What do you mean? There’s definitely an order to which regions to explore because they become progressively harder. It’s smart to always have a mage in your party. If you are playing as a mage, you’ll want to use the barrier spell to protect your party members as much as possible. As far as dragons, they’re not meant to be attempted until you’ve gotten to atleast level 12. I always use my tanks & mages. Rogues don’t do well with dragons.

@@dropkickpherby6994 Actually use the resistance buffs for the dragon's specific damage you can get from equipment, runes and potions, micro manage your party.
The attacks are usually signalled noticeably, which means, if you keep track of them and where your party members are, you can move them out of harm.
Use your tanks' abilities to keep the dragon from going after the damage dealers.
When I first started the game, I was very frustrated as well, never had any big problems killing the few dragons in DAO or DA2, and then I kept on dying against the first dragon I encountered in DAI, like others have written, don't start with them too early, not before level 12 at least and since the dragons are usually in line with the rest of the region's difficulty, it might make sense to go to the next region and gain a few extra levels and then go back to the dragon of the previous area, if they were too difficult at first try.
And again, I don't know how you usually do it, but due to the status effects, it's really important to use gear and buffs that protect specifically against the dragon's damage type. I tend to just use the best armour and buffs available usually, and that honestly works fine for me in single player games, but in this case, even a weaker armour which has high frost resistance will serve you better against a dragon dealing frost damage.
As for navigating the game in general, if you have problems recognizing which area to tackle next, there are guides to look up what the best order for the different areas is.

Inquisition was not open world, it was in fact open areas, which each on its own were kind of massive, thus giving this open world feel. Kind of like Andromeda sort of zoning, only not into each one being a slice of a planet, but rather a distinct part of bigger land, or a city and such :)

@@Reptoman68 Hmmm you've forgotten the absolute MESS Inquisition was when it dropped. I couldn't even get it to run until almost 18 months after it dropped because of the infinite horizon bug that plagued almost every AMD PC user. It boomed because it was extremely popular on consoles, not because it was a great PC game. Once it was playable on PC it was a pretty good game... but you can't ignore the fact that it was available to many more players due to console and the fact it was only really playable for many PC players a year or more post-launch kept the hype rolling until awards were run.
The popularity can't be calculated in a vacuum. Raw numbers don't matter without taking into account the fact that more people play video games in Inquisition's era, it was available to more players because of the fact it went to console, and the launch popularity was artificially extended due to many players having to wait to play it.

Some people think Inquisition was a return to form, but others thought it further separated the series from Origins - which is one of the most beloved RPGs ever made .
I think it just comes down to the fact that you probably can't please Inquisition fans and Origins fans at the same time. They want different things, and most won't tolerate a compromise.
It's sounding like Origins fans are becoming louder nowadays, and that only make Inquisition fans (or fans who never played origins) scratch their heads at best, or get mad, themselves, at worst. It makes sense to me, anyway.

    • @XxCrankyMoosexX
      @XxCrankyMoosexX 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

The hate is pretty straight forward in my opinion. I don't HATE Inquisition(DA:I) or Veilguard(DA:V), but I have no enthusiasm for them nor do I plan on buying the game. I'll give my reasons below, sorry for a long write up.
Dragon Age went from a thoughtful, more tactical combat CRPG(traditional RPG) where even seemingly small dialog decisions had real impact on parts of the game. You are an active participant with meaningful cause. and effect changes in DA:O and still somewhat in DA:2 as well. Outside of the largest decisions; DA:I didn't really have that, and almost certainly same for DA:V. DA:I feels like you're watching the story vs being in it. That's okay but it's fundamentally different.
All that's said without mentioning the seismic shift in tone between DA:O/2 and DA:I/DA:V -- where art style and overall aesthetics changed completely. It's undergone a Marvelization with Joss Whedon, James Gunn & Michael Bay being overwhelming influences. That's undeniable with these recent trailers. It's neon colors, quippy dialog that's straddling the line trying to be humorous and serious at the same time. The world is literally falling apart around us but a little smile and joke makes sense, because Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy made a billion dollars.
I understand why people like Inquisition and may be excited for DA:V. If you like the more simple gameplay/dialog then more power to you, I genuinely don't have a grudge against that. Although I am sincerely bummed that a interesting fantasy world like Thedas, and the even more interesting Qunari are now relegated to a franchise that's turned into a rather shallow, but more broadly appealing Action RPG.
I'm just glad that CRPGs are becoming nearly mainstream to the point I can't keep up with the releases.

It's always interesting hearing people talk about origins as a crpg. I played through it several times on console, and so did all of my friend group, and you couldn't zoom all the way out to a top down tactical style where you control your whole party.
It was always just a third person rpg with an ability wheel.
It wasn't until years later I picked the game back up on PC during a sale that I found all these other features. It was mind blowing.
So when the series moves on in number 2, it didn't really feel that much different to me, aside from the extremely rushed nature of the game of course. There was the flashier combat, and the much less abilities, but the feel of the game was fairly the same.
So even though I've played through all 3 games several times each, my feelings on the matter are closer to Bruce here. The combat I see in veil guard, while not amazing, doesn't feel that different compared to past entries to me.

We haven't gotten many details about how deep this goes or even how it actually works, but it seems to be a theme for some, if not most of your abilities, that they get a secondary effect or just another elemental property based on your background... Regardless of the conversation about the new DA.
About important subject of bear-fking and "they'll find another animal". First of all, that topic is overexaggerated, everyone who played later build of EA BG3, I think post patch9 in EA, knows that Minthara scene in Act1 is the shit. You literally 69 on some stone altar. And then you form a relationship, if you don't snap her neck, or she doesn't stab you, or you save her at Moonrise...
But, like cmon, the game has squid sex scene, in which you're presented with dialogue choices on foreplay, while already levitating btw, and I don't remember if there is an insight check (btw, wtf?) or not, but your character remembers that mindflayer tentacles are their erogenous zones. So you start gently kissing and sucking tentacles while the mindflayer moans. Yeah. And somehow people are talking about the bear-fking scene.
So, unless somehow they go with an even wilder option for DA, like dwarf-elf-human threesome full-frontal nudity that is joined by the demon on pride while Solas watches naked from the other room, I don't think there is a lot that could be done, if we're still talking about RPGs, and not specialized games.

Making sure you have good gear via crafting. I'm just hoping this gameplay is on easy/normal and on harder difficulty will require more strategy. But DAi still never got as difficult as DAo. Dragon Age: Origins is one of my all time favorite games. I remember first trying Dragon Age 2 (I think it was a demo on PS3) and I was almost mad or disgusted at how different it was, and how bad it felt by comparison. Total switch in combat, being forced to play as a specific named character, the repetitive environments. I barely touched it. I played Dragon Age: Inquisition a little more, but not much. Was still too different for my liking, but closer to Origins than 2 was. I keep telling myself I will go back and give them a proper chance, but it's so hard when I compare them to Origins. This looks no different. Probably fun, but when compared to Origins, I feel like it won't hold up for me. And it's hard not to compare them, when they're all part of the same series. I loved the Mass Effect trilogy too (never touched Andromeda), and Veilguard is getting Mass Effect comparisons, so maybe that will help.

Mass effect porbaly didnt suffer the same "fate" by merit of how interlinked the games are, story and gameplay wise.

Things like facial animations being stiff kinda suck but… not a single BioWare game has had good facial animations. I gotta feel bad for Bioware/DragonAge with Larian reminding people the old school can still be achieved and it could be incredible. Now DA is stuck in this spot where it's trying to be cookie-cutter blockbuster pseudo RPG while it still has fans holding out hope for that classic.
I've personally moved on, and like the guys said, I don't need DA to be Baldur's gate anymore, I;m fine with this game being... DA:V just looks like a standard action game and the fact that it was going to be a live service games at one really shows in it's style of combat.

Just a quick catch up, it's the events of Inquisiton ending which is hidden behind a DLC, so it's spoilers: We learn that your companion Solas is Fen'Harel, an elven "god" known as the trickster and the elves don't like him very much. Turns out elves worship slave masters and Solas ran a campaign against them. In order to weaken the evil slave masters who had very powerful magic he created the Veil, the separation from the spirit world and physical world, severely depriving the world from having all the crazy magic they had back them. The side effect is that the elves also had their civilisation collapse, and were in turn conquered by the humans and made slaves. So Solas came to the conclusion that he inflicted a lot of harm trying to help his people, but just ended up making things worse, now he's trying to destroy the Veil he created to remake the old world, presumably without god-like slave masters subjugating the elves.

I find it a bit ironic that in the Mass Effect games, the vast majority of the romanceable crew members had pre-defined sexual orientations, which feels more realistic than what this game is doing by making everyone pansexual (which is itself a bit of a cop out in response to other games having just player-focused orientations, like BG3). I say this not as being against pansexuality generally, but with the understanding that even in a fictional society that is probably more progressive than ours when it comes to love and orientation, not everyone can possibly be pan. That feels like a statistical wonder. Straight and gay people with specific orientations exist too.
What I suspect is at the root here is that BioWare just doesn't have the will to tell players no. Every romanceable NPC has to be available for all players so that every player can act out their dream ship, instead of feeling like they need to play as a gender they wouldn't pick first to get an ideal romance partner, or the opposite where they find themselves settling for the next best romanceable option if the one they originally wanted isn't attracted to their gender normally. But then again, that's life, right? You may run into a cute guy/girl and be initially attracted to them, only to then feel that disappointment when you learn they aren't attracted to your gender. It happens. But of course, games are about escapism too, so take all that with a pinch of salt.

The world changing decisions really stopped after origins, and ven 2 most major choices were minor except the end. This new style may not be for everyone but as someone who likes all the games, including inquisition I think taking a step back from open world and back to a more controlled environment is for the best for bioware. The thing is story wise I’m excited I like the story of DA always had fun but the game play was always interesting even when it was turned into a more hack and slash style but this games combat looks so uninteresting it looks like ME I hope tactics is still a thing and that the AI can still play by itself without my need to control them

Dragon age is my favorite fantasy series of all time and I fall into both camps of belief when it comes to these games. I started playing with Origins, and I do really believe it is peak DA in both storytelling and gameplay. However in my eyes I truly believe what’s kept this franchise alive to its core following is the Narrative, regardless of gameplay.
I view the criticism towards the combat systems and the simplified mechanics as completely valid. It sucks that they’ve moved away from that style of gameplay.
Unfortunately money will win and water things down for mass appeal, that’s what’s happened with the initial layers of this series. But hopefully it still rings true in this new installment, that if you dig a little deeper and try to get to the heart of this game there is genuine substance.
Thats how I feel about Da2, and Inquisition. Yeah they kinda look like poop and ass and are pretty repetitive, and it is a shame that it takes this level of dumbing down to sell a unique fantasy IP. But there are great quests and characters housed in a broader world that really do respond to your actions. More importantly there is heart at the center of this franchise, at least in my opinion.
It’s still to be seen what Veilguard will really offer. And I’m gonna be hopeful because the other option is to be mad about something I have no knowledge, or control of.

Gonna do what I did when cyberpunk released, instead of playing a broken game I went back and replayed the shadow run trilogy.
Prob just gonna give baldurs gate 1-2 a playthrough and finish off with Orgins once Vielguard releases.
    Rip bioware

Solas' story is weird in a world with the Blight and some calamity that literally forces everyone to be equal, in death and possible heroism. Which was a major appeal of the Grey Wardens and the Blight storyline. Feels like they took one of the smaller storylines within Origins and made an entire series off it. Like when people write a 400 page book based on a throw-away sentence in another book written by a more proficient author. The more iterative of the derivative it becomes, the more diluted and less significant the point is. It just looks and reads goofy AF to me.

So are we going to rationalize and relativize if Baldur's Gate 4 turns out to be to BG3 what DAVG is to DAO ?

If there will be a BG4, it won't be for a very long time. Larian have stated that they have no desire to begin working on a BG4.

It may just be me but all the characters look like they've got one of those "beautifying" AI tiktok/Instagram filters on their faces and its weird. Other than that I'll reserve my opinions til I've seen more.
