Personally, I have had positive interactions with Israelis. Knowing that my next-door neighbour is Jewish helps me sleep easier at night because of his moral compass. They are, however, mitigating conditions with this war. To win a war, you must be a barbarian, to win a battle, you must be a savage, and to maintain the peace, you must be experienced at applying wisdom. My concern is that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the Western media have dubbed this the Israel-Hamas conflict. This is a legal stumbling block for Israel since Hamas represents just a small portion of the population of Gaza and Palestine, which means that no matter what Israel and the IDF do, they will be viewed as Goliath, with the large contingency of pro-Palestine supporters seeking for a David to come and slay the giant.
As a result, even if Israel and the IDF eliminate Hamas, they will be in a no-win position unless they can persuade the world that they are facing an existential crisis, hence the need for greater engendering of socioeconomic and community work advocacy. This is exceptionally challenging since, for decades, they have shown to be a force to be reckoned with in terms of humanitarian, social, and financial impact, with one of the most formidable military machines in human history to help consolidate their position.
Since it is our nature to defend the weak, most of us oppose tormenters, currently a worrying perception in several academic institutions in the West recently witnessed in the mass news media. Yet Israel has been able to stand strong because of their effectively recorded history and the region of the world in which they are located. They supply developing nations with innovations in defence, security, agriculture, banking, mining, and, most importantly, administrative, and corporate governance. Given what they bring to the table, I feel it is truly tragic that they are not permanent members of the African Union.
Yet, the current war (crisis) is devasting to mankind, as we are all cultural and religious offspring of the Abrahamic faith and principles. But one must not rejoice with the idea that Israel is a glasshouse because they got caught slumbering.
We all hope for a solution in which humanity triumphs, which should include the psychiatric and pedagogic rehabilitation of the people of Gaza, who are severely traumatised and, due to poor literacy and options, are easily seduced by fanatical fantasies from whoever puts bread on their tables (in this case, Hamas and other entities benefiting from the crisis). These can be integrated or stand-alone but will remain entirely regulated by Israel for the next twenty to thirty years.
Politically, once the dust settles, the present Israeli administration will struggle to preserve power and control of the government as their authority gets diluted by spiritual and emotional awakening of the victims of the terror attack who will push for clarity, and the Knesset will likely end up impeaching and compelling the principal shareholder in the government to step down in accordance to its laws and constitution. We can only pray that this does not further undermine the condition of the region and Israel's right to exist.
