Joe, not a comment about the video, although excellent as always. I just wanted to mention the fundraiser you set up for the lady involved in the recent hit and run. At the time of writing I see that despite a target of a very generous £250, more £4,000 has been donated! In this day and age of increasing costs, prices, taxes as well as all the other nonsense that's happening in the world it's heartening to see people like you and all those who generously gave to help someone in need. Proof that not all heroes wear capes. Some wear Shifting Metal hoodies, T-shirts and beanies. Keep up the good work!
That’s really kind! I’m blown away and can’t wait to let Liz and Matt know! It’s all down to the subscribers and they’ve really done me so proud!
@@ShiftingMetalwill you post there reaction on your instagram or a yt short
@@J4CK574 maybe, I will see what we can do
@@ShiftingMetal it would be nice seeing there reaction to over £4,000 as it’s going to some awesome people who are going through a rough time atm wish them all well
Broken up pelvis is nothing to celebrate, leave them alone.
The production of your videos is top notch, the intro music, everything. I have no idea how you keep all the balls in the air...... Appreciate you taking us along for the ride ! The reaction to your fundraiser says all you need to know about how the majority of viewers perceive you and your team....Well done.
Hi joe
Glad to see you’re cracking the whip when the whip needs to be cracked
Respect 👍
Great to see you making changes for your business to address areas of waste. Dead wood needs cutting adrift buddy. You can't run a successful business without making tough decisions.
Superb content as always! Joe - your branding is superb for the company, all looks very slick outside and well prevented. You need to get all of your lads some nice workwear branded up the same and for them to wear it!
Well done on the gofundme for the injured lady. Kindest regards and Hey Ho 🇨🇦🇨🇦
Cracking podcast as usual Joe fair play for sorting the go fund me for the woman who was badly hurt in the golf now just over 4k excellent
episode 25 of bm weekly , i have been under a rock for the other 24, now i have to catch up on the missed ones loved it
Enjoyed that keep up the good work ignore the Keyboard experts most of them couldn't run down the street never mind run a car dealership
Never a truer word! 👊
Nice to see a tyre change without the rim edge being mashed 🙂
Nice work on tyre total care for the wheel
great again Joe don't listen to the negative comments
your honestly pays off sure your own decision will be works best for your company not people who haven't most likely not been in the business
drastic changes better results
gutted this wasn't an hour though
Why does Jason, your main salesman, always dress like he is about to take a dog for a walk across a muddy field? Surely he has some respect for how he looks when in a professional business role dealing with large amounts of money etc?
Yes scruffy bastard
Joe, it was a good decision to stop the servicing and develop a better class of vehicle sales. On the go fund me, its great news for the family on the amount collected so far. I donated because why should they be out of pocket because of some crack heads.
Happy Belated Birthday Joe. Great video and content. Good to see people have donated to the fundraiser, you have some great subscribers here. Looking forward to part 2 with chops. Hopefully more collabs in the future with other TH-cam car dealers/people who love cars.
Just a slight worry here
Streams of income right now are what you need.
Closing off workshop income is a bit drastic in these uncertain times.
Absolute market crash is coming and car sales will be like 2007 it was dead for a year or more .
I personally think car sales is a bad place to be right now
More quality viewing fella😁,little bit misleading thumbnail though😂,saw last week about possibly not doing the mot/servicing thing but it read as if you’d had enough ,glad to see that’s not the case, keep them coming, brilliant watching 👍
Always look forward to these vids, best part of the week 😮😂
Thanks Claire! ❤️
That's some EPIC BOARD FITTING there Joe!!!
Thank you, you're obviously a man who has an eye for quality craftsmanship! 😂
Just donated, not a lot by any means, but I guess it all helps.
Don't think that a 'thank you or reaction' video is really needed at the moment Joe.
Maybe a quick update down the line would be good just to know how they are getting on?
There are times that folks simply need space to be left alone to cope with what lies ahead.
I will probably receive thumbs down from the keyboard warriors for posting this comment, but that is their problem, not mine.
I think you need a nice clean separate hand over/ client room. I could imagine some people walking into your garage feeling intimidated by all the staff you have floating around especially Female customers.
I agree
@@ShiftingMetal I don't see a customer reception area anywhere in the business. Do they just come into the general office to discuss purchases? You really need a dedicated space for customer interaction to make the whole experience more professional.
Ok, I’ll just wish one up. Thanks for all the help 🙄
I think it’s a nicety but people come to you for your integrity not a posh reception area. They can see the honesty
Quality, honest no holes barred.. Nice one.
Westbury car auctions, got to love them
It would be good to have a walk around of the lot to see what’s sold ☮️
A pinch citric acid good for cleaning kettles.
Great video as always, interesring to see which other youtubers you get
Brilliant Video, i love theses on a saturday night it my new tea time routine, i watch them while i upload a new video on a Saturday, where can i see what trade cars you have for sale
Saturday night sorted….gladiators and shifting metal…used to be gladiators and night on the town when I was younger
seeing bca auction sites in the vids brings a warm feeling!
Best TH-cam video… reminds me of series 1 of The Office 😂
😂 Hear that a lot!
QUESTION: is the amount of warranty claims due to the quality of the car bought or just a random “these things happen” thing?
I’d say quality is generally improving. It’s just a run of bad luck, it happens
Thanks for the reply.
Good to see James from CG! 👍
I don’t know whether to write this or not. You clearly want to keep improving the business so I hope it’s helpful. My feeling if I came to BM would be that the office looks scruffy and cluttered. More like a workshop office than a car sales office. E.g. the engine ontop of a cupboard, a load of old number plates on the wall, the desks are old/messy.
Ps. I’ve actually got a couple of spare clean white desks and grey office chairs from my office in Poole. You can have them for no charge if you would like?
i thought a vehicles sales and then a fixed priced servicing schedule would have been a good business model
smoking in the work place not allowed looks very back street
Didn’t know he was, I will be having words.
Great content. Love the weekly’s. Thanks again. Ignore the keyboard warriors in the comments. Absolute tools
Hi Joe. Great Weekly Video. Nothing Bad has happened lol, which is good news. Congrats on Selling the BMW Z4. The Video you put out about it Not Selling must have done the Job because it's gone. I hope you made afew Quid with it. Joe how much is that Red Fiat 500 Abarth. Lovely Car. Anyway Chat Soon. 👏👏😅🇨🇮
P.S Carwow does not Operate in Ireland Joe. I sent them an Email too Verify it. Thanks
Great video Joe, I am Gushing
😂😂
“Would love to see a high peak autos, Berrow motors crossover challenge, where you have a budget for an auction car and see who makes the most profit” …change “ high peak “ to “chops” ( who has a great channel also ) from this comment 2 months ago and il take some credit 😂
Do you have collaboration with Car Uk and Lee in the pipeline. 2 legend youtube channels together. Do hope so.
No but I should do!
Thank you for the video
Is Gervais working for you ?
I’d have fired a few by now. Staff must be scarse
Is it the poor quality of checking the cars by the auction staff that let the faults through?
I just pick my jobs, you don't want to be bogged down on a big job, but a simple service on a little petrol car is profitable and easy, keeps in with your customers as well, tbh turn people away at your peril, but service, brakes, tre stuff like that is OK, just maybe say we don't get involved in big jobs, I've always sold cars but sometimes your loosing now and it's hard work, where a simple job is a good wage.
Belated birthday wishes Joe, be honest how much of that lovely looking cake did you give away😂 It looked amazing.!
Just the one slice for me, trying to shift some weight!
It comes across that Josh didn't really have much drive to be busy.Dont know if that's accurate
So are you getting rid of the service for mechanical work to public and just focus on doing your own stock or getting rid all together?
Personally i understand the not doing public but to enable better profit etc surely you still need your own in house mechanics for your own stock rather than outsource and have to work around others priority list and there own costs.
May have wrong end of stick but great insight and enjoy the real behind the scences as most people have an image of all car dealers being either delboys selling cut and shuts or slick smarmy sales reps eager for there bonus so its refresing with you and chops you show there are genuine fair dealers who arent going to have you over however are making good consistant profit with returning trade.
I personally love having a repeat customer as it shows im doing somthing right. Take a pound a day for life or 10 pound for a one off deal you get my view.
Regarding the young lad you were talking about managing workloads efficently maybe he needs your blueprint of the right way of working as he seems he just needs some guidance blueprints of the right way of working i.e the way you want the buisness to work can then be transfered across the business so everyone is on the same page just an idea worked many a time for me when i also explain the vision and what i expect my staff and business to project to clients as its all in the blueprints of the way we work 😉
All the best keep going
Still look forward to those videos. Honest question do you think with all other stuff you do ie videos makes you get easily wound with the normal mundane garage stuff??
Wound up? I think having done all the jobs myself and now dedicating my time to admin and marketing means I get wound up if the other jobs aren't getting done how I'd like to do them myself 🤷♂️
@@ShiftingMetal sorry that came across wrong. What i mean is you defo have a skill for the videos and podcasts. Does it annoy you that you still have to do things like arranging the transport when you have staff that should do it.
On occasion yes, I may be happier to do it all myself again 🤷♂️
Absolotley the right decision making that glass fronted area into a showroom, but i hope you are going to make it a bit smarter! On the subject of tidying up... the forecourt looks proper shabby, that canopy is long overdue a makeover... getting rid of the moss would be a start... those AA banners are passed their best too. The gaff needs to look fitting of a "no shit cars" establishment 😉im not taking the piss or having a go ...just constructive criticism from a casual observer
Yes in an ideal situation but in reality, it's easy to spend all your profits on maintaining someone else's building
Yes indeed, first impressions when meeting people or businesses. Getting the first impression positive+ is important.
Top weekly video joe as always
Great vlogs, guys, you too soft Joe, if they late too many times stop there pay for time not there.....
Gushing !!!!!! 😂
I did a Vehicle Score on a old 300 thousand mile Mercedes I used to own. It was less than a 100 😂
😂
your are running a business - sloppyness and a lack of discipline leads to mediocre business performance and potentially sets the business up for failure in the future - only the paranoid survive . Meant as constructive feebback 😉
How can there be any more vids if yer shutting shop ???
Just the workshop Jules
Very good as always
fab
Did you manage to sort the meriva my car has exact same issue
Not yet, I think it needs a door lock
Sorry but the sound seems poor today,
Persevere. I think it gets better
It's an interesting way of telling your staff what you want when you don't even work in that area and then your staff kick off. Maybe you should consult them before you start changing things. As you said last night I had an epiphany and I want this change and I want that changed when you don't even work in there. Maybe you should ask them so you can come to compromise because they're the ones that work in there telling your staff I don't care that's the way is happening. It's giving I pay your wages so you will do as I say or they will be consequences. Something along those lines. It's very workman old school way of treating your staff.
I see your point but you don’t work in this business and maybe you’ve never been an employer. You certainly don’t see the push back I get with all sorts of things, if I agreed to everything staff want it would 8 hours of non stop tea and smoke breaks..
yeah I get what you mean with if you agree to everything your staff says then there would be brakes all the time however, buses always say that if they listen to every demand of their staff, they will want such outlandish demands. They would not be a fair compromise, but that's not realistic. And staff don't ask for those kind of things like breaks all the time. Those aren't realistic things and even when I worked in university with over 10,000 staff, people don't ask for those kind of demands so that's a bit silly. However, maybe it's the way you talk all the time that you're saying in comes across a bit. Defensive along those lines and a little bit I'm in the boss you do is your told. But with everything there's always time for healthy discussion because your staff may have a good opinion about something rather than you telling them yours and then not having their say but I'm only commenting on what is edited and seen in the video, so I'll probably don't have full context of the situation because of the way of the edit.
Joe, keep doing it your way. It's your business, your money and your time. If others have an issue, let em go and take the risk themselves.
@@timebandit125 unfortunately staff have to understand who is in charge and respect their decisions. Joe has come across so often as being far too much of a pushover, so has to stand up for the way he wants to run HIS business, he makes business decisions that are critical to the future of the business and all the jobs that rely on it - no profit, no jobs.
@timebandit, ever been a union rep 😉
Can't beat a good click bait
I am closing the workshop though 🤷♂️
@ShiftingMetal well its technically true nobody is gonna sue you.
Chops, top bloke.
You didn't make a wish.
I reckon you would need to make about £5 grand a week to break even. Must be difficult in the current climate. 🤔🤔
More than that!
I knew a guy working from his lockup and doing great. He moved into a unit and found it easier but made far less money. @@ShiftingMetal
Calimari earrings lol
👌👌
What is the story behind the Jersey 🇯🇪 flag on your hat?
I sponsor a racing driver ‘Jack Butel’ who lives in Jersey 👍
You seem to have a lot of staff I would not want your wages bill ,
I don’t want it either but that’s not how bills work sadly 😂
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Love your videos and your work ethic BUT I am sorry to say I think that Vehicle Score is rubbish!! You only get what you pay for and Car Vertical is the best in my opinion. (I did work in the motor trade for nearly 20 years)
Fair enough. I like them
I love watching your videos but I have noticed you have quite a lot of Diesel cars in your stock . People don't want diesel cars so much anymore they sound like old tractors lol they cost a fortune to repair if anything goes wrong.
Gone are the days when dirty diesels are more reliable . I just think that a posh nice looking Merc or BMW should not sound like an old massy Ferguson.
Stick to petrol I am sure you would sell more cars 😉 .
Maybe but we do well with diesels!
All it's needs is it to go quiet on demonising diesels for a few weeks and everyone is back on them, fact is there cheaper to run for the average person.
Not the 730d I have very refined and quiet and will do 50mpg on a run
@@robskiing yes I'm running a 1.6 A1, 58 mpg average, my sons petrol bmw is at 32 mpg
This is starting to be clickbait.
Well I have closed the workshop so, is it 🤷♂️
Looks very back street garage style not a place i would buy a £5k plus car from mechanics un uniformed no safety work wear sales no shirt tie presentation lacks way off if you walked in wouldny no whos in charge if car sales is going to be ur main source needs to up your game tbh
I TOTALLY WOULD buy a car from them because they act with integrity post-sale, honouring warranties, even taking back the really problematic cars. This is worth 10x more to most punters than appearances.
New uniform arrived this week. Maybe we’ll go from selling 25 £5000+ cars a month to 60 now? And for the record, have you seen most second hand car dealerships? They’re a portacabin in a carpark…
Have you seen the places that sell 5k cars? That sites fine for cars up to 20k
Nothing is perfect from day one, sounds like @ShiftingMetal has a plan to improve. It always helps to have a growth mindset and constantly strive for improvement. Remember, Rome wasn't built in a day and neither will your business be.
Christ there's a lot of whinging in the comment's. Top vid Joe, always enjoy the weekly's.
Nice to see your breaking the law and letting people smoke in the workplace,
Great vid as always, look forward to cheap car challenge result v chops. 🚙 Vrooooom
