£500 for one key and that is with them looking after you!! Crazy times we live in.
As a retired Cop this has been seized under Proceeds of Crime due to the previous owner not having the legal collateral to have paid for it legally therefore a Judge seized it. Same with super priced watches etc etc. In other words they made money illegally ( drugs or whatever). Nice buy 👍
The judge didn’t seize it.
Coppers, the last people to know anything about laws.
@@cypeman8037 This is done through the Crown Court. A confiscation order is issued by a judge until the court determines the benefit to the defendant through offending.
What the poster is saying is that the defendant didn't have the means (legally) to purchase the car, therefore it was a proceed obtained through criminal activity
Quality intel.
Think it belonged to Wonnie Pickewing
@@bigstones5710 "Who the fuck's that" 😂
Crazy that you had that messing around at the Mercedes dealer. They could have realised that the car wasn't mobile as you were buying a key because you didn't have one and were bringing it on the back of a lorry.
I think that the simple grille with horizontal bars looks much better than the swirly 'chrome dot' types that MB have been using on some recent models.
When I worked for Mercedes the keys came pre programed, plug and play. The fact they 'programed' the key without connecting the battery is weird. I may be old but sure I'm right.
They did connect it ?
Electric Parking brake on a Volvo you could release with a 9v PP3 via connection in the boot.
Who says it’s too cheep it is what it is no warranty given or implied
They aren’t thieves they do what they do and do it well.
I tell you what you go buy the car and give an extra 2k drink.
These boys work hard for their money and are honest as the day is long.
Fair price for that car
Good work rob and Chris
Keep up the great work
Regards adam
Some years ago, I used to buy proceeds of crime vehicles at auction. We were ALWAYS advised to change the number plates to avoid problems either from the police or from associates of the previous owner.
Absolute twaddle, I’ve purchased countless vehicles from these auctions (mainly motorcycles) and I’ve literally not once been advised to do anything of the sort.
I can almost guarantee the key wasn't "Programmed" but ordered "plug n play" from the factory
100%
You sell these cars at an amazing price, absolutely amazing videos great bit of education into your trade. Couldn't fault anything you two do, amazing work partners / mates always keep these videos up you deserve much more followers
Merc keys come pre programmed using vin number when ordered from dealership.
They don’t need to touch the car to program them.
Dealership doesn’t make anything ordering a key so charge you 1 hr labour instead, they didn’t want you bringing truck in or onsite for it so they could charge you for nothing. Main dealer main stealer
Hence why the battery was still disconnected and the car hadn’t moved
100% right , I had the exact same issue last the key to my van (mercedes) ordered the key but they insisted I bring the van down bought it down and some lad told me it’s preprogrammed . I demanded the key I ordered after some hesitance from them guess what ? No programming needed
@@isammmehmood2739 A new key will contain all the code it needs and doesn't need additional programming, but it's unique serial number still needs to be read and added to the car's internal registry of authorised keys - otherwise, any Mercedes key would open any Mercedes vehicle.
You also need to remove from the car's registry, any keys that aren't in your possession.
@@Rodders20004 The programmer provides power to the car's control module via the OBD port. In fact, the module can be programmed off the car.
What a fantastic car for 5K!! fair play to you and chris for selling the vehicles at a fair price, leaving plenty of room for the next person and still making a decent profit yourself, your my favourite TH-cam salvage repair channel. Keep doing what your doing and I'll see you Sunday for the next one!
An absolute gorgeous car lads , I think you've under sold yourselfs tho could have pushed £6.5 -£7 k was a big risk and when you can make a little more profit go for it
They know their business! Lamborghini and many many farm vehicles! Don’t worry about their pricing! Excellent content thank you gents!
You deserve to find a car that you can make some money on. But it is to cheap, you could take more for it. You are some lovely positive people. Greetings from Denmark.
What a grate recovery story guys great content - Thank you.
Rob it’s a shame you have to keep correcting things in the comments, I didn’t see a problem with the merc dealer, and you were right to check the window tint before MOT. Lots of comments are clearly from people who have never been in the trade or are diy mechanics. You both have a wealth of knowledge and experience to know what is the right path to go down and the relationships you build with suppliers and other trade’s help you keep good profit margins. Keep up the good work.
A set of skids would be useful to keep on the truck. You've needed them a few times and an old wheel trim isn't always available.
Quick FYI re POCA items. See this quote from my local force eBay site. "Sale items are a direct result of court proceedings under the Proceeds of Crime Act(POCA).They are legitimate purchased goods only the means to purchase was corrupt.Stolen property will not knowingly be offered for sale here."
Thanks for another interesting video
Proper old school risk taking in the Motortrade, i love it when the touch lands on a good car.
Glad you opened the boot, checked nobody tied up with cement wellies on…. 🤪
Cement wellie’s on and free swimming laessons, just saying😂
the Batt in the remote maybe flat and needs placing near the ignition to charge it up
Hi Rob and Chris, when is more boat content coming? Summer is here and would love to see it out on the water
That was really entertaining, a great result and you've put another lovely motor back on the road!
Go to the last keepers address and drive round with the key that was inside it, keep pressing it and see what happens
It is reasonable price but it's a manual 95% of mercs since 2014 are auto, and that's because the auto drives much nicer than a manual
I can’t believe the Merc dealership were so difficult there. I work at a Renault/Dacia garage (I believe officially it’s a satellite dealership, not main dealer), if you needed keys programmed we’d happily have you leave the car on the back of the truck (I’ve programmed the keys of cars before whilst they’ve been on a trailer)
If it was an A class you could probably do it ; ) (the smaller engined ones are Renault engines)
@@hazzalandy still a Mercedes key though unfortunately
You can wind those rear calipers back with a 12v battery, connect wires to the two electrical pins and switch polarity depending on winding it on or off mate 😊
well done guy's even with Chris on holiday looking forward to the new one and well Rob for doing your as well👍
Wow, a HPI clear 2014 Mercedes C Class that’s just been serviced for 5k, someone is going to be very happy with that…
Well done, that man, still down to teamwork 👏 👍 😊
So Mercedes were putting you through hoops for nothing, they programmed the key out in the yard so they could have done it on the back of your truck. For the hundreds they charged you'd think they would have given a better service. Great car though!
My thoughts exactly
That’s why their called stealerships
@@thomasshepard6030 Merceds dealers dont like recovery trucks in there yards.......
Robb, chris, that's got to be one of the best videos you have done. What a result.
Window tints aren’t part of an MOT Rob and they cannot be failed on them believe it or not…I always thought they were tested on tints but they aren’t 😉👍
They are as he said if I don’t pull them out it will fail
I think if they are privacy tints it’s ok but not blacked out. My daughters had the same with her evoque. Failed MOT but challenged with DOT and revoked
Good evening Chris and Rob, great video, the car looks great and I’m sure it will sell at that very reasonable price. Thank you for taking the time tom upload another video.Ged.
What a lot of trouble just for a key! I think you have earned your money on this one even though there wasn't that much work done on the car itself. I thought the front windows might be illegal even though on camera they didn't look too dark so yes Rob I understand why you had doubts. it was good that you got to the MOT early, well planned. That is a very good price for the car and if someone wants to they can get the dents done for not much more money and still be happy with the cost. Well done Rob and Chris for getting this one sorted. 👍👍
For anyone wanting to know the model and year, this is a 2014 Mercedes-Benz C220 BlueTEC Sedan
You guys are brilliant as always! Let’s make your channel 300k followers 🎉🎉🎉
Great video as usual gents. What a Bargain car that is but as you said it’s all a risk and it’s just paid off for you. In your costs have you forgot to include the price of the Battery? Or it may be that Tanya supplied as part of your sponsorship with them.
This car is only £20 per year to tax as well!!
First time I’ve watch you. Good man, full of enthusiasm and I wish you the very best, great work.
Imagine the key being a quarter of the price of the car, mind blown 🤪
Thumbs up before watching. Know this will be great
Different but very interesting project - nice car.
Great video
If you find any small bags of cake mix gis a tinkle
That is crazy cheap I’m from Ireland and a similar spec with that mileage could be worth 16k here
Rob got to hand it to you Fantastic buy!! Some gambles are worth taking, absolutely well done !
Smashing car, keeping my fingers and toes crossed when you cleared the error codes, but sitting for 4yrs was almost a certain for the codes to clear!, nice job! 👍👌
I was on the edge of my seat when you came out of the dealer’s and the key didn’t respond at first !. A good motor for someone, excellent price. I think I would have to change the number plates on it though. Unfortunately it might take a while for the PNC marker to disappear from it !…
This is the first video I have watched and I really enjoyed that. Well done guys.
Another great buy guys, well done.
Great work gentlemen, well done. A car I would buy for sure if I needed one. Well done on 298,000 subscribers too. Happy for you.
Great result well done guys! That should absolutely fly out of the yard at that price.🤠
Nice solo work, Rob! I went on holiday to Cornwall a couple of weeks ago, I can see why Chris is in love with the place.
If that was a petrol car you’d probably have to empty the tank and fuel lines just to get it to run, great buy Rob 👍🏻🏴
My local Mercedes dealership are up themselves rude and clueless. No more Mercedes 🤦♂️ cracking video, co part should be liable surely as not described, glad it’s worked out 👍
The private reg on the car vertical check is still in use today on an x5
The reg no could have been sold separately.
Another great acquisition gents and a good chunk of profit too
Look so much better with the original window tint
Really enjoy this channel , honest hard working and informative ….. thanks gents .
5000GBP? That's a crazy price. Here in Germany this car is around 18.000€, probably with less spec... Insane
£18000 for a 10 year old car are you for real?
They know their trade and as they say they leave some fot the next man. They wouldn't work at a loss and are happy to make a profit.there just not greedy and we can only respect them for that.
Brilliant video as always from you guys nice quick turn around really enjoy theses proceeds of crime auctions hope to see more of them
Like a kid in a sweetshop when it started!!
🖐🏽Wonderful Story! Like the auto very much, maybe because it's sporting a coupla three lil smacks on it to show it's been around the block. As always you fellas are the best!
I bought a CLA from Copart sandwich this year with no key took it to Mercedes Canterbury with the Copart invoice with my ID and they made me a key £412 all done
Great works guys!
What a lovely lovely video Rob and Chris am so happy for you both that's a lovely motor ❤😊😊
Brings back bad memories..key and programming for a Mercedes-Benz key 10 years ago....€300+ here in tenerife....
Nice one guys. Don't forget to add in the cost of the battery from Tayna
free for them
Even when Rob continues to pronounce it TANYA
Great to see the whole SRUK process of a car in one video. Nice car and great result for you guys. Tend to agree the dealer wasn't that helpful and H&S is always a good one for not doing things or making it more difficult! That's a great car for someone although unusual to see a manual Merc!
I bought one of these years ago at a police auction, got pulled over about 20 times in a year 😂
Haha
Nice find Rob, as you said always a gamble, got to be in it to win it
That's a nice car rob for 5k I've heard of these police auctions there's meant to be some decent stuff at them, maybe another one in the near future something a bit more exotic. Good work lads and a nice little profit should have asked for a bit more when you crunched the numbers I was expecting 8k👍🏻
Wow that’s a cheap price for that range type of car, someone is going to be very happy to get it ❤❤❤
I would have said £10k all day long, but it's your shout and you look after people, giving them a genuine motor at sensible prices.
As long as it's sat, I'd put a tank of fuel through it before changing the fuel filter. Just in case you have some algae growing in the tank. Or, advise the buyer to put another filter on it in 500 miles.
I'd not realized it was diesel right away and I was thinking that it would be a miracle if it ran on 5 year old gas. But, diesel does not go bad the same way.
25 previous owners...all in the comments section....
Wonder what the last Owner ''Mr Escobar'' done with the original keys 🤔
Fair play lads, fair play.
Thanks again.
Very enlightening as regards hand brake release ,so many cars with electric hand brakes
I recently sold my C Class which was a great car to own and drive. I thought I'd let mine go cheap, but I am a rank amateur compared to you guys!! I get why you do it, but God love you, you have left enough in this for the next man and the two after! 😂
Lovely car no problem selling this one lads
Well done Rob and Chris a great price for the car always great video guys
Someone’s getting a bargain. Lovely car, and great job as ever.
Rob Chris
I've had to buy a couple of keys for my own Mercedes cars not once was there an issue they where taking the proverbial in my situation they walked out pressed unlock started the car absolutely no problem can't believe they treated you like that shocking shame on that dealer
John your friend from Glasgow
Treated us like what ?
Absolute wozza,s
I thought they normally have cars crushed if involved in crimes... At least the car gets another lease of life , well done chaps , awsome content 🎉
Perhaps the intent is to recover some of the money in order to compensate victims of crime. Makes more sense.
Nice little quick flip stole it for that price and made profit and still a bargain well done lads
Never had a key or program problem with my 1953 Ford Anglia my 1st car l brought I 1970 👏👏🤙 and I could do some maintenance myself like change the bushes on the starter motor ❤️
The most sophisticated piece of electrical equipment would have been the radio in that thing…
Love the videos Rob and Chris that is a long time ago since is been taken by the police unbelievable
Not just police that seize cars under the Proceeds of Crime Act. Can be HMRC, DWP, Trading Standards, Local Authority, etc., etc Probably just been released even though its been over years, as criminal case has to concluded with a conviction before POCA hearing. And don't forget what happened in 2020 to hold things up. I would hazard a guess that wherever it was stored, they just dumped the keys in a drawer somewhere. When the car was cleared for sale, they just found a Mercedes key and, with no charge in the battery, did not know it was the wrong one.
Nice little bargain there.
Brilliant video, Rob and Chris 👍
Very interesting little video chaps, well done.
Nice work Rob and still an incredible snip for the next man! 👍
That car is a bargain. A really good video, Rob.
Hi Rob and Chris, proper result with this one, what a cheap car for someone too. Bit of a faf getting the car programming sorted, but how easy 6did it start up after a long, long time sitting. Great video as always.. Alex.
That's a long time for a car to be sat in storage - wonder if the bloke that had it got out before the car did?
Well done guys really happy for u both doing a outstanding job as always love this team 👍👏🏻
Another great turn around guys. Well done
They told you that you had to leave the car with them to program the key because it probably took all of about 5 minutes to program it and yet they charge you a full hour labour. They could of easily done that on the back of the truck
A Manual Merc 😳😳😱😱😱
Rare hehe
lovely buy you were sweating for a bit rob
Had a second key programmed for my Peigeot, but when i came to open the car neither my old key or the new one would work. Tech had to come out, open the car with key, then fafed about for few minutes turning it in dash for it to finally work right. Then both worked fine. Overpriced imho, though with all the tech in the keys these days I guess it's inevitable.
Hello Rob and Chris, great video on the Mercedes Benz Rob,the windows didn't look tinted but well spotted.after a clean it is very tidy.the key was a few pounds but you needed it.did Chris enjoy his holiday?.
