My Sundays, in the UK, are complete, with you guys on Perkins Builder Brothers and Jay's Way, I get all the building fun n facts I need to set me up for the week, thank you all. I'll be copy and paste this over on Jayvs channel, it's Sunday! I'm being lazy! LOL
Well, how good was that? ✔️ Really enjoyed seeing the 8" x 8" posts being installed. Couldn't agree. More about removing corners on post timbers to cut down on splinters. My Bosch electric planer, which is 28 years old, still works as great as it did new. I've added new blades about 6 times. An accident years ago left nerves being crushed and severed on my left side. After fixing some 4" x 4" posts, I walked inside where my wife said "Doesn't that hurt" pointing to my left hand. There was a huge splinter sticking out between my nail and finger on the forefinger, I couldn't feel a thing. Great to see the deck taking shape. You guys take care 🔨🔨🔨🔨🔨
I dont even know why i like these videos so much i have never built and probably will never build anything more than a table but its fun watching you guys do it 😊
I would be very interested to hear what Tim pointed out as "differences". I am very impressed with your quality of work and not being negative about having the HO around... AND working around less than optimal plans that are changing. I love your content. Thank you.
@@timothydillon6421 And those deck beams being 'laminated' mounted to those 8x8 posts not being staggered in their laminated form are a 'dominoes' weak link.
Jamie using the string on the batter board is the same technique the Roman’s used to build roads in straight lines thousands of years ago that are still in use.
Just a curious question; How come you guys dont stagger a layer in your beam assemblies so it becomes one solid mass without continuous butt joints through it?
There's a lot of room under the deck you could have a lower deck underneath like a hideaway spot with a swing chair or hammock for reading or just hanging out.
Nice seeming Tim from awesome framers on the jobsite. I know geographically it is practically impossible but I would love to see a collaboration build using Perkins Bros, RR Buildings, Awesome Framers, Scott Wadsworth from Essential Craftsmen and Stud Pack. And bring in Richard from Finish carpentry TV to help with the trim work and that would be the holy grail of TH-cam construction videos.
Love your videos. I bought one of the Vevor rebar cutters after seeing it on your video. I finish all the rebar in footers of my cabin build in one day because it.
it's such a pleasure watching you guys figure out the best ways of meeting the plan. i'm learning all kinds of things about home building and carpentry. thank you ~
I ❤ how the team can improvise to make a tough situation manageable. It can't be easy working on a slope while carrying beefy wood, but you guys are doing it. 💪 You always find a compromise in any dilemma.😊 Well done!
You could have cantilevered some beams to handle the deck so no expensive, tall posts and labor to install them would have been needed. OR you could have attached some engineered metal angle support brackets to support the deck.
🤣🤣🤣 I can honestly say the crew is exactly the same in real life as they are on TH-cam. Great bunch of guys. I'm still writing up the corrections though 🙂
I know soon as I seen Tim I was thinking as a fellow PNW Framer, he’s thinking 2x4 exteriors with No shear blocks, posts bases bellow grade, triple girders, framing interior rake walls the absolute slowest way, Not necessarily wrong but much different then the west coast seismic zones
Kelly here again, hello to everyone. Jamie, I also saw a video by a Jananese clinitian on " the sixth finger". Very intetesting, I don't know how it may apply to you, but it is very imformative. Seeming not for use in a "power" application but most certainly in an "Dexterity" application. Anywho just thought I would pass that on. Kelly
Protip; use a laser instead of a plumbob to get markings down to footings etc, its faster.. usually i use a hilt pm combi (cross line+dot up down) It needs to have a base so you can se the bottom dot👍
They already mentioned it in a few videos that they’re not working on Fridays. That is also why on Jay’s channel he’s often doing his project on Fridays (and the weekend ofc).
@@OgillaI must have missed it before! (I often have this on in the background while working so sometimes miss a little bit here and there) Still, super awesome.
You guys are in my top five channels, and likely top two to be honest. Sampson Boat Company is tops, but Eric is working VERY VERY HARD getting two videos out each week!! Sampson Boat Co. is an every-other Saturday channel with the occasional episode on the off-Saturday. Jamie, I hope you realize how hard the big bro is working, and I hope his productions are creating strong demand for PBB Inc. I’d have you build for me if you were in Colorado! Maybe I can talk my wife into moving out to Bryson City…. Hmmmmm
I found it easier to frame the deck first temp it up about a 1/4" high and just plumb it down and put he posts in after. Saves lotta figuring and messing around
G,day Perkins Brothers and others from Sydney Australia. The Vevor concrete saw is an amazing price and just perfect for light residential construction. Concrete saws start about $1000.00 (new) in Australia. Moreover I am a convert to the GRK construction screws (their not bad.. just the screw gun makes a lot of noise) one thing: pilot holes near ends. 🌏🇭🇲
Watching you try to use the hammer function on your hammer drill to drive those concrete anchors made me wonder, why don't you get an air hammer? I'm pretty sure Vevor carries one.
The scale of this deck (not to mention the construction quality, of course) is pretty amazing. Have you considered adding a lower level to it? Maybe something like a screened-in sleeping porch. Just something to think about. Always looking forward to your next video.
they had one video where they mentioned that it would be "easier" (and more expensive) if there was a lower deck. It didn't make sense- the homeowner would not have used it. I guess when it's done we will see why. I'm still not exactly sure how this will look in the end.
Yeah, I get that it would be pretty expensive to do, just "on spec." (if the client doesn't want it). I just hate to see all of that space go to waste. @@debby8428
I really enjoy watching you all. Love the tips and the banter between you all. I have noticed that you mostly always bury the bottom of the posts on your deck builds. I know it's ground contact wood but wouldn't it be better to keep the post out of the ground.
Hello everyone, Kelly here. Really enjoy everything about the channel, both the skill and camaraderie. This inquiry is for Jamie, however. Hi Jamie, I lost my ring and middle finger, badly injured/disfigured my thumb and cut through the other two remaining fingers. This was a workplace incident in a millwork with the Colossus of Band Saws. My question is refering to your prosthetic. I would like some information on the aquisition of that aid. Having said that I could probably source out your email to continue further with this topic. What a magnificent piece of kit. If your willing to be helpful with any information, I would pursue availability of such a product. I know what such an injury is like, and I am very happy that you adapted prosperously. Thanks Kelly

Always nice to see the Larry Haun make an appearance ❤
You guys are killing it! Cool to see a cameo from Awesome Framers
Seeing Tim in one of your videos was like seeing a Marvel character in Star Wars. That was a weird experience 😂👍
You seen one house build you seen them all. But you all make watching these fun. I can imagine what it is like to work with you all.
At 24:10, Jamie starts sounding like he's about to break into song like a musical.
I think Jamie was thinking "it's long, strong, and it's down to get the friction on." Sir Mix-a-lot was wise beyond his years.

Lots of differences between NC and Washington. Most of that is driven by our seismic zone and energy code.

My worlds collided Awesome framers and Perkins Builders in one video. That's amazing

I totally get the love for good screws, they go in like butter.
Try using metric for those post measurements. 935mm + 2750mm is so much easier than 93 3/8 + 27 1/4.
Hey PBB. Love your work 👍
Everytime I see some „math“ like that, I am glad that I didn’t have to use imperial. Metric is so easy to use in comparison.

Use damp proof course under the bass plate on the walls to stop rising damp coming up through the structure and potential rotting the timber frame

Omg I love you guys so much. You’re hilarious. Nice job, as always 👌
I'd highly recommend using the Simpson HD concrete anchors (5/8") for the post bases
I love the look on the front of that new Ford pickup. It's kinda 1980s Ford Retro looking.

Ok, so if the deck is that long ..why would you not overlap and alternate the seams of the three boards to stiffen and have a straight run??
