I had to fly Sydney-Melbourne-Sydney twice in two months in 2018, both times flying JetStar. All four times I found myself strangely cross upon arrival and I think the leg room was a main cause for that. Four months after these trips, I flew Sydney-Adelaide-Sydney with Virgin Australia and enjoyed the flight in both directions. They even upgraded my friend and I to Economy Plus on the Sydney-Adelaide leg. Also the take-off from Melbourne Tullamarine is really rough, feels like you go almost straight up after leaving the ground from memory.
Hi what a great channel! I love watching your vids and your personality is so pleasant! I also love that you enjoy the food during your travels. I hope you get many more subscribers :)
Thank you mate for your informative fun videos I am enjoying being a armchair traveller at this time with your help. I really enjoyed your comments on the food. Happy travelling keep up with the fun.
Nice review & views of Sydney plus a lot of airports. I've only had one flight on an A321 & chose a seat right down the back. The A321 feels and sounds like a much bigger aircraft than an A320.
man just waiting for you to go other countries with few of the best airlines just keep making videos like this and please try international route more i want to see different airline underrated and highly rated one u give honest reviews😉😉
Love your stuff Rory! I'll give you a tip film more of the hotel checkout trip to the airport etc etc like Noel Phillips does make it more of an adventure! I'm sure it will make you standout from other flight reviews in Australia which feel like they are filming catching a bus to work everyday..A Vlog/Flight review...Keep up the great content and looking forward to the Indian Pacific review!
Hi Lachlan thank you so much for your advice! I’m trying to diversify and looking for more topics I have filmed/planned to film a few more hotel reviews, it just takes time to make them hahah 😁
Nice video My wife and I fly Jetstar sometimes and we find it to be ok because we always just book row 1. Being a bit of a nervous flyer, I find it much better up there and less claustrophobic than back in the thick of it. The surcharge is reasonable and I always seem to get availability. We flew the A321 SYD-CNS one year and it was acceptable. Of course it always makes the trip better knowing the return will be in QF Business, so that’s a good strategy as well if you have the points :)
I have been looking for a good Jetstar A321 review, and you've done that! Happy that you've completed every single airline that flies SYD to MEL. Can't believe that Jetstar is almost more expensive than Qantas overall. Cool to see that TigerAir aircraft!
I expect you better get used to it. Qantas is flying a lot of Jetstar planes on its routes at the moment. I have heard nothing about the A380’s in the desert.
I wasn’t talking about that. I was talking about the fact I see more Jetstar flights than Qantas flights. As for the 380’s I have already seen questions asked about their future. The current Qantas MD has made it clear his preference to use Jetstar crew & Aircraft. With a shoulder injury I cannot fly their 320’s & 321’s. This argument goes back to 2008 roughly.
Your video was on point about JQ flew with them twice both from SYD-MEL, even for a short flight it was bearable with the legroom, any longer than 90mins forget about it. The choice on this sector is up to the passenger but in my opinion I’ll either flight REX that offers choice and affordability.
Great video Rory. I flew Jetstar recently (I reviewed this on my channel) from Darwin to Adelaide and also had the pie / sausage roll combo. I agree with the sausage roll but I felt the pie could've had a little more flavour. Next time I hope the toasted sandwich is available, that's my favourite!
Great video Roy always great standard and high quality! Could you please review an XPT to Dubbo and Roy next time you go on an xpt can you please order the spaghetti bolognese I've never seen a video on it and I'm so curious and also a great video
@@RoryDing Yes RoryDing I believe that is the case. Heavy Code D and above aircraft will almost certainly utilize the entire length of Runway 16/34 for departures.
hi rory is your reason for using transportation a lot for business ventures just wondering how you support this lifestyle ie: with hotels cost and that
I haven't had the sausage roll onboard Jetstar but I'll have to check that out. Although I have to disagree with you about it being the best snack (with bias). The stacked chips are the best I've ever had out of all the other airline's snack menu items. Not sure what it is about them but they are just so tasty and make the time fly alongside some cider.
Ooo thanks for the heads up on the reduced pitch on the A321. Wasn’t aware they were different. Any chance of a trip report from Avalon airport? I know it’s still Jetstar but would love to see the check in process :)
“Seat Pitch is the distance from any point on one seat to the exact same point on the seat in front or behind it. While it is not the exact equivalent of "legroom", it does give a very good approximation of how much seat room you should expect” (seatguru)
It confirmed that driving down is better haha. I recently drove to Melbourne via Echuca, a great spot of visit, and came home (to the Central West NSW) via the Hume. If money, and time, allows, I'd like to see you review the Spirit of Tasmania. I always get a porthole cabin, though there are other options such as the recliners, interior cabins, and deluxe cabins (at a massive $499 one way price premium). I've always enjoyed travelling on Spirit, though I felt the experience is somewhat diminished post Covid, especially as they no longer seem to have live music playing on the night sail.
Spirit of Tasmania is expensive and I’m not usually a big fan of road trips so I don’t think I’ll make a review on that anytime soon But if I do get onboard one day, I will make a review ☺️
@@RoryDing not as expensive as you may think, especially compared to business class domestic travel and the Indian Pacific. It cost 2 of us almost $900 return, with a porthole cabin both ways, not including car (we took advantage of the free car thing they ran). That was for travel last week (8 May to Devonport, 14 May return). Of course for those not wanting to do a road trip, you can walk on if you prefer. There is a tram direct to the pier from Melbourne CBD. In 2023, it's supposed to move to Geelong to a purpose built terminal, and new ships.
It’s a shame, I actually loved flying in the A321 because I liked the slightly wider seat, but if they’ve stuffed up the legroom I’ll have to go for the exit row or fly with Qantas.
Woohoo the pie is back, even if it is only the conveniently shaped Traveller Pie. OMG the legroom or lack of, definitely a bonus for those shorter folk amongst us. Maybe time for a traveller's etiquette video, explaining to people how to get organised & not hinder your fellow traveller. Thanks for suffering a Jetstar flight so I don't have to. 👏
I always if I can avoid Jetstar. It is not even worth it when I see the $ add ons, The vid is very informative. It is good Rex is proving to be a delightful option
I don’t think you can compare the seat pitch so easily as these seats are clearly much thinner than QF, therefore the actual legroom is probably very similar
It’s an overnight service, for most of the trip it’s gonna be dark, so you won’t be able to see much outside the window. I’ve already made two videos on the XPT, with detailed reviews on the sleeper and the economy class seats, so what exactly are you looking for? I’m just curious 😂
Woah. That’s not a lot of room! 😝 And a lot of passengers for an A321.😮 I prefer when budget airlines use seats that don’t recline … such as EasyJet. It’s often annoying when people recline in front of you on short domestic flights, particularly when the seat pitch is tight. 😳 I’m pretty sure some Jetstar A320s have no recline.
I need to get you done with my hair appointment later if I’ll come get back I’ll get it later later if you want me I’ll come back later I’ll let you know later if I’ll get you later I’ll come back I’ll let you know later later if you need me to get it done

Thank you for reviewing the Jetstar new aircraft. Now I know to get the extra legroom for Jetstar once they start their international route to NZ.
Just avoid the A321
A320 has 29 inches which is a little bit better
I’m so glad your flight was smooth! 💕

Hey Rory hope you don't mind me asking but what day are you going on the explorer the day that you go on it and what time thanks
Fantastic video as always!!
Crikey!!! That plane made catching a train look like a great idea.
I’d still fly 😅
Train takes too long
I'd rather an hour with no leg room then 11 hours with leg room.
Excellent video but the seat 💺 28 inches?? I'm a big guy who won't fit in that seat. So have to fly Virgin or Qantas.
Nice video! I have been home all week because I am sick but Your videos are helping me get through it 😀👍

@@RoryDing ok
Wow you were very lucky once again to taxi up North to use the entire length of Runway 16!

A flew on a refurbished Jetstar A321. I am 173cm tall and for a 2 hour flight I felt fine.

@@RoryDing 😅 yeah I timed my comment poorly, dang 🥲
Maybe a Jetstar 787 doing the cairns/Gold Coast runs if you can find one in the meantime?
I booked inaugural 787 busienss class Melbourne to Gold Coast on 1 June
I think the flight is grounded now 😢😢
How many rows of seats are in that plane? The A321 is already long enough, without business class and such a tight pitch, there must be so many rows.
39 haha
@@RoryDing That's much more than comparable narrowbody planes!
Wouldn’t the pitch be the angle of the seat recline, not the legroom which doesn’t change?
“Seat Pitch is the distance from any point on one seat to the exact same point on the seat in front or behind it. While it is not the exact equivalent of "legroom", it does give a very good approximation of how much seat room you should expect” (seatguru)
Is there a charging port on the 787?
Thanx again Rory! excellent review, JetStar is probably the worst airline I've flew with. Won't be flying with them again
It’s not as bad as tap air Portugal’s a319 haha
Flying with a Jetstar A321 to Sydney from Hobart was a nightmare. Barely any services, very bad legroom, and dirty toilets but the crew was very nice.
