These games are amazing it would cure the pst that caused me some of the atari arcade ports LoL unfortunately im downsizing all my collections and last month was the turn of my trusty Atari 2600 ...but thanks to emulation i would see what i could get get from the stores. I purchased Baby Pacman, the b*nQ, and Beef Drop for 7800. Wondering if I should get more discontinued games lol. Why are they discontinuing them? I really enjoy your content John. Hard work appreciated. 😊👍
It's been so amazing over the years to see what fans have been able to produce long after the fact. If some of these would have been released originally, my young mind would have been blown for sure. Hell, even at 51 years old, my mind is still blown for many of these great games. I actually have a few of these titles, and my favorite is probably Pac-Man 4k(there's an 8k version as well), as that was probably the biggest disappointment for most back in the 80's. With the 4k game, you get an amazing version that is so much more than what we originally got, and then some. While not offered here, there is a Donkey Kong "Arcade" version for the 2600, that is just as amazing as PM4k, and should be tried if any of you get the chance.
@@johnhancockretro Yeah, I've played that other Donkey Kong as well, and technically it's sound, but the stage scrolling and level designs don't really feel DK to me, but it's no less a marvel of fan programming due to those changes.
Draconian is my favorite. I'm actually hoping to order a loose cart as a backup to my boxed copy. My concern is these homebrews dying with no recourse to replace them
It's unfortunate that these games will no longer be available new, but I can always get used carts. I love some of the aftermarket shooters on Atari 2600, including Juno First, Scramble, Super Cobra the arcade game, Draconian, Space Rocks. and Colony 7. I love Space Rocks because it's closer to the arcade version of Asteroids.
I’ve followed it’s development on Atariage, and have played the game, but decided to wait to show it when I get my physical. Atarivox support with voice is always sweet.
So are these games going away completely, or will they just not be available through AtariAge? The way everyone has been talking about this makes it seems like they’re going away completely.
Why are these titles being taken off Atari age? Is Atari shutting this down due to rights? I assume roms can still be purchased by the creators? I have purchased most of the champ games roms that are available, for they are literally incredible ports.
It's really sad to see the aftermarket physical cartridges go... But they're not as expensive as the Opcode Games Super Game Module and the SGM Games I'm planning to buy. But not to worry about seeing Pac-Man Arcade for the Atari 5200 to go, I mean it is a very good remake for the 5200, because I can tell that there are Atari 5200 games that are exactly the same as the Atari 8-Bit line of home computers. I can get flash the Pac-Man Arcade Atari 8-Bit rom to a flashcart because I know it's the same port as the 5200.

Soon as I found out I blasted Al with orders direct in the AA store & from the eBay side!! Lol. I think over the last few weeks I probably dropped a grand!! Wife’s gonna kill me but screw it! The whole thing really stinks! But at least homebrew original games will carry on. It’s also interesting to me how Atari brand originals like 7800 Space Duel, Asteroids Deluxe, Super Circus remains in the AA store. Even more interesting is the 7800 combo cart Frenzy/Berserk seems like it will also survive this!

(No Port no Computer in the 80tys have it) and the galaxian Level that are on no system in the 80tys. Gorf Arcade 2600 was only 3 month in the store. Now it's away 😭. Galagon Atari 2600. Amazing port. All features, all Bonus round, Speed like in the Original. This game is also an atari 2600 Wonder. Now it's away 😢 Wizard of Wor Arcade 2600. What a Port. Great gameplay and arcade Grafik No Port on big computers in the 80tys have speach output. It's also away now 😮 Scramble Atari 2600, Atari 800 XL, Atari 7800. Al three ports are amazing. In this cassé i like the atari 800 Version verry much. And i love the 2600 Version. 😊 That was my added list Greetings 🤗
Is there a Atari clone console that plays 2600 and 7800 or would I need to purchase both consoles? Im totally interested in buying some of these and diving in the Atari world. I already have an AtariVox for my Vectrex.
I'd imagine it is due to legal reasons. I doubt these are officially licensed and the license holders probably want it stopped. Just speculation on my part though.

Yes I’ve played the DK arcade, there’s more than one and both are awesome. The updated Pac-Man 8k is one of my favorite as well

A very valid concern. These eprom chips will not last as long as the originals, but probably outlast us.

The 5200 version is superior. The animation is actually smoother. This observation made playing both on original hardware.

No there is no combo console, but the 7800 plays 2600 games (backwards compatible)

Ugh. I had to look away with that Pac-Man one. The flashing of Pac-Man and the ghosts was just too much.
