroes by Mego were made in 1975, before Star Wars and are the same as Pocket Heroes but with different legs. I did mention it at the start ;)
@@ThatJunkman haha just re watched it. i must have blacked out during that part. i thought it was odd they weren't mentioned. keep up the good work.
I had the superman and the Hulk figures. They didn't come on cardbacks though but polythene sealy bags brand new in the 70's. I think they must have been repackaged from fire or water damage in the ware house and were discount prices as a result.
Thank you for posting this That Junkman. 😀
I only had spiderman. Only superhero figure I ever owned.
I had the green goblin figure but my mother’s dog chewed it up when I was 10, by that time MEGO was out of business.
NO junkman thats a gesh'talt in my pocket😂😂😂
Thanks for all your hard work! These videos are real fun to watch!
That's a plastic tie holding Spider-Man to the box not a white utility belt! I had a hulk figure very similar to the mego pocket hulk, but it didnt have articulated legs. I wonder what toy line it was from? Great video!
Remember these, never had one. Always had the bigger Mego dolls.
Pretty cool find, Junkman. Keep em coming!
Spiderman didn't have a white utility belt. That was just wire holding the figure in place lol
I play with it all the time Mr junk man
I sure there was a similar range back in the 70s . Same upper bodies but with bent knees if I remember right . If anyone can shed some light on the subject I'd be very grateful
My first ever action figure...ever when I was about 4 🎂
I don't get why they didn't do a superman figure line, it wouldve been awsome!!
I wish I could find one of these at a yard sale or the flea market
I think I must have seen a few of these at a local comic store. There were two or three marvel characters , inc Hulk and Goblin, smaller than regular size and at least $10. I asked about them, but the clerk clearly didn't know. That's saying something, as there was another time when an employee at the same store knew what I meant when I asked for a Barnyard Commando.
Is that a rancor in your pocket 😳 or are you just happy to see me?!?!?!?
😆
Actually I think the Rancor 💩 is hiding in the back of your pants. NOT COOL JM NOT COOL🤢
LOL😁😂🤣😆
I remember playing with them. Maybe they will make a retro line soon
I remember them, but never had any.
I kinda remember these a little since I was really into comic books back then well much like now, do you remember the gums that came out around '78/'79 they had the Hulk, Spiderman, Captain America, the Fantastic Four
Psst That Junkman
That's not a belt on Spiderman
That's a tie , holding him in place
Paul B yeah it is.gave me an idea.make a figure look like this spiderman.it looked like the spiderman from the 1970s tv series.give him his silver utility belt and silver web spinner bracelets.that would be bad ass in this size and 8 inch cloth outfit mego style
Graphic audio is the only other group to hold marvel and DC comics license. That I know of .
Lets see...... we got an Alanis morrisette joke, then a Georgia satellites joke (my favorite 80’s band), and finally a spin doctors joke. Vintage music and vintage action figures...... what’s better?
You got them all. And a pac man fever joke was cut :(
I don't think that's a white utility belt on spiderman looks like a bread tie to hold him onto the cardboard backing
What are the 4 superman guys worth still on card?
Is that Spiderman in your pocket...or just weird
I vaguely -- VAGUELY remember seeing these figures in my local Woolworths packaged in blue and white windowed boxes rather than on cards around 82-83.
Anyone else recall this?
Glad u got to make a video for tonight!
There’s a hole in my pocket...
i had spiderman and superman.supermans s was raised lettering.the red paint chipped off and painted it in with my moms nail polish.i was 3 or 4.lol.supermans face looked like family feuds richard dawson
Been listening for a while and I just subbed buddy keep it up 👍
I had an idea this going to be your new video. Thanks JM
I remember seeing these in the stores on the red cards. I have never owned any of these figures.
My brother and I had all of these. All broke except for ger el and that won lasted for about ten years till the dog chewed it up
That’s was a white twist tie around Spider-Man
Well done! Hey, where are you from? You sound like you could live right down the road from me in Mississippi. 😃
GA
This'is awesome and amazing and incredible
Do you remember them monster in my pockets toy line
Comic Action Heroes were the best!!!!
They did release those playsets though with the Comic Action Hero line.
I remember these
Toywonder is the boy wonders name😞
How big are these?
These figures can't kneel 🤣
The DC figures kinda look like the Super Powers figures
Smaller and not as good detailed
do you have a new cam or phone because it looks AMAZING and great video and the heroes they look bad
I moved the lights some. Maybe that’s it :)
White “wire tie”spidey utility belt...C’mon JM are you new at this ?
You watch me a lot. You should know better ;)
These were awesome back in the day, didnt hey also do a flash Gordon line?
I put Gijoes in my pocket
My cousin had that Spiderman figure
He actually gave it to me for about a few weeks
Then he said he wanted it back
I should have said no
But he did give me a repainted Hoth Leia later on
As I didn't have any Princess Leia figures at the time.

I would have my Star Wars Darth Vader choke them all out!!!!!

Little smaller.
The Fortress of Solitude looks more like the Hall of Justice. Superman doesn't need a bunch of chairs in the Fortress of Solitude. He's the only one who's ever there, after all.

Really good video!

Top notch stuff Junkman!!
No mention of the mastubation pose of Batman and Robin? Why were their arms posed like that?
And suddenly.., the phrase _I got the man of steel in my pocket, do you wat to play with him_ became legit to say 😂
Kenner totally changed the Toy Industry overnight!
Great vid mate but who knows why Mego thought making cheaper plastic versions of their 12 inch Super Heroes would get the success of Kenner Star Wars.
The white cardbacks were the best looking...💯✔
🤔...I think I might've just triggered an "SJW" by saying that...🤪
Agree
I'm part Meskin and I'm okay with white card backs. And some white people. SOME, not all. lol
For the most part those figures look awful. Think the Hulk looks the best. This is the first time I've heard of these though.
Robin is the shittiest character ever Junkman, what do you think?
