Crazy that you had that messing around at the Mercedes dealer. They could have realised that the car wasn't mobile as you were buying a key because you didn't have one and were bringing it on the back of a lorry. I think that the simple grille with horizontal bars looks much better than the swirly 'chrome dot' types that MB have been using on some recent models.
When I worked for Mercedes the keys came pre programed, plug and play. The fact they 'programed' the key without connecting the battery is weird. I may be old but sure I'm right.

As a retired Cop this has been seized under Proceeds of Crime due to the previous owner not having the legal collateral to have paid for it legally therefore a Judge seized it. Same with super priced watches etc etc. In other words they made money illegally ( drugs or whatever). Nice buy 👍

What the poster is saying is that the defendant didn't have the means (legally) to purchase the car, therefore it was a proceed obtained through criminal activity

Rob it’s a shame you have to keep correcting things in the comments, I didn’t see a problem with the merc dealer, and you were right to check the window tint before MOT. Lots of comments are clearly from people who have never been in the trade or are diy mechanics. You both have a wealth of knowledge and experience to know what is the right path to go down and the relationships you build with suppliers and other trade’s help you keep good profit margins. You can wind those rear calipers back with a 12v battery, connect wires to the two electrical pins and switch polarity depending on winding it on or off mate 😊
i can help you out with the history of the car i know the previous owner and pending on how you look at it it was and wasn't used in a crime it was basically used as a daily driver or run about was now and then used to pick up and drop off certain things im sure you can fill in the gaps LOL but it was not used in any bank robberies or anything like that

I thought the front windows might be illegal even though on camera they didn't look too dark so yes Rob I understand why you had doubts. it was good that you got to the MOT early, well planned. That is a very good price for the car and if someone wants to they can get the dents done for not much more money and still be happy with the cost. I can’t believe the Merc dealership were so difficult there. I work at a Renault/Dacia garage (I believe officially it’s a satellite dealership, not main dealer), if you needed keys programmed we’d happily have you leave the car on the back of the truck (I’ve programmed the keys of cars before whilst they’ve been on a trailer)
Window tints aren’t part of an MOT Rob and they cannot be failed on them believe it or not…I always thought they were tested on tints but they aren’t 😉👍
I think if they are privacy tints it’s ok but not blacked out. My daughters had the same with her evoque. Failed MOT but challenged with DOT and revoked

Some years ago, I used to buy proceeds of crime vehicles at auction. We were ALWAYS advised to change the number plates to avoid problems either from the police or from associates of the previous owner.
Absolute twaddle, I’ve purchased countless vehicles from these auctions (mainly motorcycles) and I’ve literally not once been advised to do anything of the sort.
My local Mercedes dealership are up themselves rude and clueless. No more Mercedes 🤦♂️ cracking video, co part should be liable surely as not described, glad it’s worked out 👍
That's a nice car rob for 5k I've heard of these police auctions there's meant to be some decent stuff at them, maybe another one in the near future something a bit more exotic. Brilliant video again guys. I am surprised by how you were dealt with by Mercedes. I had a 04 C180 that had no keys and was left on the drive of a friend’s new house as it was abandoned there by the previous owners. My local Mercedes could not have been more helpful. Once i had proof of ownership somebody actually came to the car and made sure it was programmed and running. That was only 7 years ago.
At least if Chris finds money in that car he'll be safe because it'll have been laundered 🤣. A good result for both you two and the new owner, a very nice car.

Merc keys come pre programmed using vin number when ordered from dealership. They don’t need to touch the car to program them. Dealership doesn’t make anything ordering a key so charge you 1 hr labour instead, they didn’t want you bringing truck in or onsite for it so they could charge you for nothing. Main dealer main stealer

I’ve just purchased a stolen recovered Mercedes GLE 43 AMG from Copart with no keys. I assumed that my key guy could code a key but I’m now currently going through the same process as you with the dealer! Luckily I found a photocopy of the logbook in the car and got the logbook within 3 days. I went to Mercedes to order the key today but they said I needed to have the car with me! 😅.

100% right , I had the exact same issue last the key to my van (mercedes) ordered the key but they insisted I bring the van down bought it down and some lad told me it’s preprogrammed . I demanded the key I ordered after some hesitance from them guess what ? No programming needed
@@isammmehmood2739 A new key will contain all the code it needs and doesn't need additional programming, but it's unique serial number still needs to be read and added to the car's internal registry of authorised keys - otherwise, any Mercedes key would open any Mercedes vehicle. You also need to remove from the car's registry, any keys that aren't in your possession.

A set of skids would be useful to keep on the truck. You've needed them a few times and an old wheel trim isn't always available.

You can use ammonia to take tint glue off. Less risk of damaging anything using solvents.

The handbrake can be released by pulling the plug of at the caliper and giving the terminal 12v.

It is reasonable price but it's a manual 95% of mercs since 2014 are auto, and that's because the auto drives much nicer than a manual

Autotronics in Leicester never let me down yet … M class and E class but same key as that 🤷🏻♂️

That's a long time for a car to be sat in storage - wonder if the bloke that had it got out before the car did?
Merc keys come pre programmed using vin number when ordered from dealership.
They don’t need to touch the car to program them.
Dealership doesn’t make anything ordering a key so charge you 1 hr labour instead, they didn’t want you bringing truck in or onsite for it so they could charge you for nothing. Main dealer main stealer
Hence why the battery was still disconnected and the car hadn’t moved
100% right , I had the exact same issue last the key to my van (mercedes) ordered the key but they insisted I bring the van down bought it down and some lad told me it’s preprogrammed . I demanded the key I ordered after some hesitance from them guess what ? No programming needed
@@isammmehmood2739 A new key will contain all the code it needs and doesn't need additional programming, but it's unique serial number still needs to be read and added to the car's internal registry of authorised keys - otherwise, any Mercedes key would open any Mercedes vehicle.
You also need to remove from the car's registry, any keys that aren't in your possession.
@@Rodders20004 The programmer provides power to the car's control module via the OBD port. In fact, the module can be programmed off the car.
Long gone the times when Merc and BMW were a quality and a desirable car .
