My GF took me to Mt. Pinos many years ago on a day trip. There's a road that goes over a hill to some tremendous views. What really freaked me out was a sea of tarantulas crossing the street. It looked like a horror movie!
Do people show up there during summer on a weekend? I was only there once and I was surprised how empty it was. So since there are no bear boxes (and people) I was always a little hesitant to go back.
Ya I don’t know why they don’t have bear boxes. And every time we’ve been there is super empty, like one or two more campsites with people, but I love that about it. One day we went after a holiday weekend and the garbage was super full, the camp host told me that it was full. I love that place.
@@filmsbyone Was that on a weekend when it was so empty? Bc my other option is Buckhorn campground. But that's first come first served and does get full on weekends. So if you get there late on a Friday with kids and it's full then it sucks.
I'm pretty sure that McGill campground is closed at the moment. For a big group you might want to look into Cachuma lake campground, they have showers, flushing toilets, big group campsites and it's next to a lake, you can rent a boat as well.
There are pit toilets, no showers since there is no water. You have to bring your own water. Glad you liked the video! Let me know if you have any other questions.
You can make reservations, but we’ve never made any since it’s also first come first serve. We like to see the sites before we choose one. Let me know if you have any other questions!
@@edgarayalacruz1510 yes, we believe you have had a bear in our area once, it chewed through a water container and sunscreen. We didn’t actually see it but believe it was a bear. It’s important to never leave any food or anything with a scent at night.
I don't know what "closer" is to you but near Lompoc, there's Jalama Beach. It's kind of pricey but you're right on the beach in assigned spots. This was the best place that I've ever experienced seeing the Milky Way as if someone painted it on the night skies! I've only seen it once in our many camping trips there.
Check out Buckhorn Campground in Angeles National Forest - one of the best! Only 1 hour drive outside LA. First come, first serve - it fills up fast weekends so I recommend going Mon - Thurs. So enchanting, you're guaranteed to forget where you came from.

Great video! I'm looking to do 2 campsites for a larger group as well. Do you recommend any particular site numbers or lot areas?

@@filmsbyone Is it actually closed? If you go on the Rec.gov website it will let you reserve sites???
Great video! Did you need a permit for the fire? 😀
No permit needed, you can only have a a fire on the designated pits. Glad you enjoyed the video!
I love this video!
I enjoyed your video. Your accent is great, where is it from?
Hi! I’m glad that you enjoyed the video! I was born in Mexico City
It looks like you are using our backpacking tent?
Yes, that's your backpacking tent!
How did you get there with all the trees is that all the way to the top or is it when you first get there
You honestly just put the campsite on your gps and it will get you there. It’s super easy. I had internet connection there the entire time.
Is there restrooms and showers there?

@@filmsbyone Thank you! I definitely will check this place out
@@KingJulian_111 if you do let me know! also don’t leave any food, soap, lotion nothing out at night, put it in your car.
@@filmsbyone I will. Thanks for the tips!

Is there any places closer to LA?
Mmmm I’m sure there, but to us 1 1/2 is pretty close! I would say do a Google search for camping sites near Los Angeles
